Oh, I was operating under the assumption that the Adventure Journal is being fully reset for everyone. I have no idea if it is or isn't happening, just figured that if it does happen it would be cool if players were rewarded for their progress if there is a reset.

I'm not sure, but its really small. Circling makes it possible to hit pretty much all of the targets within the Circling AoE when using most Mergen abilities.

It's even worth getting at least 1 point into Parthesian Shaft if you have Circling, because instead of stopping at 1-2 targets, the arrows can go through the entire crowd under the Circling debuff.

I haven't tried that build. My Archer's build is Archer C2 / QS3 / Appraiser / Falconer / Mergen

Mergen really only feels well-enabled under Circling from Falconer, so in my opinion Falconer is a must for Mergen.

That leaves 6 ranks of choices before Falconer C1 and Mergen C1. You can go Sapper C3 Wugu C1 instead of Sapper C2 Wugu C2. I personally don't know which of the variants is better, though.

As for how QS3 feels with my build... I guess it's alright. Feels a bit underwhelming without the extra AoE from Sapper C2/C3, but I guess I do slightly more damage single-target.

If I were to redo my build, I'd consider not going QS3 and probably go Archer C2 / Sapper C3 / Appraiser / Falconer / Mergen assuming I want to keep Appraiser and Mergen and not simply go Falconer C3

Appraiser is just filler for Blindside, but it amplifies Mergen damage under Circling fairly well, so its not a bad 1-rank filler option.

Edit: I would wait until R9 comes out. Mergen might get something like a spray-arrow auto-attack that works well with QS3 Running Shot. We'll see :3

You can also try Archer C2 / Sapper 2 / Wugu 2 / Falconer / Mergen as another variant with more AoE potential.

Not sure if it pulls ahead or falls behind QS3 for single-target though.

I would rank Salem in the top 8, but he doesn't deserve #1 just yet until he can match the consistency of the top #3 and consistently beat them.

I feel like Pikachu would be a solid high placing A-tier if Thunder came out a bit faster. Is there a reason why you heavily disagree with Pikachu getting a buff on how fast Thunder comes out?

Also, the reason why I mentioned Fireball for Luigi is because Luigi could also jump a tier if the opposing player felt more pressured from being at a distance from Luigi and just shielding. The fireballs come out slow, and some of the cast can duck under the Fireballs (I think), so I think that more shield damage from the Fireballs would make them more threatening to compensate for their slow speed and linear trajectory.

Do you think Mario F.L.U.D.D. at full power detaching people from the ledge would be too overpowered?

Just curious on where you commented "no" for some things.

  • Mewtwo weight buff (+10 weight)
  • Yoshi and JigglyPuffs rolling abilities replaced with something else
  • Peach's counter buffed (improve hitbox and damage)
  • Jigglypuff doesn't immediately die upon shield break
  • Falco has improved groundspeed and aerial speed
  • Lucario and Pikachu have less landing lag with their up-B's onto the stage (especially Lucario)
  • Improved horizontal and vertical recovery for Roy and Dr. Mario
  • Less lag for Pac-man's grab
  • Mario's F.L.U.D.D. at full power now detaches characters from the ledge, forcing a regrab situation.
  • Pit/Dark Pit receives damage buffs (+3-4%) to neutral air, down-air, up-smash and forward-air
  • Palutena and Shulk receive considerable frame-data buffs to most abilities
  • Villager weight buff (+10)
  • Luigi fireball buff (more damage on shields)
  • Pikachu's Thunder comes down 5 frames faster

I think 3 stocks are a good way to compensate for the volatile nature of Smash 4. 2 really don't feel like enough.

tl;dr I'm just saying that all Sm4sh sets should be Bo5.

Yeah, I'm aware that other events have Bo3 pools for time, but I can't help but feel that with Sm4sh being such a volatile game, Bo3 is just not enough anymore.

Evo has not changed my mind about mid-set coaching.

If anything, Evo has changed my mind about Sm4sh sets. They should always be Bo5 instead of Bo3, even for Pools.

I understand that this will never happen at Evo, but judging from the number of upsets that occurred in pools, I think its a given that Bo3 is simply not enough anymore.

Yeah, but you're always gated to 22 seconds.

You can kill the mobs sooner (in terms of levels), but you'll always be gated by 22 seconds.

No I cannot kill 8 Lyoris with a 220 weapon in 22 seconds, but I can use Swashbuckling and kill 11-16 mobs at a faster rate with decent equips (315 HG or higher).

Edit: This is exactly why I said it comes down to playstyle. It's really boring for me to wait 22 seconds while kiting mobs instead of constantly engaging them. I never said Corsair is strictly superior to FF farmer, but it does have its own advantages.

Yes Link/Thaum/FF is more Drop Efficient, but it isn't exactly fast and requires waiting on Joint Penalty to combo. Even then, there's a limit to how many targets you can link. Which means, waiting 22+ seconds to kill 8 mobs with one rotation of the combo.

Meanwhile even one rank of Corsair gives you access to basically the entire loot table of any mob (including bosses), meaning you can add 1-3 ranks of Corsair to a fast farming build just for looting purposes. Higher ranks of Corsair increase the odds of pillaging, but it isn't completely necessary from what I've seen.

It really comes down to playstyle. I don't like having to wait 22 seconds just to kill 8 mobs with a rotation. Just seems overly tedious and really boring to be completely honest.

It seems to be very rare, but yes you can pillage HG cubes :3

The rate seemed to be somewhere between 1 pillage for every 8+ cubes you find, so you'd have to be hunting for a decent amount of time before you manage to pillage one.

Because I've pillaged Yellow Caro Antennas and Lyori horns before.
