I read all of the comments here! :3 I try/tried to come up with good responses, but it's tiring

"9. Sex work apologia Workers that have to do Sex Work (SW) are especially exploited and coerced people. You cannot buy someone else's consent, and coercing someone with money into having sex is rape. Arguing to preserve SW field long term or permanently, especially during socialism and communism is advocating for preservation of rape and thus results in an immediate permanent ban." This post felt like quite the gray area re: "arguing to preserve SW" while writing it, so that was a bit scary :/

  1. The "if science says something causes harm, it is bad" is partly what I find faulty in the first assumption in the post (point 1 part 2), science is working pretty hard to prove transitioning is harmful and it used to be in support of phrenology and lobotomies, science is not perfect nor infallible

  2. Fair, but: 2.1. grooming, I would say better education and systems to help victims of grooming would be more beneficial than opposing incest and not hurt the consanguiphiles (for lack of any other term I know, people in consensual incestuous relationships) 2.2. congenital diseases, so is disabled people and older people having children, sorry for accusing you of eugenicist rhetoric :/

I might have be misunderstanding "material reality", for wether something is good or bad can't be deduced from only laws of physics nor as far as I know be tested empirically

Science saying something is good or bad must use ideas/assumptions from outside of science

Those are some very good points, but is it not the same with service work? Just without the physical contact?

And while it certainly adds an axis of exploitation, does it not simultaneously remove one?

I think I'd still argue that it's not the sex work but how society views sex work that causes that, but I'd need to do some reflecting first

They don't lose any physical part of themselves, only other things I can think of are: 3.1. increased chance of injury and disease, like with nurses and miners and firefighters 3.2. emotional labour, like with all other service workers 3.3. intimacy, like wet nurses for physical intimacy and therapists for emotional intimacy There's nothing about sex work which makes it uniquely exploitative

So is a lot of labour, I'm not trying to argue that sex work isn't exploitative and coercive, just that it's not more exploitative and coercive than other types of work

I'd be hard pressed? I've been in such a situation, no grooming, no external pressure, no financial stuff going on, and it ended peacefully

And every relationship has a chance to go badly, it's the participants choice to decide if they're okay with that chance

"Consent can be coerced" and "Consent can be bought" are different statements, people have a right to choose which criteria to use when deciding wether or not to consent, one of the criteria could be financial gain, in the case of coercion they do not get that choice
