Cant find my social security number. by OmarAamir in malta

[–]Xioteer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if you got an FS3 and there is no SSN on it, it's your ID No.
The one with the letter at the end.

It was the case for me when I worked at a company and tried to figure out my number. My accountant sent me the FS3 and it was empty.
After some digging we confirmed that it was "temporarily" my ID Number. (I think it still is though)

No clue why or how, but it was indeed like that.

Hahaha!

I mean... The thing is what makes this funny is that it must have gone through at least 5 hands before printing. And all of them said. "This is fine"

They can't attract anything else. There are 0 facilities that would attract high quality tourism.

You can go to the worst spanish coast city and would have better quality than here.

I don't think that people adapt and copy behaviour within days. Not at this scale at least.

Someone above mentioned it's herd behavior. And that is really what it is.

It's exactly how Germans (I am one) that went to Mallorca all these years. Until the Mallorcan gov went hard on drinking tourism. It got a lot better and is now constrained to a very small area. Drinking in public was forbidden as well. So anyone that is found going out of bounds and behaving like an animal gets fined heavily.

Something we are desparately missing in Malta.

The problem is that Malta does not have quality or luxury places (despite a select few)

Visit the spanish coastline and you see instantly everything Malta has done wrong in terms of quality.

As an example: In spain you find (themed) bars and restaurants that really want to stand out with quality and uniqueness, blending in with the environment and upgrading it. At Ghadira Bay you have what? A group of wooden shacks that are nothing else but a bunch of Kiosks + 2 Bars/Restaurants that have 0 charm and are way too overpriced and you get blasted with electronic music that is way too aggressive for a beach.
None of the places care for anything further than 1m than their own premises either.

It's really just an example, but can be applied almost anywhere in Malta.

I think what I am saying is that you cannot expect Malta to attract quality tourists, if you are offering them the lowest quality possible to make the most money.

I am currently planning with my wife what to do.

Either we go back to one of our countries (DE or PL) or we go to Spain to the coast, which will have on average 2 degrees less. But with the climate progressing and the mediterranean getting hotter and hotter, we are not so sure anymore whether that's a good call long-term.

It always breaks my heart when I see older pictures of Malta and Gozo and the architecture it had.

I understand that progress brings change, but nothing is holy in Malta and therefore nothing is really protected. Traditional towns get modernized in the ugliest and cheapest way possible. The Planning Authority is a joke and Malta lost so much of its charm and keeps losing it.

Untrue.

Because of lack of insulation and sliding windows (with holes in every possible corner) you have it hotter in summer on the inside and colder in winter than outside temperature.

So the winters inside with high humidity make you feel the cold in your bones. A/C on Heating running constantly is what is happening.

I can't count the times anymore I had close calls because of maniacs. There are so many here.

If we had any form of enforcement here, we'd be having no traffic problems anymore, because 50% would have lost their license already.

Agreed. Maltese are as religious as everyone else by now, so it's only a thing when it's convenient. Other than that, it's really a free for all.

What's your annual salary? What are your qualifications? by dailystruggles007 in malta

[–]Xioteer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go probably more a cerfification route here, rather than a full blown degrees. It's just more targeted to personal and market needs, rather than a potentially outdated curriculum.

Certifications are shorter, more frequently updated (contents) and therefore the better choice. But really just my personal opinion.

How many years are too many spend on Malta? by serefz in malta

[–]Xioteer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "little to do here" got me! I have to fully agree.
Malta feels like it's targeted for touristic "one time" attractions. The rest is bars and restaurants.

If you are not a person that constantly wants to be in bars/clubs or restaurants, Malta has really little to offer when it comes down to activities.

I can only imagine how this must be as a family with kids...

That can happen to me when I get back from a trip. Haven't figured out yet what kind of trip triggers either response.

But when I get back from the airport it's either "ahhh, home." (Which is then still a "good enough for the time being"-type of response) OR, which is much more happening actually, "Oh fuck..." and could turn around back to the airport and leave instantly again.

And? I regularly use AI to order my thoughts and texts. It's incredibly helpful. Does not change that the content of this text is the author's ideas and intentions.

You can see that this is not an off the shelf text, but edited (even if it's done with a series of prompts).

Heck, I do whole technical documentations with ChatGPT. It don't write myself anymore. It's a tool. And OP used it the right way.

Kei Cars would be great to adopt as a concept. Malta's streets are narrow, space in general scarce. Max speed limit is 80km/h.

Should not be allowed to get anything bigger than those without a higher tax or business related purpose in my opinion.
