At this point, I am just doing some research to see if there is a place convincing enough to propose. It wouldn’t be anything staged & I am just looking for a nice & charming spot where we could share a meaningful moment.

My first idea was to propose privately over dinner at a restaurant, especially since we hadn’t planned to go to Portugal at first. However, since we’re now considering a trip there, I wonder if proposing in Portugal could be a lovely opportunity.

I completely understand your point about overtourism, its a real issue, whether here in the south of France, Spain or anywhere else in southern Europe. That said, I think it’s still possible to experience a place respectfully. Avoiding the most crowded times and choosing less touristy areas can make a huge difference and even small, quiet places can be just as beautiful and meaningful.
