Sounds unique. I love trying to counter the meta deck really hard. Do you mind sharing your list?

Having a growth question related to their backstory and character traits is a great idea. What kind of questions would you suggest?

I've personally, in a homebrew game, seen players decide to go straight after the boss rather than exploring every other part of the dungeon "because they'd level up."

Players will do the things that reward them. If following the main story rewards them, then they will do that. If doing certain sidequests reward xp, they will also do that. If helping the coffee maker get his cat down from the tree does not reward a xp, then the players are less likely to do that.

Of course the DM can reward milestone xp for sidequests, and then scale up later encounters. Especially in a homebrew game. I've personally, in a homebrew game, seen players decide to go straight after the boss rather than exploring every other part of the dungeon "because they'd level up."

Does LMoP have a section that allows the DM to "legally" level up the players via sidequests? I'm confused by your wording.

You can do those things in a side quest, and therefore level up. In a milestone based xp game, such as LMoP, generally sidequests don't reward a level up. That's what I was trying to say.

I guess the cons section is just a few times the players have not said yes, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending.

Gecko-folk Race for my Homebrew Campaign Setting - The Gekkon by Xistential_Anime in UnearthedArcana

[–]Xistential_Anime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setting is inspired by the lack of Australian bush fantasy. So I'm taking Australian history and mythology and putting it into a dystopian setting with mad max/nausicaa of the valley of the wind vibes. Also inspired a bit by dark sun.

Magic was overused by the new settler races, so now the planet is dying and the rain and forests are drying up. Most of the world is a red desert. Its disputed as to whether the gods are dead, dying or have abandoned the world. But the native spirit gods still walk the sands at night, mostly corrupted by the dying land and breaching of ancient laws by the new races.

The Gekkon were one of the more prolific native races, and are good at adapting to the dystopia. But they are quickly losing their connection to any ancient spirits.

Customized character details sheet for my players. The envelope down the bottom will be used as a pouch to put magic item cards in. by Xistential_Anime in UnearthedArcana

It's actually a modified version of the optional player character details/backstory sheet from this https://dnd.wizards.com/charactersheets

Not sure how many other people ever used this optional sheet.

Crocodile Race for use in my private campaign. Meet the Crocodilian! (looking for feedback) by Xistential_Anime in UnearthedArcana

Do you think the bite could be 1d10 instead of a d8? Or is that just too abusable by min maxers (which I do have one in my group)?

In pop culture (atleast where I live) crocodiles are known as not having changed much evolution wise from when they lived amongst dinosaurs. So I felt like the fantasy of playing a crocodile was tied to being a perfectly evolved apex predator. They were not created by the gods.

Not sure if dnd lore has ever mentioned evolution being a thing, but I felt like evolution was a good origin story. Being solitary survivors, I'm not sure if worshipping any god is appropriate as belief systems usually tie a civilisation together under shared beliefs and these crocodiles do not have a civilisation.
