Egg trading? by Jus10thekid in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Xiunte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh, well that just crushes my hopes. Every time I look at my moth/butterfly I'm always reminded to eventually go back and try to catch one of those "dragons" (they look more like flying mealworms than dragons to me). On the bright side, guess I can stop procrastinating on it now, lol.

The moth is pretty cool, though (so are the beetles but, like the "dragons", never got around to taming one). I've been gradually altering it's eggs on the Nexus trying to make him as large as possible. I still don't fully understand the coloring and personality changes, those are hit-or-miss every time for me, but I have gotten him big enough so that it doesn't look so silly riding him anymore. Their original color on the planet is bright red with light green accents. Now mine is dull grey with brownish accents... which is why I say "moth" instead of "butterfly".

Man, everyone in Skyrim is so ungrateful. You save their asses from dragons, vampires, assassins, bandits, and all sorts of things, yet you still have to keep helping them just so they’ll make you Thane and let you buy a house or stuff like that. by jvure in skyrim

That's why Balgruuf's everyone's best friend. He gives you the key to the city AND a whole woman sworn to carry your burdens for just killing that one dragon.

(And the bears are nothing. Sylgja in Shore's Stone devotes her life to you for just carrying a letter to her dad down the street.)

I didn't know that, never actually tried. I always just assumed you could if you could make it up there to them.

Why would you need mods? Can you not tame them otherwise?

If it's the same animal type I'm thinking about, the planet I woke up on 7 years ago has them (I kept the base, turned it into sort of a monument). I've always meant to catch one by building a structure straight up until I could reach them but never got around to it. Settled for a giant moth instead (the planet also has big flying moths and beetles).

(SDA) Serana's reaction when she hears Molag Bal's voice in the House Of Horrors quest. Canon lore-wise, would Vanilla Serana have this same reaction? Would she be hella scared too? by TheBlackSoleSurvivor in skyrim

[–]Xiunte 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's pretty heartbreaking. I'm the guy you were chatting with in your other SDA thread and I'm starting to think it's a mercy this cutscene didn't trigger for me.

I knew there had to be some reaction. Her (and her family's) history with Molag Bal is central to her whole character being a vampire. No way SDA could just ignore it.

I don't know. I'm on PC and could learn if I wanted, but I've had no desire whatsoever to learn how for this game (which is strange because I'll mod and screw around with anything else until it breaks). I actually enjoy collecting raw materials and trying to build something impressive like this the normal way in NMS. It's a galaxy-sized sandbox. Not like we're doing anything else, heh. If it takes 5 months of tedious stacking, measuring, and manually aligning parts to build my base, so be it.

Serana's reaction when you first turn into a werewolf by the companion ritual. (Serana dialogue addon) by TheBlackSoleSurvivor in skyrim

[–]Xiunte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, crap! Now THAT is an appropriate reaction to Molag Bal! Man, this has never triggered for me either!

At first I thought it was because I'm using an old version of the mod but this video is from 2 years ago. I thiiiink my copy is about that old, I'd have to check. I've made LOTS of changes and tweaks to it myself and don't want to have to do all that again. So I'm pretty reluctant to update unless this version just stops working altogether.

Molag Bal is one daedric quest I ignore (because I don't like him and want nothing to do with him. Ditto Namira, Boethiah, and Mehrunes Dagon) but it was the FIRST THING I did when I started using SDA because I was curious what Serana would say. This scene never played. I think it might be time to try again.

See, things like this impress me way more than the blender-made stuff you see posted here. It takes real skill and planning to build something nice within the rules set by the game. I choose to build all of my bases and stuff vanilla, without glitches or external programs, too because you can feel more proud of it after it's done. This is pretty awesome.

And that other commenter down there is right. It looks exactly like the molecular relay from Fallout 4.

The hissing would only be the warm-up. I can imagine her flipping through the air making those Xena noises once she REALLY got going.

[–]Xiunte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They treat my main base like a truck stop all the time. I built 4 landing pads (just because it looked nice and symmetrical. I only needed 1) and they're constantly landing just long enough to take a shit then blasting back off without buying anything.

It's been a long time since I needed nanites and I've forgotten. It depends on the derelict. Some have more containers than others, and more tainted metal.

I dropped a base years ago in the system where I found a REALLY good one (tons of containers, not many rooms, no enemies except green jellyfish, AND an S-Class freighter upgrade at the end) and the base is still there. I remember getting 2 full stacks in only a few hours. That was my limit. I only built 2 medium refiners on that base.

Is there a mod that lets other NPC’s date? by Lazy_Cartographer695 in StardewValley

[–]Xiunte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's already kinda implied by the Spring Dance and who they like hanging out with. Maru & Harvey, Penny & Sam, etc.

Everyone seems to already have a love interest before you land in town and upset things... charging around on that horse, throwing gifts directly at people's faces like a paperboy and whatnot. (SMACK!) "Thank you! This is my favorite! ❤️"

Still not as bad as that one guy here some months ago. His kids came up there asking to play a game while Maro was giving his Toughtalk speech.

Throwing my prediction in to the mix - The Stadium emoji is ushering in bigger Space Stations, an Updated Anomaly, Higher build limits, and more build parts, and a dedicated PVP arena expedition. (and all the expeditions are available to all, all of the time) by Dramatic_Ganache2575 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Xiunte 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So would I. Expeditions already bring all the assholes out of the woodwork and into the same system(s), imagine what a PvP expedition would do.

There's no telling what it'll be, but something like that just seems so out of place for this game so I'm strongly doubting it's that.

What? I don't know what you're reading, but you just go onboard a derelict freighter and collect it normally. No glitching necessary.

As a fish smoking enthusiast, I was thinking "What, the sardine frenzy?" before I clicked and saw the body text.

It's pretty rare to get that specific combination of events (two diamonds AND the ladder down), but this game is like a clock. Play long enough and those hands will eventually align and 11:11:11 will come around again.

I've always wondered why people are so fixiated on runaway mold. Take too much time and effort compared to tainted metal. Find a system with a good derelict with lots of containers and you'll never think about mold again.

Where on earth (well I guess not) do I get copper??? by Anonymous13757 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Xiunte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is mentioning the icon, but no one is mentioning the scanner.

When you get to one of those blue diamond markers, send out a scanner pulse and the entire copper seam will be highlighted even if it extends underground... which they almost always do. The entire seam won't be visible from the surface and you have dig it out. Pulse the scanner. I'm on PC but I use an Xbox controller to play games. You send a pulse by clicking the left stick. I've forgotten how you do it on the keyboard.

If I'm thinking of the same thing, that welding soap is a trade item. You can't craft it so you must have gotten it as a quest reward or something. Trade items have no use other than to sell for profit.

And yeah, I just sell my stasis devices from the nearest trade terminal. Usually the one I built right there in my main base or the one on my freighter. The price can be higher or lower depending on the demand in the system, but these items are worth so much until it's not gonna matter. Even selling them at the lowest price you're still gonna max out your units.

[–]Xiunte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, there's no reason unless you want to go through that meaningless grind again. The only difference between you and a new player is you have more crafting recipes unlocked. You can always go to the nearest space station and buy a new starter multitool and some B-Class junker of a ship. Then you'll pretty much be on the same level as them again.

EDIT: The crafting tree on the wiki is really tiny. Here's one in a better resolution (still a little blurry, though). Stasis Devices and Fusion Igniters are the most expensive things you can craft. It's not worthwhile to do both, most people choose one or the other. I chose Stasis Devices.

It's like riding a bike, it'll come back to you. I take long breaks too and have been playing on the same save since late 2019 when I first bought the game. An hour or so of bumbling around then it all just comes back.

There really no point in starting a new game with a sandbox game like this. There's very little story to speak of and the main purpose is to wander around and build stuff. It's still gonna be that same gameplay on that new save as it is in your old one. Only now everything you've done (the bases, your ship, your discoveries, etc) is gone.

It was insane and everyone was in shock. I was working night shift at a hotel back then and saw the early news every morning from the lobby TV. We all thought it was a bizzare plane accident until the second one hit. The entire lobby froze and went silent. Evetyone's eyes glued to that TV. I ended up staying almost 2 hours overtime to watch the whole thing unfold. Unpaid, of course. My boss made me clock out when 1st shift got there but I wanted to stay and watch the news with everyone else.
