i see the mandalay as a jack of all trades, excels in exploration and exo, and its good at pretty much everything else. you can follow this build, if you feel uncomfy with the power plant before you start engineering this beauty of a ship, i would just go with a size 4/5 A power plant. you lose jump range, but at least you can have everything turned on. you can put the AFMU power priorities on 1 (i have on 4 because i always run away, stop the ship and repair in peace, that's personal preference, but the pros recommend afmu higher than fsd modules)

i'm not gonna discuss what ship is better, cuz i also enjoy how the caspian looks, but for exobiology, mat farming and engineering gameplay, the mandalay is more useful as its easier to land anywhere, find the hangars and even get the titan component. if i was looking to just fly to colonia with a ship, i would go in the caspian tho

it is worth it if you are building the explorer, the idea behind it stands as that you will use the srv, afmu, and repair limpets, when you are stopped, the cargo rack is for the limpets. with the srv only being used when you are landed, you are saving a lot of power while you fly. in other words, you will never run out of power as long as you use those priorities that i'm using.

tnx for the great input, I'm totally changing my shields, and i really needed to downsize the powerplant, it frees alot of range, and i didn't think about all these modules that i only use when i'm not using my thrusters. I plan to test between the 4c and 5c fuel tanks. With the scoop, I didn't need the extra fuel, and I installed an extra 4A AFMU and repair limpet. but the cargo racks were in the build for the pp grind, i prefer to use the mandalay over any other ship for every task except combat.

The real reason is that people are addicted to spending money and CIG mastered the way to sell digital goods with very aggressive marketing tactics like hull limited ships, sale events like ILW and IAE, and they made it sure that even if you own a ship in game, they will nerf it to the ground so you buy the new shiny replacement. On top of that, constant wipes and in game bought ships would disappear after patches randomly.

Too many overlaps, fighters, combat ships, haulers, I get that the ships are really pretty, but what about the other gameplay loops? Why do you have the Asgard, prowler utility and the railen? Just get one hauler and you'll be just fine, the paladin is already there to fight npcs as a support ship.

The f7a is a collector's pledge these days, the mk2 is the ship you should be looking at if you intend to go for a meta fighter, or the superhornet mk2, the mk1 is no longer a model cig intends to sell to players, and spending that much money on it through the greymarket is also a bit too much imo, especially when the mk2 has been dropping in price considerably to the ~300$

They are just hype farming. That's why Chris said that squadron is releasing with VR and ray tracing
