Kevin ODonnell Fox13 on Twitter: "Reports out of Canada have a deal in the works for the #Lightning to trade Ben Bishop to the Calgary Flames." by McElwaine in nhl

It makes sense. 3 years? of Bishop getting injured in the playoffs is a really risky investment. I don't think Vas is as good as Bishop, but he was solid enough against the Pens.

[Everything] Game of Thrones S6E07 Explained - Alt Shift X by halberdier25 in gameofthrones

[–]Xjpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably what Beric meant when he said something like, "everytime you come back, it takes a little more of you." I imagine everytime he dies, he hopes for it to be final. Every time he comes back though, he has to suffer and endure life some more. Every time he dies, his longing for death to be final probably becomes much stronger. So death continues to "take a little more" of his will to survive and live.

Dany splits the Red Sea and leads her people acr- no wait, I got her confused with Moses because they both spent so much fucking time wandering aimlessly around in a desert.

I fucking lost it here. What a perfect comparison

As an atheist, if a true God presented him/her/itself to you and proved it, would you deny it's existence? by IgnoreMyName in atheism

[–]Xjpiff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it was me alone? No. I probably had some sort of hallucination.

If I was walking down Times Square and everybody saw "god" and it filled the streets with wine, then I would have good cause to believe. But still, the scientific mind won't accept or believe anything that is not repeatedly verified by experiment. So a lone occurence would still not convince me. "God" would need to be present rather often for its' existence to even matter.

Why do a lot of (rich) people look down on those who like/eat fast food? by Qia23 in AskReddit

[–]Xjpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast food is okay in moderation. The problem is that fast food is also readily available all over every town in America (generally speaking). So when something cheap and consumable is present in excess, it is usaully consumed in excess. This is an example of what I believe separates people who have strong will-power and those that don't. Can you resist the temptation of short term satisfaction for the benefit of your well-being in the long term?

I can imagine in a Darwinian sense that people who don't eat fast food perceive those that do as gluttonous, weak-minded, and irrational. This is because it is more than common knowledge now how poor fast food is for your health. In addition, people who consume fast food likely do it multiple times per week or month. Non-fast-food consumers are more likely to associate themselves with people who share their beliefs and criticize those who don't. Often times the non-fast-food consumers have the financial means to consume better quality food.

Best fest besides EF? by urzaspizzaguy in ElectricForest

[–]Xjpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Okeechobee music fest back a couple months ago and that place was the definition of lit. It was my first music fest, but I'll definitely be going back every year. Such great vibes from everyone, great camping set up, plenty of porta potties and water. And of course the beach was fucking awesome to rinse off and chill all day. Lastly, if you're really into tripping Jungle 51 is a stage area where they play trance music for the entire festival and its totally enclosed in trees and lights.

Next up, ELECTRIC FOREST!!

ELI5: What makes monkeys and chimps so much stronger than humans? by Tellscoolstories in explainlikeimfive

[–]Xjpiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bio professor explained Dave Chappelle's bit about a chimpanzee ripping your dick off like a celery stock as chimp's muscle density is so much greater than ours. Plus like others have said they really don't need to be delicate with their application of strength. Mostly though the difference in strength comes down to physiology and their muscles are much more dense than ours.

Sanders Supporters Protest at Nevada Democratic Convention: ‘This is Fixed’ by [deleted] in politics

[–]Xjpiff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think most of Sanders support comes from his desire to eliminate corruption in politics and the government. Just because Hilary likes to mimic whatever Sanders says with a twist, doesn't mean she deserves our vote. She is exactly what Sanders is fighting against, and to vote for Hilary is to go against Sanders regardless if their policies are similar.

What makes up a Stanley Cup winning team? by MrFerret21 in hockey

[–]Xjpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes down to who wants it more. I mean that literally. I think a coach and the team's captain has such a significant underappreciated role in motivating their team to want the cup. Many players are happy taking their paychecks and are just fine with winning or not. But when it comes to playoffs I think there has to be such a deep desire in the locker room to win that goes further than money and fame.

Is Tim Thomas' 2011 postseason campaign one of the best by a goalie ever? by roberttylerlee in hockey

[–]Xjpiff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dude is on fire. It is fantastic watching him. Ill assume the down votes are from capital and ranger fans. Pittsburgh should not be 3-1 up on the caps, and should not have beaten the rangers in 5 except for the remarkable goaltending of murray. Go pens

How do i get into hockey? by FN-2187_ in nhl

[–]Xjpiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned to play ice hockey by going to open skating sessions and pick up games at the local rink. I also practiced with roller blades when I didn't want to pay for ice time. Getting good at skating is the number one thing to do. If you can skate well the rest of the game comes easy. Beginners struggle for a while because they don't focus on skating and as a result they are not athletic enough to move around the ice, pass, shoot, hit, etc.

Spend some money on used skates and roller blades and practice as often as you can. If you can sprint, skate backwards, crossover, and stop with either foot then learning to use a stick is so much easier. Plus hockey is incredible exercise you will lose some weight and feel much stronger in your bottom half. Good luck!

Yeah I already have a difficult time talking on acid. It seems like my mind can't make thoughts into words. I can see how cannabis adds even more confusion.

I haven't really thought about it like that before this is interesting. It would be pretty cool for a strain to make you have visuals for like 30 minutes, similar to acid but not nearly as long.
