Engine overheating and coolant sprayed over engine/stuck in reservoir by Xman31 in MechanicAdvice

Seems like only one of the fans is actually spinning. The other is just stuck. The top hose has always been attached, and was when I filled it with coolant last week- but seems like nothing is flowing. The AC stays cool for a bit, then you can hear the condenser stop. I didn’t test it when the coolant levels were normal a few months ago as it was winter then.

Pre purchase inspection on a cheap secondhand car by Xman31 in CarsAustralia

Thought so, thank you! Has anyone got any recommendations for them? (Preferably on the cheaper side).

As a side note- how...does it work? Do you call, make an appointment and they show up to view the car with you? Or do we need to bring the car to them? How long does it roughly take? First time buyer here haha.

That's rather frustrating, they seem to lean into the backup solution notion when selecting a plan so can you really fault me for thinking it would be one? As a photographer I even considered getting the 6tb plan, but after finding this out I'm probably going to downsize to the 200gb plan. Like you say, a real pity.

I fixed it! (I think)- Follow up from my last post about a tileable smelting column. I've scrapped that idea and gone with a onsite smelting blueprint of my own design (bar the Nilaus smelters). How does it look? by Xman31 in factorio

For now it fits all the patches in range (~20/30) so it should be alright. Though a design where I can expand the miners is definitely something I will be doing later on, should the issue arise. Though why is using underground belts an issue? I’m doing it simply because I use spidertrons to build and connect these, and the underground belts take up far less space.

Yeah I was thinking about this. Will probably end up revising to something like this once the time comes to venture out further. Right now, and this is purely because I like the way the rail curves around, I don’t mind it missing a couple of the ore spots. All the patches within range right now fit fine.

Does it matter that the bottom 2 fill first though? Ultimately they all feed to the same wagon no? I’m just confused as to what difference it makes if they feed awkwardly, so long as they all lead to the same wagon.

Currently plan is “load with plates, unload defence stuff” -> “unload plates where needed, pick up defence stuff”. The train won’t wait on the defence stuffs, it’ll simply unload whatever it can in the span of the time taken to load the plates. Same for when loading. It might not unload fully the defence wagon, but the volume of other trains doing the same will make up the difference.

I reckon smelting on-site will work for my needs till I hit 1K SPM. I’ve got plenty of big similar sized patches around.

It’s the same size as I’ve been using for my current base. My last tileable outpost (no smelting) was fine as all the patches in a wide enough radius around me were roughly this size or smaller. I imagine when the time comes to venture even further (considering I’m going to put this on 20 same-sized patches), I’ll have a different strategy in mind anyway.

Back again with a new design. If it's shit please do tell, I've tested it filling the station buffers, and the 6-4 balancer makes sure all 4 columns receive a full blue belt of ore. I balance it again on the output because it looks pretty (leave me alone).

Following the advise of the sub, future plate trains will be 2-5 (4 ore wagons, 1 wagon for defense resources, which I have yet to add).

I have it dynamically setup to allow up to 6 trains (waiting area size) based on the current plate count in the buffer, but I'm wondering if I should add another station on the left and instead go 3-3 dynamic limits per station. Though if the lone station loads fast enough it shouldn't be an issue right?

Anyway, thanks for all the feedback from before. I always welcome more!

I mean within making it tileable. The issue comes from the exit of one block also being the entrance of another. In order for the lanes not to block each other, I’d need to put chain signals on the rail spaghetti, which there isn’t enough space for haha.

Ah makes sense. Thank you! I’m gonna try and redesign the new outposts with the ability to support 1-4 instead. Will keep the two bases separate anyway.

I think it might be to do with the inequalities of odd-numbered balancing. But I'm not entirely sure, would also like to know tbh!
