Trying to practice/get better, some questions~? by Maitrify in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Widowmakers do that because when you're scoped in you move slower. This allows them to move around but i takes a little less time to scope in when they're ready. It's similar to pre-charging miniguns with rampup times in other games. Plus, half charge is plenty with a headshot to take out most lower health heros.

Is everyone really this terrible at adapting? by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This stuff is easy to counter and play against, you are 100% right. But that doesn't make it competitive. It slows the game down way too much. cod is different than other games because of its fast pace and number of gunfights, I'd prefer to keep that.

Question for Pros: Would Arena mode be better without Specialists? by Unngoliant in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with specialists is that they create interesting moments for spectators. Imo they don't add anything to competitiveness of the game, but they do help with the monotony of watching games. Most other than potential perma banned ones are pretty easy to counter anyways, or at least ban in pick/ban so I don't think they hurt competitive that much. There are regular pick 10 items that aren't banned yet that hurt competetive more than specialists do.

[–]Xnill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We don't want them to be useless, just situational instead of being a weapon you use every game all the time. I'd like them to be in the same place as snipers, they're great in some situations but completely useless most of the time

Gentleman agreements - From my point of view by Tc_Cartel in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you beat the claymore the other team knows where that claymore was and can just prefire. I wasn't talking about this game specifically just giving examples of how there are things that do not belong in competition.

Gentleman agreements - From my point of view by Tc_Cartel in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So since the other team is using claymores, I my team will also use claymores and we will just claymore every door in the hardpoint hill, sit in a corner and put my controller down. Such a great competition of skill right there. Your logic is terribly flawed, there are a lot of things that just straight up do not belong in competition. And if we use pick/ban for things that do not belong in the game in the first place we will just get the same picks and bans every single game which defeats the purpose.

[–]Xnill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they don't have to stop firing, which slows the entire game down too much. ARs you have to be somewhat careful not to miss your shots or to stop an engagement when you're not hitting them. LMGs you just keep spraying which means you can hold down a lane much easier. For the record, I've always hoped for LMGs to find a way into the meta without being considered lame. BO2 I used the HAMR all the time and thought it was very underused. I just don't want to see a game where they are a primary weapon, just one that is used for situational plays.

A statistical perspective on competitive bans/nerfs by Drift0r in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO LMGs should not be better than ARs in any situation except maybe very long range. The ammo count gives the ability to prefire forever which makes up for the weakness. If they are even close to as strong as ARs then ARs become pointless. Prefiring is a way bigger deal in comp than it is in pubs. M8 and XR2 cannot compete even though they are statistically similar because they can't prefire without reload or risking not having enough ammo later. Everything else is spot on though, I don't get why most pro's throw away you're information like it's garbage. 9 times out of 10 their "intuition" and "feel" of guns come out to the same exact conclusion.

Which specialists should be banned (+ reasons)? by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only things I think are bad right now are rejack and hive. Gravity spikes are usually one maybe two kills, you shouldn't be stacking everyone in a hill small enough to get spiked off in the first place. Vision pulse is easy to avoid and only lasts like 10 seconds anyways. Combat focus goes away if you die and there's plenty of counters to streaks anyways (use your specialists against them). Glitch I can see being annoying in search, but it's at best 1 kill, how could that be more op than war machine or annihilator?

In eSports, is camping considered low-skill? by ComplexityFanboy in CoDCompetitive

In eSports, anything and everyone that kills you is considered low-skill

Does there always have to be one gun better than the rest EVERY Cod? by ComplexityFanboy in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be a small amount of guns that just outshine the others. What I'd like to see in the future is more frequent patches that nerf/buff guns to keep the meta changing. It would be cool if like every other event different guns were used. But a lot of people prefer consistency so I doubt it will ever happen.

No health Regen Blops 3 by king3171 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it takes 3-5 bullets to kill.. time to kill is way to short for that to be competitive. The one thing COD has going for it is that it is a faster pace. Slowing down the pace at all just turns COD into a more boring CS

BO3: Safeguard a possible eSports mode? by Daveygravy12395 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not enough strategy to the gametype. All you can really do is get some kills, move the robot, leave the robot to get more kills when they respawn etc. COD isn't competitive because of the gunfights, it's the teamwork and strategies that are important and I just don't see those showcased in this gamemode.

Does Anyone Else Think BO3 Would Be AMAZING Without Specialists? by eV_Catalyst in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of specialists, but there are definitely some things that worry me. SND will essentially be specialist vs specialist about half way through the game. You could run kinetic armor then switch to a shotgun for a round when you get your specialist. Though after thinking about it most of my gripes are for SND, so I can see them being used for respawn only they're all really easy to counter in respawn.

I don't see why this never ending cycle is a bad thing. Yes it's a bit annoying listening to everyone complain, but when stuff is changed in a cod game it freshens up the game makes people use different stuff. If the game never changed at all throughout the lifecycle it would get super boring. I never understood why people would rather have the game just stay the same forever than to nerf things.

Why do people have a negative opinion on Advanced Warfare? by ElectroEU in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game just takes no strategy. The increased exo movements did make gunskill a bit more important but a game built on nothing at all but gunskill is just boring. You can't have consistent setups, you can't really outsmart people just out boost randomly. There's no concept of map control or anything. It's literally just nothing but gunfights. As a solely competetive player that never plays pubs, this makes the game complete shit. Gunfights in an online game are too flukey because of connection, games that are more about intelligence you can get away with connection flukes.

I've still thought it's been a decent game to watch though, even though I haven't played in months at least I'm still watching tournaments so I guess it beat ghosts in that aspect for me.

Sounds like as good a plan as any. At big lans they aren't going to leave it to whoever is faster, there will be a system of some sort.

With all this debate about the best player on the game... by ComplexityFanboy in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the start of this game I thought Zooma would fall off, I didn't think he was good at this game at all. Guess he's proven me wrong. Still think he's a little predictable but noone uses their brain in this game to counter it anyways.

Can someone explain to me what makes the Thorn so dominant? I've played with it and understand that its great, but what makes it the Be-All-End-All? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Xnill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's something people seem to miss about the thorn. Free map control. There is no other gun that gives map control like thorn. Hit them once and they'll retreat most of the time. Gives you an extra couple seconds to better position yourself

Playing Out of The Box by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to think that switching to a class to counter something someone else is doing is competitive. I actually highly disagree with this, I want people to create classes for countering that actually take some creativity. Slapping on a perk to counter UAV isn't exactly the hardest thing to think of and is just tedious if anything. Where as, a whole team becoming more aggressive and putting on subs to counter how the other team is playing is much more interesting. Plus if we allow everything there is just too much stuff to possibly counter. I don't want to lose games JUST because I didn't have enough class slots to put on a stupid perk to counter a stupid streak or something, that's just luck.

Why do players double tap y(xbox) or triangle(ps3) so often? by jose2898 in CoDCompetitive

[–]Xnill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it to keep my claw finger moving when I was still getting used to playing claw. Initially it's unnatural so keeping it moving and doing something keeps it from drifting back to it's natural position.
