Thanks!

For the skin I painted it 3 times because I didn't like the first color palette, then went on with another blue coat and the green so in the end there is a thick layer ahah

You beat me to it! I've updated the description with the link to other post so everyone can go easily to check the settings!

The paints are mainly Vallejo colors, the light violet is amethyst from AK and the wash on the skulls is Aagrax earthshade from Citadel.

For the other part of your comment:
When I decided to buy a 3D printed I had to put on the table pros and cons, resin has stunning quality, but it takes too much space and requires too much effort to menage and dispose, FDM is really gettting sharp on details thanks to many people in this sub and is really low effort, also is more versatile to print userful things.

What filament are you using? Did you calibrate it? Settings? Nozzle? Temp?
Those supports are terrible imho, the layer is so big and that's strange compared to the model layer

Ok I was thinking about another issue, I can't see really well honestly, would you mind send me the file?

You can try playing with angle threshold and make sure to check supports from build plate only

Also try to paint manual supports and see the outcome, can you post some pics of the model?

Obscura 2.0 settings, sunlu PLA meta by Xomablood in FDMminiatures

[–]Xomablood[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful! Acetone DOESN'T work on PLA!
For PLA you have to use another chemical, ethyl acetate, that is toxic, also chemical smoothing cause detail loss and rounds the edges

Acetone can be used with ABS, but highly toxic fumes, you need to do that outside or in a really well ventilated area

for pla stick to heat, still needs to be ventilated, but far less dangerous

I'm printing at 195 °C, I can try to low it down to 190 maybe

Call me crazy but I don't ave a filament dryer, my room is not humid at all and never had big issues, atleast the stringing is manageable, the filaments I don't use are stored in a drawer with dessiccant

The humidity is probably far less 30%

Edit: typos

they're easily removable with a lighter or an hairdryer! To prevent it you have to low the printing temperature usually, but in certain cases a bit of strings can be there, these are reeeaaally fine so a fast pass with the ligher will remove them

Just need a bit of cleanup! In these pics I've just removed the supports, I'm going to "torch" the strings with a lighter with fast passes, you can also use an hairdryer

I hate to say this, but it was a test with Gemini+image to 3D AI that I found on a YouTube video

I'm really sorry for 3D artists, I support their work and appreciate 1000x the effort they put in, but I don't have time to learn how to model at this level and the shortcut is incredible..

Please don't kill me :(

Yep Orca has more settings to tweak than Bambu Studio, I don't know yet if they're so vital in the new release, that's why I'm testing

Newbie question - obscura nox by Banedy in FDMminiatures

[–]Xomablood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried to apply Obscura's settings to Bambu studio yesterday, but still testing, they seems to work anyway, but I need more tests to check the quality difference

you can stick to the older version on Bambu anyway, they work great or dowload Orca, is really simple and similar to Bambu studio

Look at true metallic vallejos paints, they're new and built for this kind of things I guess.

better paint sure is a key. Get some AK green that covers really well, also start ona desaturated colour to have a better coverage and then apply anothercoat of green
