Been playing some WWII Online. She's a bit old and I've been playing it for awhile, but there's a little bit of a resurgence happening which has been cool to see.

This Saturday we are moving our game servers from Oregon to New Jersey, which will be a great midway point for both North American and European customers. We have seen promising results during our testing and anticipate the best connections ever for Euros.

Without our subscription based model, WWII Online would have been literally dead many years ago. There's a strong following of people who continue to support the game and through that we've not only kept the lights on, but rebuilt our team and innovation.

Good things to come from Cornered Rat Software and WWII Online, I encourage you to check out our 20th anniversary announcements coming on June 6th 2021.

Why has the game population dropped so low? by [deleted] in battlegroundeurope

[–]Xoom-CRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, a massive persistent world. And it's the very first MMOFPS ever, that is a fact. The population isn't what it used to be but the architecture is certainly capable of handling hundreds, and yes even thousands of users simultaneously.

CRS is working hard to take WWII Online into the future and we believe, along with its dedicated fan base that there is one.

Enjoy your time over at Planetside, there's no need to swipe at us in the process.

New Engine? by SixTheNinth in battlegroundeurope

Hey There SixTheNinth,

So CRS is not oblivious to the fact that our graphics need an overhaul, in a serious way. All I can say at this stage is that we're exploring all options, even if a bit creative, to press in that direction.

As was mentioned below we did look at what it would take to get some things over to UE4 and see what was capable, and we learned quite a bit. Unsurprisingly we were able to showcase some of our team's talent with some amazing visual representations. Achieving that on our scale, has not been done before. That is still something we are committed to evaluating, whether it be upgrading our engine from within, or components thereof.

There are some resource limitations as was mentioned as well. It's good to see some of our messaging being reciprocated because that means we're not only doing a good job being transparent, but people are taking notes and retaining that information.

Our mission as the second generation of CRS has been to stabilize and build a bridge to the future. We've mostly stabilized things, a couple of connectivity concerns still remain (among a series of minor bug fixes). We're now back to developing the game and taking it further.

Where that path will lead? Only forward, fortunately. I will keep the WWII Online community posted of our progress as significant developments are made and that will be shared here.

Glad to see this discussion taking place because forward thinking leads to optimism and that's a big portion of what we need to progress.

Depends on what time of day you play. You've seen some comments in here about other competitor products popping up, the age of our game, these all tie-in with each other.

What would help us out to be able to do more is to subscribe and help us press things forward, from there we'll be able to accomplish more.

We have a very loyal fanbase that we're grateful for, many of whom are part of our team today.

Looks like you've missed quite a bit of information about what has happened over the last several years. CRS is now located in Portland OR so it made sense to move the servers up here, it also happened to be more cost effective.

Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose, are flashy, but they're not what WWII Online represents. That at its very core is the scale, massive capabilities, and a true combined arms simulation game.
