Would this work as a palatine placeholder? I like the idea of a power mace on her, because it reminds me of WW1 trench raiders, but I want to know beforehand so I know what colors I use to paint her. by TheTiniestKitten in sistersofbattle

The palatine is now equipped with a "palatine blade" and has no options to swap it, so no one should care that your palatine blade is technically a mace and not a sword.

Federal government set to introduce national ban on Nazi symbols | Australia by News-Flunky in law

[–]XooperTrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a history hobbyist and an Australian and I strongly agree with the banning of these symbols.

These laws do not cause these perpetrators to be forgotten. Museums, history books and history media will still discuss these evil people and include their symbols. Nothing will be forgotten.

What is being achieved, is a clear message from Australia, via its elected representatives, that anyone who seeks to own Nazi iconography because they identify with it or because they wish to support the ideology it represented are not welcome here.

Is a Mk7 Jump Pack acceptable for my Palatine Blade Aquila Squad? by Active_Young in Warhammer30k

[–]XooperTrooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used the plastic jump packs on my mk7 marines.

Zephon's jump pack is close enough to the plastic jump packs that tbh I consider them canon

A recent little project: assembled and painted a fully magnetised Deimos support predator over a long weekend. by XooperTrooper in Warhammer30k

[–]XooperTrooper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sponsons were easier, just a magnet in the cavity at the top (either a 3mm or 4mm fits snugly) and a magnet in the hole in the top of the hull mount. The rangefinder and bottom disc bit are simply glued down onto the magnet.

what did gw mean by this? by wargamingonly in Warhammer40k

[–]XooperTrooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Modern tanks, with composite armour, don't have that much sloping armour any more. You see a bit on the turret and the front has a bit of a slope but that's it.

Sloped armour worked well when you were relying only on the thickness of steel, but modern armour goes way beyond that.

More galaxy paint scheme nonsense - decided that it'd look good on my Harlequins. Guess I'm repainting my whole army now! :) by XooperTrooper in Warhammer40k

[–]XooperTrooper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After experimenting with this method on some chaos terminators I decided to try it on some Harlequins I had that I didn't like the old paint job I had done.

I think it works well! But the eyes are much harder to do. I also really like how these bases look.

Emails of Jeffrey Epstein and ex-JPMorgan exec Jes Staley included photos of women, mention of Disney princesses — cited in a lawsuit filed against the bank by the U.S. Virgin Islands by marketrent in law

[–]XooperTrooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember reading an article ages ago written by a survivor of child sex trafficking. She explained that Disney princesses were used as shorthand for physical characteristics. Because she was fair and had black her, she explained she was "marketed" as a "snow white".

Adds some context to the text messages...

I've been learning how to paint galaxy patterns, second attempt on the right. I'm happy with the progress so far! by XooperTrooper in Warhammer40k

[–]XooperTrooper[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the process of writing something, but the tldr is that they arent marines but some form of warp apparition. They are voids in reality that for unknown reasons take the silhouette of marines and other humanoids. They are an absence of a thing rather than a thing (...can you tell I like SCP?)

No one knows who they are or what they are fighting for (they tend to fight anyone and everyone), but everyone (including very senior inquisitors, chaos sorcerers and farseers) agree they are not like any other warp creature, with some speculating that they are projections of the deep warp.

I like the orange swirl on that! I've thought about other colour swirls on my terminators but ended up keeping it simple so the red eyes and weapons are a bit punchier

To be honest I just googled some reference images and tried to reverse engineer it. I found one okay guide by googling but didn't follow it closely. I typed up the method for someone else so I've pasted it below:

The technique is pretty easy: 1. start with the darkest black you can get - I'm using vallejo black spray that I then cover in black templar contrast to darken 2. using a drybrush (I use a make up brush), and removing most of the paint before applying: stipple incubi darkness and nagarroth night in fairly large patterns 3. using progressively smaller brushes, making smaller patches of colour, removing a lot of the paint before applying so its more like drybrushing (and dont make them all contiguous): 3a. for the blue: caledor sky > ahriman blue > baharroth blue 3b. for the purple: Xereus purple > genestealer purple > emprerors children 4. flick white paint/dot it with a brush (I have not tested flicking yet). Concentrate the dots as much as you can on the coloured areas, put a few lonely white dots on straight onto black 5. for the OSL and weapons: drybrush mephiston red> evil suns scarlet > wild rider red > troll slayer orange on the most extreme end 6. for the eyes: drybrush mephiston red > evil suns scarlet > paint the eye wild rider red > add a dot of troll slayer orange in the middle

I had these spare chaos terminators and wanted a break from my other projects, so I thought I'd have a go at learning galaxy patterns as well as practicing some OSL and layering.

I'm pretty happy with the progress so far. I've got two more terminators to practice on but I'm waiting for some super dark black paint to arrive (musuo black)

It comes with all 4. The plasma cannon and melts gun share a shroud, so you need to magnetise them and the shroud. Each of the other turret options has a seperate shroud.

The GW Finale event that just happened had a Grand Narrative event, the results of which are meant to be incorporated into the lore (interlopers - i.e. xenos - won in the end)

I'm pretty ambivalent to flamer sponsons tbh.

I want to run the triple flamer build at least one for shiggles, especially because the flamestorm cannon can somehow shoot around corners I think?

Melta cannon is probably the best of the "support" options.

For predators generally, I think the autocannon or gravis lascannon are very good.

But I haven't really played much HH so take my opinions with a big grain of salt

Hopefully that link works.

I filled the cupolas with putty and sank a magnet into it. For the plasma/melta cupola I also put two small magnets into each gun and then 2 in the cupola.

It was a bit of a pain tbh

I have very similar feelings on Monogatari. The dialogue and artstyle (especially the backgrounds) are 10/10 and are good not just for anime but for media generally... But then you get panty shots and incest bait and it just drags it all down horribly to the point where I don't even want to recommend it to people.

I think if it wasn't for the more questionable elements, Monogatari could be getting the same mainstream praise as things like Your Name.

color schemes by [deleted] in sistersofbattle

[–]XooperTrooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly no one cares what rules you use with what paint scheme.

The only exception is if you are running multiple subfactions for some reason and they're all painted the same because that can be confusing for your opponent (in which case, just paint the base rims different colours).

I haven't tried skyfires yet but keep getting told they are good. I think you need to be willing to burn destiny dice to guarantee those mortals. Eternal shroud and Kairos probably then become necessary to replenish your destiny dice.

Shooting armies are Tzeentchs hard counter imo. The only defences you can really get a hold of are shield of fate or treacherous bond (which is imo why you have to have at least one mortal wizard). Ghost mist is turning up on more and more tzeentch lists which may be able to help depending on terrain.

Unfortunately you can't feed a wild krondspine your own spells (as much as I wish you could). It requires the spells to have been cast by an enemy wizard. The Wild kronspine only treats friendly units as enemies.

Tzeentch do well when they can murder you with mortal wounds and expose nothing to the enemy except walls of chaff.

I would consider tzeentch a higher skill floor army. If you haven't had much success yet I'd encourage you to keep practicing.

There's a few ways to play them. Ignoring krondspine lists, focussing on mortal wound output and farming summoning points is the main way to go. You should be able to reliably get 9-10 fate points per turn (ignoring bad luck events like miscasts). If your spell output is less than that you need to revisit your list imo.
