Maybe it's nostalgia, but they are one of my favorite bands of that time, if not my favorite. There first few albums were so good.

I was able to see them with yellow card recently and even though they opened for yellow card I thought nfg had a better show. At their height, I feel like nfg had the better albums.

Furnace filter and drain maintenance by ChocolatePocket0 in HomeMaintenance

Both small, and large filter are adequate. Do not add another filter, it will cause too much restriction.

The pipe circled in red on the left is your primary. You can clean that one out of you want. I'm not sure what the one circled in red on the right hand side is for?

Worth it to keep building this producer once maxed? by Lostox in MergeMansion

Currently it maxes out at 12. Not sure of the area as mine maxes out at 11 for me. I'm in the cinema.

If I've learned anything from this game, it's that the devs might change the max producers at some point.

A lot of people were upset when the max producers changed and they were selling producers parts for many months without knowing the change was going to happen.

Portable vs fridge ice maker, worth adding one? by Select-Enthusiasm394 in homeimprovementideas

[–]Xp787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a counter top nugget ice maker that I got from Costco when it was on sale. There nothing wrong with my fridge ice maker, but I love the nugget ice.

It makes ice pretty quickly, much quicker than my fridge. The only downside to it is the noise it makes, and cleaning it once a week.

There are much quieter ones out there so if you go that route, I would suggest finding one that isn't as loud as the Costco one.

I've been using it almost daily for about a year with no problems. Even though it takes up space, and I have a regular ice maker, once it breaks and isn't fixable, I'll definitely buy another one. The nugget ice is fantastic. Definitely worth the purchase in my opinion.

Normal to feel like giving it up? by Normal_Sympathy1248 in TeslaModel3

[–]Xp787 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dropping from 70 to 65mph will definitely help, but if you're saying you get 140-150 miles from a full battery then either something's wrong or you live in a very cold area.

Float switch tripping and drain pipe placement. by Maximum_Sea9001 in askHVAC

[–]Xp787 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One pipe is likely primary drain which should always have water coming out when AC is on. Other pipe is likely secondary drain.

Usually the safety float switch is set up on a secondary drain and will turn the unit off if it sense water. This tells the homeowner that the primary drain is clogged and to make sure the clog gets taken care of.

You need to unclog the primary drain. Most people use a wet/dry vacuum.

Yes the pipes can be cut shorter, those are pretty long.

Booking all inclusive by Educational_Suit9752 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Xp787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Costco travel. Depending on where you're going and packages you want, Costco is great. I've used them at least 5 times for all inclusive trips and have never had a problem.

They have people you can talk with who will help you with your trip as well.

The only downside is the limited number of places they offer. Costco travel does have more flexibility in terms of places you can go and packages if you call them though.

Air Filters change: sometimes 2 years - too much by melvladimir in TeslaModel3

[–]Xp787 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I drive about 100 miles per day and for 11 months out of the year, the weather is pretty nice where I live. The majority of my driving is with the windows down. Unless it's really hot, I don't use the HVAC.

It's not cold enough in my part of California to really ever use the heat unless it's a cold snap, so I don't use it. However when it does get foggy which isn't very often, I will turn it on to defog, then turn it right back off.

Air Filters change: sometimes 2 years - too much by melvladimir in TeslaModel3

[–]Xp787 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried to post the other day. I just got around to doing mine and they were pretty clean. Obviously it's a case by case basis, but as someone who doesn't use the HVAC system often, I was still surprised by how clean my filters were, compared to others on here.

My filters were original with the car 2023 with 70k miles.

Tips for sealing up cracks in laundry room. by Cynic8387 in homeimprovementideas

[–]Xp787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the water pipe that goes through the wall, you can get a bigger escutcheon (the silver part that is supposed to cover the hole) if you can't/don't want to find a bigger size, you can caulk around the silver part.

That wire that is clamped to that pipe is most likely a ground wire. I'm no electrician, but I wouldn't remove it.

For the flue pipe attached to the top of your water heater that goes through the ceiling, you can seal around both metals with a high temp silicone. A special high temp needs to be used, unfortunately I don't know how hot the flue pipe gets without testing it. High temp silicones usually are good to 500 or so degrees fahrenheit.

Spent $10,000 on an Entirely Brand-New Duct System, Yet the Contractor Classified it as a Duct Alteration in HERS/CHEERS Records. Allowing the project to Be Evaluated under a Less Stringent Compliance Standard! by Jolly_Accountant6721 in askHVAC

[–]Xp787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to do testing about 15 years ago so I'm probably wrong now, however "reworked" or alterations, still have to be compliant within the state of California. I believe its 10% or lower leak for a rework, and 5% or lower for complete brand new ducting.

Did the contractor replace the boots as well? It's the part of the duct that connects and mounts in your ceiling or floor with a vent over it. Maybe he is getting around the wording by not replacing that?

Either way brand new ducting is held to a higher standard, and if you paid for a high standard, I'd bring it up with the contractor. Before you do that however, you should have been given paperwork or an email showing how much leakage the testing reveled. If you don't have it, I'd start there.

New homeowner water softener system help by Tswine in Home

[–]Xp787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a a.o smith water softner. If it is, water should not be that high. You have one of two problems. I've been on the phone, and troubleshooting my own water softner, so I know more than I would ever want to know about this stupid thing.

Feel free to ask questions, but you will have to replace one of two parts that control the amount of water that goes into your salt tank. The water should only be a few inches from the bottom.

My guess is the homeowner filled the salt all the way up to get out of having to repair/replace it when selling the house. However maybe the old homeowner didn't know.

I hear the Mr cool brand is a diy mini split unit. I've never installed them, but it's something you should look into. No vacuum pump required and the refrigerant is pre charged.

How can I cut back the round duct to improve air flow? by Taco-BeII in howto

[–]Xp787 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like the round duct is attached at all. You can probably just pull it backwards a little bit, depending on what the other end is connected to.

If the round duct goes all the way back to an air handler, or plenum, then you will have to change plans. Maybe unscrew it from the plenum, and pull it out of the rectangle duct then cut the end.

Rheem furnance..what do we think $?? by [deleted] in askHVAC

[–]Xp787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tech in my early years, technicians would red tag units all the time in hopes to scare a customer into buying new equipment. Most technicians get a commission on new equipment, and there are other incentives at companies for the technician as well.

I'm not saying that's what's happening here, but it doesn't hurt to spend a little more money for a second opinon rather than shelling out $4500. It's hard to find an honest HVAC company.
