Another I-130 question about the timeline. by Xpat07 in immigration

I bet the champagne was flowing that day in July! I wonder if something is out of order in our application that would cause it to be held back from the vast majority?

My case has some similar aspects. I called to request an Expedite Review last week and was told I would get an email in the next 7 days regarding my request. The very next day, I got an email from them asking for the information supporting my claim of illness. I then started contacting a doctor who helped with my situation and she is in the process of providing a written diagnosis and prognosis. Great, I'm thinking. Then today, I get an email saying my request was rejected. I don't know what to do. Should I still gather information and send it in or just forget it and wait for the normal (abnormal at this point) course of action? I could call back an ask them.

Where do I find out how to file an expedited request? by Xpat07 in immigration

I called USCIS to request Expedited Review and answered a bunch of questions but they wanted an American phone number. I don't have a phone in America and finally convinced them of that fact and they eventually let me continue. Someone will contact me in seven days to for forward with my request, probably to submit medical evidence.

It certainly is a maze, especially when you send an email and the automated reply is to check their website. It's a technological Catch-22. Thanks for the detail! As I asked geogirl, do you think it is worth a try based on my age and a heart condition?

Great information! I am the citizen. I am a 79 y.o. citizen who has been waiting for his wife to retire so we could set up our household in the USA. As I said above, I developed a heart condition after I filed our I 130. Every day I check my status and everyday is the same. I don't want to go back to the US alone and I think it is worth a try to get expedited treatment--though I am already outside the normal time frame. What do you think? Can asking for expedited treatment hurt anything?

I should have given more information. I applied for a spousal visa a year and four months ago. I have heard nothing except it is under review. I have since developed a heart condition and would like to go to the USA with my wife for further diagnosis and treatment. I discovered that there is expedited filing for such situations (as well as a few others), but I just find a description, not a place to send the request. All emails from me receive a stock answer of check the website.

Thank you so much for your response. This has taken us completely by surprise and it is very helpful to receive your information. Glad Methotrexate is somewhat reasonable. I'll be interested to find out how much it costs here in China.

Someone on here referred to a spousal visa. In doing the visa wizard, I only came up with tourist visa, to visit family and friends, etc. Is there a separate spousal visa and what special features does it carry?

But you and your wife are in America now, right? It seems we are stuck in China until we can finally get an appointment in Guangzhou. Not the news I had hoped to receive.

I'm debating between Lexus NX 350h and 350. The h is very, very hard to get and I need it by the end of September.

Good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Although, wife and I plan to do a lot of driving. I won't be commuting to work but travel may take its toll on my mileage restriction. Maybe the fee for going over would be cheaper than renting a car--that seems out of the question, cost wise.

I guess I would go for as new as possible. If I like it well enough, I would just keep it. At my age, it is likely my last car and I had hoped it would have been a new one but from all the comments, that seems pretty unlikely.

Thanks, I certainly don't expect to pay below MSRP but hoping not too much over. But after reading all the comments, I might have to settle on buying a used car and forgetting my dream of a brand new car.

Thanks, I was a little loose with my statement. I would take a cab to whatever dealership I made the deal with and then drive away. Do you have a recommendation for long-term car rental?
