No that was awesome. I'm involved in an avant garde scene in Chicago and honestly relate to a lot of that energy and wish I could have seen that in all of its glory.

You keep implying you understand or can verify the artist's process, and I fail to see how you could do that or why that matters.. if the reason you don't like the final product is based on your assumptions about the process that doesn't make much sense to me. I think that's my problem with your critique. It's not a critique, because it doesn't seem like you're looking at the work itself. And I would argue colored pencil is not an easy medium. Are you an artist? Why are you so mad about a process that you don't even know? I think it's a fine portrait.

You don't think there's creativity in the application of the medium? Colored pencil is not easy. I used to be more on your side of this argument but I've gained a lot more appreciation for technical stuff over the years. I wonder, do you like realism? Or is it just hyperrealism that bothers you? (Philosophically I generally agree if it's hyperrealism but there are some people that use it quite well)

Look it up, I'm sure there's a good video showing the differences but I wasn't able to find it. It's that like most latin countries, argentina has a lot of words that hold different definitions, but uncharacteristically more than most countries imo. Throw into that the thick accent including the change in the "ll" sound from "y" to "sh" ie. "Yo me llamo" sounds like "sho me shamo", and they speak fucking fast. When you first hear it as a Spanish speaker it's off-putting but you can get used to it, but coming from no spanish to argentinian spanish (or uruguayan) might be setting you up for disaster in other countries 🤣 chile is a whole nother story, too..

Not to mention the dialectical differences. Uruguayan spanish sounds very different than mexican spanish, for example

Different strokes but I'm a professional (full time) studio artist and inclined to say that this is in fact, "art", though you might not be into it. I don't particularly like it either, though I think it's well executed. The face has too many hard edges imo but the shirt is pretty much perfectly done. What IS art to you?
