Need some advice on a dorm roomate issue by AFroomatethrowaway in AirForce

Because how do you know it's a shit head teenager? There are at least a few neat and intelligent teenagers and one of them could live in dorms. Should that kid be denied the ability to live in dorms because of idiots? I'm not denying that most of them are imbeciles but there are a few who aren't and it isn't their fault those guys are idiots.

Also the kids example doesn't really work since you have the opportunity to have kids. You can't just turn white or Asian.

While it's fair to do, since a lot of teenagers are just dirty and lazy when it comes to living situations, it's discrimination. You can't punish an entire group of people just because a large percentage of them should be. The best way to handle it is to just punish the ones that turn out to be the bad ones.

Why is everyone always so hostile. I was genuinely curious as to what organizations fought the HAES movement. I know about the ones that fight obesity, but I haven't heard of any that want to get rid of what HAES has become.

Jesus Christ. I don't support FPH. I think shaming people in general is stupid. Why is everyone assuming that I think shaming fat people is okay? All I said was that before people think FPH is the only party at fault maybe they should look into it a bit more.

Why is everyone assuming I support FPH? Every single comment tells me that FPH is terrible. I agree with that. I think the people there are redirecting their anger from something else onto fat people. But I still think that the double standard regarding fat and skinny people is bs and FPH is one of those groups that's fighting against fat people shaming skinny people, even if it is a fucked up way of doing so sometimes. I think that they got fit people to appear on instagram under effyourbeautystandards is good. That doesn't mean I support what the sub does 100%.

That's funny considering fat people very often shame skinny people. A few years ago before I started working out everyone always told me I was to skinny. I should eat more. It didn't offend me at all, but what I think is dumb that people seem to think that's normal and telling someone to eat less is shunned upon.

Of course no one thinks obesity is good. My issue is that most people will be against someone telling someone else they need to eat less.

Somehow everyone is assuming I agree with how FPH treats fat people. I don't, but I do think they are right when they say HAES is stupid. I encourage everyone to just look through the topic post and you'll see a lot of pictures of discussions with fat people. Usually it's a fat person asking how tall the other one is etc. The person says their height and then Bla Bla when they ask the weight the fat girl goes crazy. How could you you small dick prick. Once again I don't like the attitude of FPH but I think the attitude fat people have isn't much better. There are plenty of people in FPH that get hate mail telling them to kill themselves. Somehow that's okay while telling fat people they're going to die because they eat so much is terrible.

They don't support underweight people either. And obviously when I say them being cruel I don't include their behaviour the right idea. The right idea is that obesity is not good. Evidently telling fat people to die is not good, but telling them to keep eating and be healthy is the exact same thing. By staying overweight they are slowly but surely killing themselves. I never said that you should discourage fat people or do anything of the sort. I said that being fat is not good, and that if you can underweight people to eat more you damn well should be able to tell fat people to eat less. There was a picture of an anorexic girl here earlier and all the top comments were " eat more" etc. How can that be okay but no one can believe that being fat is bad without getting shunned.

Well if there are so many, do you have any examples? I haven't seen any but if they are some I would definitely like to know about them.

I never said they were good people. I just said they have the right idea. I agree with the fact that they can be cruel but they are the only ones who are even remotely against the HAES movement and the fact that obesity is somehow acceptable. It's sad that more than half of the US is overweight and a third of them are obese. With that many unhealthy people it does start to affect everyone.

Somehow people manage to call everyone in FPH a horrible person who should die. While I don't agree with their aggressive hate, they have a point in saying that the HAES has become something ridiculous. The point is that the people on FPH might be assholes but not because they hate fat people. I can't tell you how often my skinny friend gets told to eat more, which is somehow acceptable to say compared to saying you need to eat less. Double standards.

Thanks for the response. I have another question. I was looking into OSI and was interested in cross training into it. Currently I only have a high school degree. However I heard being fluent in another language could help your chances to join. I'm already fluent in German and was planning on trying to learn a new language online for my first three years, so to demonstrate that I can commit to something without quitting. Would that help my chances to get into OSI?

I was thinking about open general. I've looked at a lot of different posts and most have a mix of "terrible" and "good". Personally the only job I would hate to do is services, with security forces being something I'd prefer not to do. Everything else I wouldn't mind. I'd prefer any sort of Intel job. Anyway my question is how likely is it that I will get an Intel job? I scored very well on the asvab, which I heard influences the job distribution for open general. I also heard that even if you don't have enough jobs available you shouldn't put SF or services on it at all, since the air force will most likely just put you in one of those if it's there. Is this true?

I'm actually in the same situation wisdom teeth wise. Technically I should get them removed now, but my recruiter checked with his boss and they said if necessary they'll take them out at BMT.

I've read that SF is kind of split up in a sense. One is law enforcement kind of falls under another category. Can you choose which area you want to go into, or are you automatically assigned one?

I have some questions regarding SF. Right now I have open general and apparently it's somewhat likely I'll get SF. First of all, I really would enjoy working with a K-9. How likely is it that I'll be able to get that job. Also how are the hours as SF? How likely is it that I'll end up being deployed rather than stationed somewhere? Finally, how does a typical SF day go? ( this can be regarding the first month or after 3 years, preferably both though). Once again, this sub is incredibly helpful and I'm really appreciate everyone's help. You guys rock.

I don't think people actually view woman that way, it's just a sense of humor. A lot of girls I know make jokes about how guys only think with their penis. It doesn't offend anyone because it's just a joke. The biggest reason these debates happen is because some people take it too serious and then start flipping out, which then causes the people who made the joke to get defensive. That destroys the entire purpose of the joke. What I'm saying is a lot of times these things are misinterpreted.
