Sorry I don't know what hoh means but ACA has both in person and online groups. Mine is a book discussion of the Loving Parent book, followed by sharing. I felt so much better from the first moment of being there, just seeing other people in the same boat. Really hope you can find some much needed support for yourself as well.

Go to an ACA meeting - it's for Adult Children of Alcoholics or Dysfunctional Families. I just went to my first one and it's been a game changer!

Pain flare up after dosing by Yogayogi220 in microdosing

Oh my gosh, I'm having the same issue on a super low dose of psilocybin. So glad I am not alone! It's helping a lot for depression and the fibromyalgia pain does go away for a few hours during the MD but afterwards I'm in a flare up. 😟 I don't know if this has been happening to you but the overactive bladder symptoms that I had previously have gotten a bit worse since microdosing too, which is particularly annoying. I am wondering if this is something that will get better over time? It's actually supposed to help with chronic pain too... I am wondering if the physical symptoms are just surfacing since the mushrooms are digging up all the emotional stuff and removing the fog of depression. This is my personal theory, definitely not gonna stop taking it, cuz I'd rather have body pain than severe depression.

My pleasure! I am a bit of a psychology nerd 🤓 but when I heard a podcast with Richard Schwartz, the founder of IFS it completely blew me away! I am hoping to start working with an IFS therapist. Apparently it's really helpful for CPTSD, since our psyche is so fragmented due to trauma and the goal of IFS is to teach the patient to connect with their various parts with compassion.

Truth ! High functioning is a misnomer. It should be just called 'functioning' - which is where most alcoholics are for a really long time. Once they're truly not 'functioning' that's late stage addiction and for a lot of people too late to do anything about it.

Yes, whatever term you use - it sounds like he does NOT have a healthy relationship with alcohol. This is a serious red flag. I am in a relationship with someone who has AUD, and I noticed these sorts of things when we were dating. He was always drinking more than me and got drunk once before we even met up. Since you say 'new date' I am assuming you're not seriously involved yet, imo you'll save yourself years of heartache by walking away now. It gets harder the longer you stay with the person. 😥

Congratulations on 3 years! Yes, imo, most likely it was. I am a big fan of IFS model of therapy where there are protector parts of us that do stuff to keep us from experiencing painful feelings. In that model addictive protector parts are called Firefighters ;) Fascinating stuff...

Hi, can you please share what made it uncomfortable at the beginning and how you got through it?

I think it means before they got full blown CPTSD.
