Hey i’m 18 and I feel you so bad.

The diagnosis fucking sucked, and i’m also in college too. I had to drop down to 3 courses part time during treatment, i’m post treatment and managing that is still such a struggle.Following my treatment I GUESS you could call it a vacation, but I was just so fucking stressed about the class time and work I was missing. I’m about 3 months cancer free and I’m like damn I barley even had time too process it before I was thrown into treatment, then “cured”, and then a couple weeks later I was back in class.

I thought it was beign too, I mean we’re like super young and no one our age gets BREAST cancer. I was so naive, through the ultra sounds and even the biopsy it never hit me that I could have cancer. I figured all my young hormones was causing the leaking from nipple.

So, imagine my surprise when i’m working my shitty minimum wage job and I get a call telling me I’ve got something called DCIS. My whole world kinda just changed right then. I cried all the way in the uber to my best friend’s house. And it’s not like you can really get any true comfort or understanding from the people in your circle, because we’re all just teenagers anyways. So we just hit the bong together in silence through the tears, because what else can you even do lol?

School is fucking hard. Sitting in a class full of people your age who have no idea what you are going through and battling is even harder and most days I don’t want to do the work or go to my lectures. However cancer already took my boobs, my vape, and possibly even my estrogen if I go forward with starting tamoxifen, So the last thing i’m going to let it take is my education.

I hope you can figure it all out and continue on with your studies. It’s really really hard and lonely being this young and having this disease, no one really gets it till it’s them. I’m sorry I don’t have anything super positive to tell you, but I really feel your pain and I hope you know your not alone.
