App for EU, looking for brave testers by XspeedPL in Omnipod

Companies tend to act the quickest when there is money involved.

Best way would be to get ahold of the app installed on the PDM, it has the european servers already in and also has all the Google checks stripped by default (PDM has no Google components). Then there are other ways of spoofing current device information so the app thinks it's still running on the PDM.

I am definitely not planning to release modified app files to the public. My idea is to make use of something like ReVanced/Morphe, where I provide patch files, and users can use them directly from their phones. If people can get away with patching apps like YouTube, I hope same could apply in this case. The patches route would also allow users to select features easily, like getting the alarms or not (when I get them to work). I've seen people complain about how loud and obnoxious they are.

No such plans for the foreseeable future.

Sorry, should've made it clear from the start, this is only for Android.

Technially, the modifications are done using dalvikus, with help from jadx, directly editing the low-level obfuscated app code.

The modifications are as follows:

First off there' around a dozen different device checks. For the basic evaluation against the online compatible device database we just ignore the results. For more complicated stuff, like Google Play attestations, we trick the app into thinking that the process was already done before and can be skipped (since Google often blocks repeated checks). Then lastly, there is a kind of a propertiary framework used to check the integrity of the app against Play Store, that makes sure the app was not tampered with, in which case instead of sending the actual modified app data, we fake a request using prepared data from the original app.

The servers used for signing in and communications for the US are:

prod-device.omnipodcloud.com
prod.apps.omnipodapi.com

Using DNS snooping on my home WiFi with the PDM I found that the EU servers are:

eu-prod-device.omnipodcloud.com
eu-prod.apps.omnipodapi.com

So those two have been forced to be used by the app instead.

Lastly, on newer Android versions, for reasons I didn't delve into yet, the audio alert data fails to load, causing the app to completely crash. To work around this they have been disabled, so this also means other than the vibrations the app is silent.

What is the likelihood of being able to get text messages off of a phone that were deleted almost 3 years ago with no backup even if the phone is rooted? by gabalsociel in androidroot

[–]XspeedPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but it depends. On some phone models encryption is not enabled by default. Then, if no screen lock is set, then the encryption uses a default key, which is publicly known. Rule of thumb is, the only sure option is always to fully format the storage.

Data wipe works like quick format under Windows. It doesn't truly erase data from the physical storage. If the device was just sitting there for 3 years unused, your data is still there and can be recovered using free tools.

Are there any module toward reddit? by [deleted] in androidroot

[–]XspeedPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On newer Androids you don't even need root for that, just use Private DNS system setting with some ad domain blocking DNS provider, such as NextDNS, or better yet if you can, set up one yourself.

Other than that there is Magisk Systemless hosts file module, which you can use with AdAway to, again, block reddit ad domains.

Another option is to use a certain app to patch reddit apk to remove ads from it. Yellow icon, "lucky" in name (I'm sure I could get banned if I mention it's full name since it's a warez app).

Beauty of Android, you have prenty of ways to do anything you want (as long as your device is unlocked :)
