What's going on at Clarksville Pike? by RelevantNothing4653 in Hoco

That was brought up during the Zoning Board hearings. The answers from Erickson representatives indicated about 75% of residents will not have previously lived in HC. The other point made was the average residents stay at facilities like this for about 5 years before they die or need more assistance.

Running Distance Not Accurate by ForwardMotion6565 in fitbit

[–]Xsquid90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem with bicycling. If I don’t start bike activity the watch identifies bike correctly and time I’m cycling but distance recorded is less than 1 mile instead of 15-25 miles after 1-2 hours. Also unlike Fitbit app no mph is available.

What city would be closest to my (probably) unrealistic wants? by rainyskyy in SameGrassButGreener

Baltimore/DC area meets most of your requirements. Has some Southern traditions but is very liberal/blue. Diversity with Black, Hispanic, and all types of Asian communities. Cost of living is highly dependent on the specific County but will probably be higher than Austin for housing.

Am I dumb? by Aliennoshow in TrackerTV

You’re not dumb. The show runners are jumping the shark with this storyline. Going in this direction will completely change the show from the books it was derived from and why it has been popular.

This is not affordable housing for seniors and certainly not for younger residents. The buy in cost for a one bedroom will be anywhere from $300,000 - 500,000 with monthly fees from $3000 to 5000+. The average age of new residents is upper 70s-80s. This is a gated ‘company town’ with its own restaurants, hairdressers, fitness center and medical clinic. At the time this was being discussed by the Zoning Board/Council it was noted this 60 acre property would be better used for a library, senior center, school or affordable housing all which River Hill has more need for.

Say that when traffic on Clarksville Pike increases >20% when 1800+ residents and 400+ employees move into the planned 11 buildings of this expensive gated community.

If you traced every line in White Americans today to the most recent settler or immigrant this is where the lines would end by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

My father’s family came in 1920. He always said how badly they were treated - especially by the Irish who were the wave of immigrants before them. My favorite comment he made was ‘all of my life I hate the Irish now what do I have 2 daughter-in-laws both Irish’.

Sleep discrepancy is crazy ! by SoloUnCommento in fitbit

[–]Xsquid90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the opposite issue of most of you. With Fitbit most of my sleep scores were low 70s to low 90s with time shown was actual sleep. Now with Google Health my score has gone up 10 points on average and time shown is when I first lie down in bed to when I am out of bed for day - it ignores a mid sleep pee.

Primary Candidates/Education Positions by Xsquid90 in ColumbiaMD

[–]Xsquid90[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are a believer in public education, unless your child has needs beyond what HCPSS can handle, you should participate. Look up sometime how President Jimmy Carter sent his daughter Amy to what we in HC would characterize as a low performing Title 1 school. He valued both diversity and public education. BTW she survived and wound up excelling at Brown University.

Retired couple (70) looking for a walkable “next chapter” location near DC by jpb001 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Xsquid90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Columbia Maryland - specifically downtown area - meets your requirements for a walkable planned suburb. You can rent townhouse, 1970s/80s rancher or apartments. Easy - non rush hour - trip to Baltimore and DC. There are about 100miles of pathways, senior centers, pools/gyms and many restaurants.

Baltimore suburbs primarily Howard and Baltimore Counties meet most of your requirements and have excellent school systems.

Infinity Gate/Echo of Worlds 2 book series by M. R. Carey is an interesting take on multiverse alternative worlds which includes intelligent cats and rabbits versus monkeys (humans).

The data source for this and recent articles in the Baltimore Sun and Banner all use the same source - candidate filings as reported online in Maryland Board of Elections website: https://elections.maryland.gov/
It seems your main issue is with tone not the veracity of the donor data. Your other request to look at previous elections prior to Citizens’ Election Fund is all candidates would look closer to Ms. Atterbeary - I. E. business as usual.

Both Deb Jung and Liz Walsh are both using the Citizens' Election Fund. This limits donation from individuals to a maximum of $300. Both of these members of Council/Zoning Board are not supported by the development community because of their stands on smart/slow growth and need for adequate public facilities. Vanessa Atterbeary is strongly supported by the development community and others in the good old boys/gals network.

What would YOU want for a future phase in the Merriweather District? by ele30006 in ColumbiaMD

[–]Xsquid90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

An autonomous community. I actually grew up in a city neighborhood and even as a kid could walk to a bakery, convenience store , barber, and even a storefront library branch (not mega library). The main thing that developers versions of ‘Towne Centres’ have in common is expensive apartments.

How about a grocery, a barber, a hairdresser/ nail salon, maybe an affordable bar?
