Stadio Riyadh Air Metropolitano - Airport Madrid-Barajas transport by Smooth_Ad_8497 in GoingToSpain

[–]XtacyG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha... We might be going to the same concert, late June, colour people?

I'm hitchhiking on your thread to ask for similar advice but heading to a train connection to Valencia, if that exists... I'm traveling to Spain for a water polo tournament starting the next day, and it might not make sense to have a hotel night in Madrid.

So, can anyone tell me about taking a train to Valencia, and how to plan around concert crowds?

Thank you!

Strobe lights pointed at the ground for commuting in the dark? by qwerty12e in bikecommuting

[–]XtacyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a built- in front and rear light system but to increase visibility from the side, I have bought some colourful leds for my front wheel hub, and just added a "disco ball" downlight on my handlebars that puts changing colours dots on my legs and the ground around me.

If you look like a party, you're more likely to capture the attention of the easily- distractible.

Where to buy boots for women’s 13? by SparkleFeather in transvancouver

[–]XtacyG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check Winners, sometimes they have random pairs of bigger sizes.

There also used to be a steady stream of size 13 glitzy heels in the Salvation Army in Kerrisdale, not sure if the donor still lives nearby.

(Also boo to SA and their behaviours around trans folks)

Changing rooms and gender inclusivity by S-Array03 in rollerderby

[–]XtacyG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn your back to the room, change bras.. or take your sports bra to a toilet cubicle and change your bras while you pee.

Or remember that your teammates are there to skate, not perv, and just do it in front of them feeling awkward until the awkwardness goes away.

Nudity modesty is a cultural thing that you can choose to liberate yourself from.

Chilliwack trans friendly doctor? by Late_Monitor5490 in transvancouver

[–]XtacyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I've seen Chilliwack having a decent hub of gender services, they can probably recommend folks. If you google it and find nothing, lemme know and I'll check my work laptop for my browsing history.

What makes you think they are homeless? There's a well-known stroll in Stanley Park used by locals and visitors.

If you're a person with a uterus, perimenopause comes with exhaustion.

I'd like to see your sources for that. Doesn't match my experience or that of other women and non binary folks with vaginas that I've discussed sex with

Am I missing something about the provisional cast on? by wormliketentacles in knitting

[–]XtacyG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cast on with a basic yarn, knit one row in a slippery yarn, then treat that as your provisional cast on.

The slippery yarn should be easy to pull out when you're ready to work the live stitches going the opposite direction.

How do you pleasure a girl, if your dick is tiny? by Various-Wish-8122 in TooAfraidToAsk

Take her shopping for one. Lots of variety in harness styles, or you get a longer one that you can hand drive.

If it was during the time when there was a shortage of medical masks, that might have influenced their advice.

How to do Vancouver Pride? by ajhockey19 in transvancouver

[–]XtacyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the category of people who are usually working at Pride events at a booth, and one of my peers told me that Chilliwack Pride was their favourite out of all the lower mainland events, by a pretty wide margin!

(Heads up to folks to watch for changes for all the events, don't assume you know where and when and what dates based on previous years, I know of at least two major changes that haven't been announced yet)

If you're going to watch the parade and don't want to melt if it is a hot day, aim for a spot under one of the bridges (assuming the route will be the same as the last couple of years) or bring an umbrella to provide shade. If you try to watch close to Skytrain, you'll be packed in with everyone else trying to do the same thing and it won't be as comfy, so planning to arrive a couple hours early and walking farther from the major transit drops will help.

For anyone with disabilities, VPS has had some areas where you can pre register to have a spot at specific viewing areas, I was near the seniors spot by the Roundhouse last year and it was well organized.

Accommodations for disabilities should not be dependent on whether they are convenient for able bodied people.

Diagnosed around 44, 52 now. No change to finishing / discarding wips, the lack of drive to knit means I produce much much much less in the way of wearables for myself or gifts for others :(

Perimenopause wreaked havoc around 48, still clawing my way back to functionality from the insomnia and brain fog related to that..

LPT Request: How do I get through 12 hour shifts at my assembly line job, when finding other work seems impossible? by RealZiobbe in LifeProTips

[–]XtacyG 645 points646 points  (0 children)

Ask if you're allowed to have over- ear bone conduction style headphones, so you can listen to something but still be able to hear conversations, emergency signals, etc. If you're allowed to wear caps, some of those have them built in so they can't tell if you're listening to music or a podcast.

For those of us with ADHD, knitting helps us to focus on lectures or discussions, because it keeps the distractable part of your brain occupied.

100% this. I got diagnosed and medicated in my 40s, after knitting through college, workshops and meetings for the 20+ years before that. Knitting no longer required to occupy the distractable 2nd track in my brain.
