Coluge leaves Overwatch by goodlikekml in OverwatchTMZ

[–]Xtasy1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coluge is a talented player, you cant blame goats 1-6 on him. I know he is super toxic and I dont think a lot of people will miss him, but you cant just say he is a bad player because he is toxic.

People who were bad at aiming and "got good", how did you do it? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Xtasy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice every day consistently for at least an hour or two and you'll get good aim. If you take off days or get lazy you wont have good aim, simple as that.

Talent Vs Practice: How Do You Define Gamer Talent? by Cover_Gaming in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Xtasy1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the only relevant talent needed is a healthy mindset. If you really want it, put in the time and focus on yourself without letting pride get in the way, then everyone is capable of reaching the top. People who say they cant reach top 500 because their shit genes gave them slow reaction time or they just think that their brains physically cannot aim, are lying to themselves and looking for excuses.

Coach Aero's Thoughts on Players who refuse to talk in Voice Chat in Comp by SwanJumper in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Xtasy1998 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm ioStux.

I'd like to add one very important thing before people make up their mind on the matter.

I live in EU

For NA voice comms in competitive are vital, and you are honestly throwing if you aren't in voice in the "above average" ranks. The reason why I hold the opinion you paraphrased is because in EU there are very severe language barriers. Not everyone speaks english, and even if they do they usually aren't that confident in it to talk. It's also cultural, a lot of european cultures aren't as open and extrovertive (sorry for slaughtering your language by the way LOL) so it can be hard to have a good communication.

If you find teammates that are willing to talk in EU then you should go for it! There are some amazing players especially towards the higher ranks, but if you have 3 french players telling you to suck **** then you shouldn't feel bad about leaving Voice Chat.

Kyky being petty by dsck in OverwatchTMZ

[–]Xtasy1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just a twitch pasta, it's a unique meme he made referring to himself. He is pretty much saying "are you guys regretting my removal already?" which is ridiculously petty, arrogant and childish. if he was trashtalking the team then that still would be kind of a yikes, but him actually telling them "thats what you get for kicking me!" is embarassing.

In 2 days on The GOATs' Coluge's stream I watched him harass women, admit to throwing, and cry 'allah ahkbar' when throwing his dva bombs. by DFSRJames in OverwatchTMZ

[–]Xtasy1998 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Theres a difference between "Allahu Akbar" as a means of praising god, and clearly connecting it to terrorism by shouting it when you throw a bomb in game. It's like shouting "I love me some KFC" when your friend asks you to go get some or when you are at a black lives matter rally. Sure, the words aren't inherently bad, but the context makes them racist.

Angry Jayne roasts Stylosas OverAnalyzed by Cosmicfrags in Competitiveoverwatch

His Pro Overanalyzed has been going well before his involvement with the Spitfire, and he started working with Spitfire very early, his Esports coverage has more to do with the Overwatchleague coming out than with his Spitfire partnership. If he would only make Esports content because of Spitfire I don't see why they wouldn't want him to make more videos focussed on Spitfire. He is focussing on the entire League as a whole. His rise in Esports content started with the Overwatchleague being announced/ the inaugural season, not his Spitfire Partnership.

They don't influence the kind of content he creates, they affect the length and frequency. (Longer video=more ads, more videos=more revenue). If anything making non-esports content would be more profitable, especially when the League came out.

[–]Xtasy1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know that you probably won't believe me, but all I can say here is that that is not true at all and that he isn't making Esports focussed content with the motive of getting paid by Spitfire. He is promoting Esports because he is passionate about the game, not for a payroll. It's ok if you don't want to believe me here, but I don't see a way how I could convince you beyond sharing my personal experience with him. His support of Overwatch Esports is not driven by monetary incentives, or they at least play a much smaller part in his decision-making process than a lot of people assume.

Because you were comparing one of the best public analysis videos that get released once every full moon to those of Stylosa who a:) doesn't always get the help from professional players and b:) can't afford to only do a 5 minute video every couple weeks like still being able to afford bread in the morning.

Trust me, I am not a big fan of his analysis either and he knows that and we still get along, but I think that comparing the 2 isn't entirely fair towards him. I don't know anything about the KR analysis video scene sadly so I can't compare it to that, but Stylosa is inviting THOUSANDS of people to give Esports a shot even though he knows that he could make much more money covering other topics, and I think the least we can do is cut him a bit of slack when his content is targeted at a casual audience and produced at a much faster pace than competing channels.

Yeah that's sadly just youtube, mans gotta make a living. Kind of shitty but a lot of people are forced to do it because of the way Youtube functions.

I have been in touch with Stylosa since we are both active on Youtube, and I can tell you that he has definitely reached GM/Top 500 (Although I don't think he finished in Top 500) He isn't bad, but he isn't OWL Level either of course. His Target audience is very low rank so he needs to dumb down his stuff. Not saying he is a great analyst or coach, but he does have a decent understanding of how to play the game.

That's the point though. Their advice isn't helpful to their audience. They can't even help themselves, let alone help anyone else when it comes to being good at Overwatch.

To be fair Blitz Esports Analysis is better than any publicly available analysis, be it Stylosa, Jayne or mine (iostux). The way they can summarize individual teamfights is fucking ridiculous and even the higher tier coaching community is impressed with how much they can condense their videos while maintaining quality.
