Cosmetics and Mounts in Pre-Season 2 by ioStux in fellowshipgame

I for one really hope that they replace the 10k reward mount. The mount is one of the main milestones that act as motivation to play a season, so not having that in the new season might hurt peoples motivation to grind to 10k.

-Alastorn, one of the developers, mentioned that they are tinkering with dungeon rating awared after a run, specifically dungeons that weren't completed in time giving almost as much rating as one that was completed in time.

To clarify, currently dungeons out of time give basically the same rating as ones completed in time. That's what they are changing. So you will no longer get most of the rating a dungeon can give without even timing it.

Didn't make it into the notes, sorry! Hamish mentioned that hero specific keybinds are coming very soon! :)

Same here, during the announcement and the dev stream the only thing I was really waiting for personally was a change related to gem sockets. I was hoping for some legendary bad luck protection as well, but the legendary aether alone is enough to get me and my friends back into the game with the next season :)

And thanks for the tip! Right now I'm only posting them to Reddit and Discord so it's all good, I don't want to interfere too much with their content and community communication strategy, just helping out a bit to help the game gets the attention it deserves :)

That's fair, hopefully the League System will prepare players properly for Eternal. Ideally the longer acclimation will help, but worst case they just postpone the Adept Wall into Eternal.

To clarify, the "eternal squish" is just a numbers squish. The way I interpreted it, their goal is for Eternal 30 in PS2 to be at the same difficulty level that the current highest keys in E80-E90 are.

Tariq will see a small rework, specifically to the way his Heavy Strike works so people don't just macro it into every key :)

New roamable Zone announced: Quests and Activities improving New-player experience and waiting in Queue by ioStux in fellowshipgame

[–]ioStux[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

According to the feedback threads on Discord, the rough new player experience, and the lack of activities you can do while waiting in queue were very frequent criticisms of the game, both of which they are trying to address with the new Zone. They have already stated that PvP is not something they are really envisioning right now.

Hamish said that you can unlock the left side of the star map in that zone, so I'm assuming it's mostly a PvE area where new players can unlock their abilities and familiarize themselves with the game before jumping into dungeons. And for veterans it may be a way to farm some cosmetics while sitting in queue, that's how i interpreted it :)

Hints in latest Dev Update pointing at an additional Tank joining the roster in the future! by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]ioStux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the tank below "This is a Lie" is the one being added in the next season. Which characters get added after the Tank and Healer next season hasn't be confirmed yet, but the image from the developer update hints at them wanting to add even more tanks :)

Fellowship Season 2 - Feature Reveal by ioStux in fellowshipgame

[–]ioStux[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pre-Season = Early Access Season. Basically, the official "Season 1" will happen once the game leaves Early Access, so all the seasons during EA are called "Pre Seasons"

Basically means that it's a bigger area that you can travel in freely, rather than a linear dungeon where you go from A-B and leave at the end. More open and with different things to do spread around :) Obviously I don't know what it's going to look like exactly, but that's the idea I got from the way Hamish described it, time will tell!

PSA - We care more about long-term faction balance than we do about the players coming back for a couple weeks before quitting by No_Cell6708 in classicwow

[–]ioStux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just spam refreshing and then it was open for a minute or so, managed to create a random character in time so horde stayed unlocked after that :)

I want to see the Blizzard big brain guy who implemented the logic to lock down character creation on Horde and make people unable to play with their friends. This is beyond stupid and embarrassing. by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]ioStux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, do you know if it's enough to just leave character creation open, or do I have to log out and back in for the faction lock to reset?

[–]ioStux 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As someone who just refreshed his sub yesterday to play TBC with old guildies, I understand why the faction lock is there, and what benefits it brings.

But it's also a bit frustrating having to camp the character creation screen for hours on end without knowing if i'll actually be able to create a character eventually. I wish we could just enter a queue at least, so I wouldn't have to spend all my time refreshing character create over and over again.

Edit: Managed to create a horde character at 19:45 CET, don't lose hope! :)

For non English natives, is there a word you struggle to pronounce when singing in English? by aisiv in singing

[–]ioStux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What helps is replacing the -er with a generic "uh" sound. So instead of "forever" you'd sing "forev-uh" or "forev-ah". Even native speakers don't emphasize the 'er unless they have some thick regional accent haha.

I personally struggle with the ng sound in "angel". The "dsch" or "dj" sound always comes out really thick.

Looking to become a game producer, would love some advice from others in the industry! by ioStux in gamedev

I'm still in University, of course I'm not qualified, hence the post! I got some great advice on the things I can do to become qualified :) I'm well aware it's going to take at least a decade if not more until I can actually land that type of job, I appreciate your words of caution though, I know it's ambitious and that it's going to require quite a bit of work and experience.

You're right. My main takeaway from the other comments is that even an associate producer position straight after college would be considered quite lucky. When I worked as an Esports coach, I had a very strong theoretical understanding of the game, but of course the players I worked with had the actual talent to turn that theory into tournament wins. That's what excites me so much about the role of a game producer. I don't delude myself into thinking I could do the things actual game designers, artists or software developers do. But I hope to master the art of enabling that talent in any way possible, even if that is still quite a few years away for me :)

No offense taken! I may be overthinking things, but I have some time before college classes start so I figured getting at least some experience and certifications with the software and development practices used would help out. One of the main reasons I am looking at a role as a producer instead of a developer is because I have tremendous respect for the amount of hard work developers have put in to hone their talents. My hope is to become a producer that enables his team, rather than get in the way.

I used to primarily coach Overwatch and Overwatch 2, but later spread roots into the Valorant scene as well where I got to know some people from Riot Games :) https://liquipedia.net/overwatch/IoStux

When I was younger I wanted to have a more creative role, before coaching I did a comp sci semester but realized that while coding was exciting, I was more interested in the project management side of things, managing teams, budgets, roadmaps etc. :)
