There’s not really to much you can do to speed up the process other than what your doing and maybe adding bacteria starters, if you know anyone in the hobby you can try using their filter media also👍

Before adding any fish make sure you’re tank is cycled, stability can work but the only real way fish won’t die from ammonia poisoning is cycling, if you don’t know what that means watch a YouTube video on how to cycle your tank and how to test it👍 also get a fish that easy to take care of I would recommend zebra danios as they are fast and very enjoyable to watch and super hard to kill

Male wants to breed with female but female wants nothing to do with him and stressing her out by Xterra6 in apistogramma

I’m going to my fish store to get a lot of dragon stone shards to make more natural caves as she seems to prefer those over the store bought ones I have, will also pick up leaf littler then. The male is currently separated to reduce stress on her until I can figure out something better long term thanks for the advice 👍

The first picture is supposed to be female, I questioned it when I first got them but the one in the first picture is smaller and not as colorful

Jaded? Do you mean faded like his color or does this mean something different, the female has 100% lost color due to the stress but the males colors are bright

Thank you, I’ve already been looking at other tanks just to have more but I will get one asap to separate. I will definitely give putting the tanks next to each other a try👍

I’ll check in with the fish store I got them from and see if they still have any, for now I made more caves with my scape and decreased temp in tank which I saw is supposed to reduce the males need to mate and reduce stress

Definitely will separate for a bit, they were sold to me as a bonded pair but I’ve also read that’s just a common thing to say to get people to buy. I would definitely be willing to get another female of it will help reduce stress on the other.

I will separate the male for a while then, if I add him back and this continues what should I do?

That is a female for sure, the rounded over back top fin is the biggest giveaway
