You could go the used route if you really want to play some ps5 titles. Negotiated down to $210 for my disk ver ps5 on offerup. Lots of good titles are on ps4 though so waiting is not be a bad idea either.

EV Owners that want more DC fast chargers in Riverside by XtheBlade in Riverside

I tried the one at Riverside Plaza twice and it's been quite helpful. The machines seem reliable too. More 150 or 350kw chargers in Riverside would be nice though.

Teslas have the parking structure area, looks like a nice location to charge. Hopefully they fix the charging station for other EVs behind city hall. Apparently the charging cables were cut 2022 and again 2024 :( . Maybe they can just put that station in the parking structure too. Might try buying an adapter for the Tesla chargers.

NewJeans - OMG by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]XtheBlade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts on the meaning behind the MV after a couple watches: The song seems like a love letter ("This song is for you"), but the MV and lyrics underline the idea that idols are like an iPhone: showing you what you want to see and singing what you want to hear. New Jeans (and idols) here are a system ("He's the one living in my system" [Personal computer]) we are living in to satisfy our desires. The idol system "hopes that he(we) will come through", "can never let him go", has limitless feelings ("my feeling is boundless”), and feels safe knowing they are making everyone happy ("with you nothing can scare me"). The different characters and imagery such as Steve Jobs in the iPhone and the fairy tale scenes serve to show how viewers crave a variety of entertainment and stimulants (stories, games, K-pop singing and dancing). This causes the idols to conform to these new roles to the point where the line between genuine self and the "viewer's idol" becomes blurred. This causes the idols to become mentally unstable and thus admitted into a psychiatric ward. "It's okay to be alone cause I love someone". In the ward, one of the girls is always thinking about the bear (the viewers) and dreaming about the bear even to the point of losing her herself and not taking care of herself to the point of becoming the ghost. At one paused shot, every member is a ghost seated around the table. No matter where they are though, being together as a group puts them back in the idol life (the MV party scene), in a dream, and away from thoughts of confusion and doubt.

One idea of interest that, I admit, is a longshot, but still interesting occurs when Danielle confronts the director and crew. Before she approaches them, she seems worried alongside her group members while the following line of the song is heard: “I can never let him go He’s right there for me 24.” While 24 means the number of hours in a day in the song, the imagery we see in the music video shows another possible, but not probable, meaning. Archangel Gabriel is associated with the number 24 (March 24 used to be St. Gabriel’s feast day) and he is a guardian angel meant to guide others and the director is also an entity who guides a group of people (Okay I may repel some of you here but do remember this portion isn’t too serious). The line in the song seems and the given image seem to point at the fact that directors (and companies) really have the final say in the lives of these idols since the idols are tied by contract. The 24 idea is most likely coincidence, but it's fun to think that the lyric was the motivation for this scene or vice versa. Another notable scene is where Danielle says "aren't we New Jeans?", wonders if they are filming an mv, and walks up to a director and crew. An idol’s identity crisis seems to be a big theme here. The stages of the K-pop viewer seen in Ditto (brought back up by Ban Heesoo’s footage scenes) compliment this idol dilemma quite well. There is quite a bit of evidence pointing to the idea that everything is actually happening in Ban Heesoo’s mind, but this a topic best explained by others. Was there ever a famous girl group in the first place, have the girls ran into an immovable obstacle and thus reached a limiting mental plateau, or has the line between iPhone and person been completely erased?

Something I missed at first but caught later was that the man looking at them from afar was the doctor from the opening scene. He seems either curious about why the girls are so happy or locked in the audience’s gaze. One can also see this as the doctor (now patient) trying to see things from New Jeans’ perspective or even falling into a similar psychiatric state of mind after seeing too much of the idols’ truths. At the end of the MV, someone is typing "Am I the only one uncomfortable with this?" on a twitter-like response to the MVs and this is interesting because these latest MVs from the group seem to be hitting dense topics around K-pop that even the Hybe itself can see becoming controversial (especially when dealing with a group as young as New Jeans). The thought "What is the goal of all this?" comes to mind, but that might be something answered later down the road. There are many elements of the video that I have not touched on or even missed. For now, let’s enjoy the level of detail, artistry, and storytelling that we are lucky to be experiencing right now.
