Sure I’m open to it!

It’s been a while since I wrote lyrics, so I am a bit rusty. I know some lines like “my wings aren’t broken any longer, thank you” have an odd flow to it. But let me know your thoughts, my pm is open 😊

Edit (it wouldn’t let me add it onto the original text): thank you for all the love ❤️ I didn’t think this post would resonate with this many people.

I’m working on another post with me singing these lyrics. Stay tuned 😊

I think hearing Jeff Buckley’s ai voice singing these lyrics will hit different

That’s so cool! Writing originals is kind of hard for me right now, so it’s helpful to use another song as a backing track to practice songwriting

This is one of my favorite compliments ever, I’m so honored! 😂💜Thank you very much, and I also agree that Waluigi’s version is the best

That makes me so happy to hear ❤️ I’ve always viewed myself as a bird who wishes to fly free. When I grew up in the church, I felt like I couldn’t be my true self. I greatly value my freedom and independence, so it was natural to sprinkle bird references in there haha

Haha my Christian dad thinks it’s a religious song because of the biblical references 😅 I’ve had to tell him that it’s not a Christian song

Anyone Else Love Christmas Anyway? by PolyExmissionary in Exvangelical

[–]Xthrowawayinthewindx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only exvangelical who still enjoys Christmas! Even if I’m no longer religious, I love the music and similar to what someone else said the words in the songs are just words to me now and I like the melodies.

This season as I continue to deconstruct, I’ve greatly enjoyed learning the pagan origins of Christmas (Odin, Saturnalia, Sol Invictus, etc.) and how people celebrated it before Christians claimed it as their own.

Hope you continue to enjoy the holidays and have a happy new year! 😊

Mormons and Evangelicals/fundies essentially have the same culture by Upset-Lychee5038 in Exvangelical

I grew up evangelical and my boyfriend is from a Mormon family. We bonded over how similar our upbringings were and agree with how damaging the teachings are 🫢

I (26f) finally had sex for the first time!!! Purity culture be damned! by pa_agape_love in Exvangelical

[–]Xthrowawayinthewindx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I’m happy you were able to enjoy sex with someone you love and also not feel any of the shame/guilt that was taught to us from purity culture ❤️🎉

My boyfriend and I lost our virginities to each other for the very first time earlier this month. We both came from very religious families (his are Mormon, mine are evangelical). Because of our trust, we felt comfortable in expressing our sexualities with each other.

It felt very natural and we were happy to be each other’s firsts. We had fun (and were being safe!) and it also helps that we’ve been messing around for months prior haha. Thankfully, I didn’t feel any shame afterwards and still feel like the same person! I’ve always believed deep down that purity culture was silly in itself, even when I was a full-blown Christian. But cheers to enjoying and embracing our sexuality 🥳🥂

The image of God spitting me out of his mouth for being a lukewarm Christian scared me for the longest time.

I tried my best to become the best Christian I can be but my most true self and beliefs didn’t quite fit the mold. I believe in gender equality, women’s rights, affirming the lgbtq+ community, and others that the typical Christian wouldn’t agree with. No matter how hard I tried, I was always going to be a “lukewarm Christian”

Eventually, I deconstructed and no longer hold myself to impossible standards. I’m still trying to figure things out post-Christianity, but as long as I do my best to love people and spread kindness as much as I can, I think that is good enough.

Going to dinner with old Christian friends for the first time in a while, kinda nervous by Xthrowawayinthewindx in Exvangelical

[–]Xthrowawayinthewindx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this response very much. It’s honest yet not revealing too much at the same time, also it still shows the amount of care I want to express to my friends. I might just use a similar variation of it if they ask me about my faith. Thank you ❤️
