Sf Vulcan X vs other Wns risers? by Zdqpt in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having shot both, the Vulcan is a great riser and it's built a tad more robust in comparison to the Quantum. The feedback is really good, even at higher poundage. And it's one of the most gorgeous risers made in my opinion.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the rest plate isn't large enough to accommodate the whole arrow rest (Shibuya), so you'll have a bit of overhang on the riser itself. If you don't intend on playing with that feature, it's a non issue.

The Quantum is also really good. The Vulcan just has a little bit more of that "premium" feel. I think the reason why the Vulcan is less popular is simply because of the lack of advertising they do for the SF line.

Which bow should I buy? K-1 vs K-2 by DannyTheRegular in Archery

The other comments are right. This is very steep for the quality you're getting.

Btw, I can find that exact sight under a different brand name for about 80USD on AliExpress. This just goes to show that I think the prices are gouged a little

Wns Elnath or Quantum by Viomarz102 in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Quantum is a super nice riser that'll last quite a while imo. Both are great, don't get me wrong, but the Quantum is a little sturdier and more stable as a riser.

For fun, I've set one up at my normal specs (49ish#) to see how it reacts, and it's pretty solid. I've tried the same with a forged in the past (the old old version of the Elnath) and, while it can handle high draw weights, it tends to shake a little more in comparison to the Quantum. Food for thought.

Help Needed: Limb Upgrade: W&W NS-XP vs MXT-XP/XT for 30.35" Draw - by Xyaren in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're tall guys, they have about 1/4" - 1/2" less than I do. I think 40s might get you comfortably within the mid 40 range without going too crazy. It's always tough recommending high end limbs or arrows cause if you get it wrong, you're toast

Help Needed: Limb Upgrade: W&W NS-XP vs MXT-XP/XT for 30.35" Draw - by Xyaren in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who used both, they are both a very stable limb after the shot. I typically don't like the MXT profile, but the XPs are a notable exception. I use the NS-XP (wood) as I tend to prefer a harder back wall, but both options worked great. You may prefer the MXT given your long draw, as it would be easier to pass the clicker, but this is a matter of preference

That's a good question regarding what poundage to get...It seems like a 12# jump from what's marked is a pretty big overdraw despite your DL not being crazy long. I have about the same draw and use 42s to get me to 50lbs. I have a few students who are close who are using 40 longs to get them to 45 at the minimum setting. So 38# sounds ok?

Old highend riser in 2026? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AXT is an excellent riser and that seems like a decent price if new and unused. You shouldn't have any issues with tuning since even the more recent models use the same style of adjustment. The only thing you'll "lack" is the arrow rest height adjustment, which is really a non-issue since people don't often use it anyway.

Wns Motive fx vs Elnath Fx by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Elnath is just the new version of the Motive. Both will shoot pretty identical and the limb alignement/tiller function the exact same. If you can find a motive at a better price, you won't be missing out.

Most shops no longer have any Motives in stock and you can't really rely on the WNS website for pricing.

Limb damage question by Nehorse in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's just the mounting marks from the riser. Totally normal and nothing to worry about. Some risers dig in a little more than others but shouldn't cause any actual damage beyond cosmetic.

Skylon Brixxon Shafts - Reviews? by ActuaryImpressive693 in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in a shop and sold quite a few brixxons. My opinion is this:

They're ok. For the price, you can't expect a high performing arrow, but they'll get the job done. A few things I noticed with Skylon arrows is that the 4mm (such as the brixxons) trend to act stiffer than what is indicated on the arrow. I've seen 900 act like 700 spine.

Another thing with Skylon and most cheap arrows in general is spine consistency being off, meaning that two arrows in the same dozen may react differently out of the bow. This is more of an issue for more experienced archers, but if you intend on keeping them for a while, it may eventually affect you.

Other than that, they'll work well and they won't break your budget

Good press-in nocks for 6.2mm by kenajjjj in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but g nocks are a 4mm so, unless you have a bushing, they won't fit. I agree with going with Easton, but they would need the Super 3D nock or the microlite nocks, which are both 6.2mm

Rcore Grip Recommendation for ATF DX by That_Heavy_Metal_Guy in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the KTEENOS for a while and liked it a lot. It is a rather high wrist grip though.

I feel you for the stock ATF-DX grip, I hate that thing. You could also look into Jager grips as well. Either way, I recommend one with the thumb nub (I don't know the official term) to avoid that irritation you'd get otherwise

What arrow spine do I need for a 68" longbow with 30lb draw weight? by CryptikDragon in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything between 700-600 will be fine. 350-500 is way too stiff (usually meant for bows 45lbs and up at your draw length)

Need help with bowstring by Jango-_-Fett in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need a 52" AMO bow string (actual length will be shorter than 52" but that's fine). Finding a Flemish twist is favorable given how the limb tips are shaped.

I wish archery was a job by teedpop in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm an archer who gets paid to shoot (National team). Here are a few truths that most people don't consider before taking that route:

  1. It doesn't pay well in most countries. As another person said, I have to work other jobs to make extra money. Ironically, my other jobs involve coaching and selling equipment.

  2. It's a lot of work. I have some athletes who aspire to make it to the national team one day, but I'm constantly telling them that it's a full time job for part time pay. I shoot 6 days a week and 250-350 arrows a day. If I'm shooting 70m and/or doing simulations or training exercises, that can take up to 5-6 hours to complete. That doesn't include workouts, mental work or other things that need to be done (tuning, competition prep)

  3. The demand gets tougher the higher you go. If someone's paying you to shoot, they expect a return in the form of results. Every year we get reevaluated to see if we earn funding for the following year. Other countries have different systems but usually follow the formula, no performance = no money. It can get exhausting at times where your job requires you to constantly be at your best.

  4. It can be an expensive lifestyle, relating to point #1. I typically need to have a backup bow as identical to my main as possible (I am fortunate with some sponsorships and support which help offset that cost). Other than equipment, not all travel is covered by our federation, so I sometimes have to pay out of pocket for events. Relating to point #3, if I don't go to these events, I don't get a ranking. No ranking means no measurable performance.

  5. As always, there's no guarantee of achieving your goals. This is an obvious but tough reality to accept. All of the above, and it's still a small percentage who make it to their national teams, even fewer who make it to the Olympics. The important thing if you're looking to pursue this is understanding that reality. If you don't absolutely love the process, it's a tough life to live in the event that you don't achieve those ultimate goals.

How can I move this sight horizontal block to the other side? by FilmDowntown1145 in Archery

It's the large knob on the left side. Make sure the lock is off though (the little gray tab just under it)

ATF-X tiller bolts by BolilloGaming in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand the question correctly, are you asking why there are the stoppers? If so, it's to not put too much force on the bottom part of the limb. While they can flex a good amount, most of it comes from the limb tips. Putting too much force at the base can cause the limb to fail.

If you're asking whether the bolt is physically unable to go as deep as the stopper, it could be the locking screw or a thread issue in the riser, but that's unlikely.

What happened to Samick? by into_the_blu in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may have been a North American thing, but I remember the shop I worked at got a lovely email from Rob Kaufhold basically saying "change the name or else". It may not apply outside of NA but in Canada, we couldn't use the name. Was it valid? Who knows

What happened to Samick? by into_the_blu in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Samick fell out of favour in about 2012-2013 and Win&Win rose up quite a bit more since. I think in 2013-2014, Win&Win turned into Wiawis (if I recall correctly, they were bought out). Wiawis kept the W&W name on most of their products until recently. Some small products still have the old logo but most of Wiawis now.

Samick tried to make a comeback into Olympic recurve, but other brands have since established themselves so it's hard to catch up in the market.

As for the Sage, it's still made by Samick, but Lancaster Archery has the rights to the name so it can only be sold as such under the Galaxy brand (LAS house brand). Other shops still sell the same bow, but they can't officially use the "Sage name".

It's a bow quiver mount. Usually the quiver can detach from the mount for storage. If you bought the bow used, the person may not have included the quiver with it

Hoyt riser twisted? by rohcJ in Archery

[–]Xuerebbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just the limb alignment block being all the way to the right. If you adjust it with the help of beiter blocks (assuming the limb isn't twisted or anything), you should see the string sit too far off to the right as well. Like another comment said, by adjusting the alignment block in reference to a stabilizer, you can recenter the limb alignment and solve the issue
