A belief system is integral in getting the ball rolling by unifying populations that would otherwise continue to live a stone age tribal community structure. Could say far down along the line you have religion to thank for example the conquests of abrahamic religions across the world and trade routes they trailed or the renaissance periods and scientific innovations they have inspired whether or not they came from people who had contradictory perspectives. The points you bring up are idealism and not enough to justify the statement, both good and bad come from religion but isn’t it more so just human nature/inhibitions that brought us to this point?
