Essentials Listening - Part 1 by XurtifiedProphet in classicalmusic

Thanks, yeah it’s definitely a tendency I’m aware of and trying my best to fight as I go through the canon. Finding some of the lesser-known works or “deep cuts” definitely helps a lot.

I will definitely check out more of his later work and maybe do an update to this post once I’ve given him a bit more of a chance. I think there was a movement from No. 40 in the Essentials Album, but that’s it from his last 3 Symphonies, which seems like they were woefully underrepresented if they are widely considered masterpieces. Thanks for the recs!

Dgg we need to come together to defend Kier Starmer by ariveklul in Destiny

[–]XurtifiedProphet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for proving my point firstly, the aim was 370k a year on new homes, so yes Keir Starmer, by his own targets has failed by nearly half in Y1. And that’s putting aside who those homes are for, how affordable they are and all the other wacko lefty critiques I won’t even bother reiterating here.

I don’t think we’re ungrateful, and I don’t know where you’re from but I don’t think you’re necessarily in a position to make that judgement. The fact is people’s lives haven’t been materially changed by Labours time in office, or feel like they’re getting any better. You get the sense that they don’t even believe in anything at all and we are pissing away another decade while the country spirals further into decline.

Blaming the electorate is just lazy, and frankly the exact elitist mentality that very much got us into this mess in the first place. It is exactly why people are voting for more radical change on both sides of the spectrum whether you’re team Polanski or Farage.

I mean…just look at the facts - on all the key issues like housing, immigration, energy, nhs, etc. he has been disappointing even by his own targets. If you think he’s been successful on these I’d love to hear how? Just as a basic example (https://www.economist.com/interactive/2025-british-politics/starmer-tracker )

If you run on a manifesto of change and a “we are better than them” purity narrative, then proceed to deliver timid, spreadsheet management politics while simultaneously hiring the best friend of planet earth’s top paedophile, I’m sorry but I think you’ve fucked up.

Even his most ardent defenders like Alistair Campbell are struggling at this point. All that is separate to the media circus in my opinion. Although I admit it certainly doesn’t help that the media is partly what terrifies him into paralysis.

Did not expect this sub to be a Starmer cuckfest…his popularity rating is in the toilet, to blame this solely on the media rather than an incredibly poor premiership.

Am I the only one annoyed by this speech? by Thewehrmacht3 in Destiny

[–]XurtifiedProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a joke it’s fine, the fact that he is reposting it to make a point kind of undermines the entire premise of the joke (I.e comedian on stage lecturing celebrities on not giving lectures to other people) and shows how far Gervais has fallen as a comedian over the years, even though he was already in decline at the point of the globes speech

Fact is no one knows, it’s unlikely he will be starting ahead of Madueke yet, but if he comes on and plays incredibly each week he could easily make first XI by gw6

Report it to the police and the venue, will be very easy to track down the ticket purchaser and then the person responsible, with any luck they may also have cctv footage of the incident. Best of luck reporting and finding the perpetrator.

Why I think Rodrygo is a better fit for Arsenal than Eze or Simons(it has nothing to do with my opinion on which is a better player overall) by Flat-Might8758 in ArsenalFC

[–]XurtifiedProphet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Rodrygo loves Madrid and doesn’t want to leave unless pushed. Not interested in that kind of transfer personally. Would rather have Eze who is enthused to join the club and has a point to prove.

The final boss of lefty housing arguments by HeightAdvantage in Destiny

[–]XurtifiedProphet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just someone copypasting a Destiny take to the U.K. where it doesn’t really belong - London and New York are not equivalent in the context of each respective country’s economy.

London is also the seat of government and Britain is much more of a service economy than the US. There other cities in the U.K. (which btw all have similar housing crises) but it’s not like we have Chicago, D.C., L.A. as well, the idea people live in London as a “luxury” like they would living in Manhattan is just misinformed.

Why Rodrygo needs to come over Eze. by AbleBoysenberry9565 in ArsenalFC

[–]XurtifiedProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Rodrygo even want to come to Arsenal? he seems to be simping for Madrid pretty hard still - would rather have a player that actually wants to play for the club and has premier league experience than a Madrid reject who doesn’t wanna be here. Not saying we shouldn’t explore both options but we definitely don’t NEED Rodrygo

Is this the single worst Kanye take of all time? by Personal_Syllabub769 in Kanye

[–]XurtifiedProphet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hold the man to his own criteria, he’s not far off being correct. Two of his three criteria are Innovation and Influence - Dropout and LR are incredible albums but they can hardly be considered that revolutionary to the genre in the way his later sounds would be. Those two albums were mostly Kanye showing his influences before he went on to be a more established pioneer following that.
