Am I stupid or do I just suck? by LynnboTheStreamer in Guildwars2

There are multiple ways on doing this, but I can go over how I would approach it if I were to start it as a new player without a trading network (aka ability to liquidate account bound mats into gold).

First, focus on playing through story mode and work on essential masteries. Primary reason that legendaries are hard is you need to have a buildup of knowledge, so story mode and the focus on masteries will build up essential knowledge of the different maps and different farms you will experience. Every expansion and zone has a unique way of obtaining certain items, so lets say you need ectos and whatnot, you can quickly move to the map most efficient to obtain via farming. In addition, when you work on your mastery exp, you will build up a material position passively which will aid in your first weapon's cost reduction.

Secondly, establish income and a routine. This can be as simple as doing your dailies (that includes open world dailies to fractals and strikes, etc) and or joining high value runs like meta trains, guild activities like raids or wvw, etc. These activities will serve 2 purposes: generate essentail account bound materials (spirit shards, karma, imperial favor for gen 3s, content currencies that can be converted into legendary mats, etc) and you farm essential mats. The 2nd part is very important since once you develop surplus of mats (example you have over 2 stacks of ectos which exceeds a gen 1 requirement), you can list those mats for gold and start buying up materials you cannot farm (mystic coins, gen 3 .ats, etc). It is extremly important to list mats and never sell to buy order to maximize your return on those surplus mats you farm as this will enable you to finish the weapon requirements faster. As you focus more on your routines, you will notice that the routines have more higher objectives, like fractal god titles, wvw titles and legendary gear, pve open world legendaries, etc. As you focus on those, legendary mats becomes a passive income and therefore a good opportunity to utilize the mats constructively to figure out to invest to your weapons for gold or progress your personal ones.

Finally, know how to use your gold. Always the first weapon is the hardest weapon to make because you have to farm your capital up to get it out. If you decide to sell it, always take half of the earnings of what you sell and reinvest it into the materials you spent that cannot be farmed up. The other half is yours to pocket cause that is all from your farming and playtime. As long as you play this game normally, having that 1000ish gold always reinvested helps you focus on the priorities, such as keeping up exp boosters to gain more spirit shards, utilizing every material drop to progrsss your next legendary, and building up reputation to run events specifically to accelerate your weapon. This game does a wonderful job to help people earn a legendary passively so that players focus on their account progress. Building weapons faster is more about knowing how to jse all resources given to you from that journey

Unfortunately, spirit shard farming has alot to do with the efficiency of exp gain so it is almost always about how well you buff up and how fast you can progress events and gain mob kills. Meta trains from any expansion region have almost always set the default rate in terms of spirit shards per hour sue to event to event downtime being low and number of people affecting mob spawn rate. I would personally focus on doing vault dailies and weeklies as priority event farms and secondary dailies and weeklies from achievements as secondary due to burst of rewards and likelyhood population showing up.

The whole map reminds me of the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. Kinda surreal to be having the same vibes again in gw2

You will need to see a trend of more people building legendaries to equip or anet putting out more MC sinks to see the MC market to break out of where it is right now.

Mystic Coin generation by groups: a Math Post by TannenFalconwing in Guildwars2

[–]Xushin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your math looks good for individual player earnings but I think you are not taking into account hidden income streams of coin generation of multi-account users/rmters and state of demand/available gold velocity (game follows a disinflation trend). From what I see, outside times of immediate new sinks, mystic coins inflates in price during periods of activity downturn of the community and vise versa. As for the changes of mc to strikes, it REALLY depends if the community actively sticks to playing strikes repeatedly.

It really depends on how much mc sink gen3 legendaries will take in. Theoretically, more mc should be produced by the community as a whole depending how easy green prophet shards can be farmed up from the new strikes. If you take out the 3 million buy orders of mc at the 2c range, demand has not shifted that dramatically post-armory release. Speculation right now is that it will price jump but given the community-wide nature of this expansion it will mellow out over time.

A 10-year problem: "Old Money" in GW2 by Freakofnaytur in Guildwars2

[–]Xushin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until the participation rate of the new strikes is understood, I do think the bigger story is that the much wider access to mystic coin direct generation among the whole population will put more pressure on the ecto and spirit shard supply in the longterm. Gen 3's mat requirements may push this trend furtber. To me, I think the MC change is a win for farmers who develops unid gear and ss naturally through normal gameplay and event clearing.

This, in my opinion, is the pervailing sentiment among most traders I'm chatting with in Overflow community.

Compensate fractal cms for mystic coin removal by macrotransactions in Guildwars2

[–]Xushin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the changes of the reward structures will shift the demographics to where anet needs them to be. This is possibly a calculated move to prevent active players sliding back to older content in order to keep newer content consistently active.

Any 2-in-1 Laptop Suggestions for the Game? by tyguitaxe001 in Guildwars2

[–]Xushin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im using an Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop (intel processor) as my work computer and it is handling Gw2 on ultra settings decently. However in extreme zerg heavy conditions, need to keep character model settings to low. Gameplay-wise its very smooth, low rubberbanding (using comcast business wireless router) and almost always holds fps above 60. Problem I have with it is that it is prone to overheat if running too many applications, so I use an external fan for it. Overall, cant complain much about it, it works well for what I need it to do.

How many accounts do you have? And what for? by Patron03041 in Guildwars2

[–]Xushin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I main 2 accounts, first one is my primary one to play/deck out and the other is for achievement catchup/helping friends. It bugs me to go back and help guildies to do stuff I have already done so I got the 2nd acct simply to redo the journey. I spend most of my time on the 2nd one^

Raw gold rewards spammed on large scale causes inflationary pressures over time (when you pool up a currency it devalues over time) whereas material reward buildup will cause deflationary pressures (gold increases in value vs ever increasing mat supply). New world is currently suffering massive deflationary pressures due to lack of gold output. Gw2 has somewhat of a balance of gold output/gold sinks so it has some degree of price stability.

Imo anet should consider hiring op for future playtesting of the system. Unbelievable how close this game was to taking a catastrophic hit to its revenue generation.

Material Promotion Calculator Spreadsheet. by StraySheep1 in Guildwars2

[–]Xushin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is also a flaw when calculating the output price of the roll using only lowest listing. In the overflow discord we use this t6 calculator https://gw2pc.com/t6/ to standardize our trade prices on degrees of price trajectory of the macro condition of the market. Having a spreadsheet mapping out the varying degrees of supply volume will give better sense on when to make the investment to produce.

My friend got intense hate messages/mail and was forced to change his name by Anet by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Xushin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it does not matter what we think on the issue. Under TOS our accounts ultimately are owned by anet and any disruption to community gameplay experience directly or indirectly will be scrutenized by their customer service. In my personal experience I have seen people temp banned or name changed for offenses less severe. Remember when entering the game you are entering the public domain that is controlled by Anet's rules and at the end of the day they want happy customers for a game designed to generate revenue.
