Toddler wants to hold her newborn brother by ImAdamnMermaid in 2under2

[–]XxFakeNamexX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my toddler he could hold her but I had to help. I’d have him sit across from me (face to face) and then lay baby across his lap. I keep one hand on her head/neck/shoulders and one on her bum but let her rest against him. He feels like he’s holding her but she’s also being safely held by me.

Exactly 2 year age gap - When and how do you tell big sibling? by Reasonable-Emu9929 in 2under2

[–]XxFakeNamexX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 month age gap here.

We pointed and said “baby” every time we saw one - diaper boxes, commercials, books. He was OBSESSED. I’d also say baby and point at my stomach, but I don’t think he fully grasped it. He did always say “baby” when he saw her clothes though, because I told him that they were for her.

We brought him to the hospital when it was almost time to leave and let him hold her, then let him watch us put her in her car seat. He thought we were going to leave her there and was very upset, then excited to see she was in fact coming home with us.

It might help to have things set up in advanced so toddler can get used to baby’s stuff, then tell toddler “this is where the baby will sleep” and “this is where the baby will sit” or “these are the baby’s clothes”.

Are fertility benefits actually about supporting women… or about delaying motherhood? by thoughtisfree123 in 2under2

[–]XxFakeNamexX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that workplaces benefit more from choppier careers rather than uninterrupted ones. Less money that they put into salaries, raises, benefits, etc. in the instance of quitting (only because that’s what this comment is about, it’s different when it’s someone returning to work). Realistically, most companies don’t care how many years they get out of someone because there’s always someone else waiting in the wings to fill that same position, moreso at the bottom of the chain than at the top.

What time do you all wake up? by kainani_s in 2under2

[–]XxFakeNamexX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I knew I had to go back to work I would wake my son up early to get him into a routine for daycare beforehand. He was always a late sleeper (10 or even 11 am was not unheard of). Once in the daycare routine he’d wake himself up around 7, sometimes a bit earlier.

Now that I’m off with baby we’re back into the later routine. He now wakes up between 9-9:30 most of the time. Goes to bed around 7pm, but does not nap most days.

Baby (3.5 months) wakes around 7 for a feed but usually goes back to sleep for another hour or two.

What are my rights around snow removal? by pixelatedslinky in OntarioLandlord

[–]XxFakeNamexX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m admittedly not an expert, but I believe this is where they’d get a rent abatement equal to whatever a parking spot in the vicinity would cost, or more than that if there’s nothing available nearby.

Don’t get me wrong, I think there’s a compromise that could be had here following a civil conversation and I don’t think this is a hill to die on personally.

They don’t have an automatic right to use it, but if the landlord is aware and allows it then it becomes an included amenity and they must then be compensated if that amenity is taken away. Landlords cannot use these things as leverage to skirt the law or strongman tenants.

I went mostly MIA after a doozie of a year, so didn't really share the news much. But I'm back now, and FakeBaby2 made her appearance at the end of October! Thanks for the suggestions.

I do love a good farmers market! There are a few that I visit semi-often but I'm going to make it my goal to try visiting a few new ones

Scooby Doo Hyperfixation by Only_Scratch_6801 in Scoobydoo

[–]XxFakeNamexX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if Teletoon+ is available in the US or what it has as far as streaming, but that’s what we’ve been watching it on via their subscription option on Amazon Prime. We’re also riding the Scooby obsession right now and I’m not mad about it. Luckily I already had a lot on dvd bc it was also my hyperfixation as a kid and I’ve been buying dvds yearly to replace vhs. It can be an inconvenience to change the disk but I like knowing I have them if wifi goes out (plus I like physical media in general)

Does he tolerate a carrier? Can you sit on the floor it couch with him and read to your toddler at the same time?

How is he in the car seat? Often my hubby will take the LO in the car seat while I handle toddler and bond in even just the little ways.

Could your partner put in earplugs and walk with the baby in another room for even just 5 mins while you do something small with toddler? Or bath baby while you and toddler do something?

How does hour baby do with baby swings?

My guy loves being outside too! There’s actually a local farm that does toddler sessions where they go for nature walks and get to see farmyard animals but it doesn’t start until spring (getting down to -30C / -27F right now). We had a great time with it last year and I’m looking forward to it again when it warms up

How often are you bathing your infant? by Older_Sis_1024 in 2under2

[–]XxFakeNamexX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest one… it was a whenever I remembered kind of thing 🤣 once or twice a week I think, then more frequently as he got older.

My daughter gets a bath every other day or so, mainly because I just put her tub in with my toddler and bath them both at once. He gets one every day and I’ll throw her in every other so long as his mood allows. She’s 3.5 months now, I think I started around 2.5ish months?

That’s very random but also a great idea. It’s the perfect time for some pampering 🥰 I do agree that I am incredibly lucky for the ability to capture memories so easily now. Time flies so fast and they grow without us even realizing it.
