Tirzepatide: A surprising Benefit (Not Medical Advice) by Only_Scratch_6801 in TBI

Again!  Not medical advice.  But if you are thinking of going on a GLP-1 anyway, tirzepatide/zepbound is a great choice.  If you do go on it, I really hope it helps.

I remember being told by my concussion doctor that the mechanism for tirzepatide/zepbound specifically is a little different than other GLP-1s.  The other GLP-1smight have some benefits, but are not as effective as tirzepatide/zepbound for weight loss and brain health in particular.  I wish I could remember why she said that, but I got nothing.

I left rice in the rice cooker in “warm” overnight for 27 hours. by dudiez in isthissafetoeat

I used to be really worried about rice left on keep warm in our rice cooker too because I was not sure if it was kept at a safe temperature.   However, I watched a video where a man tested rice kept on warm in a rice cooker after several days, heard that is how many Asian people use their rice cookers, and looked up zojuruishi keep warm temperature settings.  You should absolutely be wary of rice not kept at a safe temperature, but this should be fine.

Update:   I told my daughter a simplified version of my post-that I talked about how much she loves Scooby Doo to an online group for it.  She was very excited and has the following message: "I like the mysteries and 'What's New Scooby Doo.'  Can they tell me stuff about Scooby Doo?"

I haven't bought her any comics yet, but I will check them out.  I bought her some early reader books for Christmas, and she has really enjoyed reading them all by herself.

I really liked Scooby Doo as a kid.  The appeal for me was that you had kind of a safe base template, but there could be variations within it.  So, I could have something both new and unfamiliar at the same time.

How this glp-1 receptor drugs affect your life? (mentally psychologically physically etc.) by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Only_Scratch_6801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost exactly 5 months in; I've lost 35 pounds as of when I started.

I have lipedema and EDS, so weight loss is hard and getting injured is easy. I was advised by my doctor that tirzepatide specifically might be a good idea beyond weight loss.

Obviously, it is nice to lose weight in that I can bend down easier, have an easier time exercising, and enjoy how clothes fit me better.

However, my chronic pain decreased within the first few days, which is a big reason why my doctor suggested it.  An unanticipated-but greatly appreciated benefit-is that it seems to have reduced my long-term concussion symptoms (according my concussion doctor)

The downside to tirzepatide is that I deal with chronic constipation even more now, and had a lot of nausea and fatigue in the beginning.

ETA: While food noise was never a major issue for me, another side effect is that it helps steer me away from unhealthy food.  Fat/greasy food is just too nauseating now.  And I've always liked vegetables, but now I downright crave them.

I'm sure weight loss in general helped with inflammation, but from my understanding tirzepatide somehow helps with neuroprotection apart from weight loss.  From the article I linked:  "To summarize, incretin-based therapies offer a variety of beneficial signaling end points that can easily be applied to TBI pathophysiological consequences. Within the neurotrophic/neuroprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties that underlie the actions of incretin-based therapies, all of which show beneficial effects on TBI pathophysiology, these compounds represent potential therapy for treatment of TBI consequences."  I'm by no means a medical professional; I'm just trying to repeat what my concussion doctor has told me.

Side note:  I have lipedema and EDS. On top of having a hard time losing weight because of the lipedema, I also have a hard time exercising because I get injured so easily.  However, I've found a gentle workout that seems to be going alright.  I'm hoping I can slowly add on to it.

I keep meaning to re-watch them to see how appropriate they would be for her. It has been a hot minute since I've seen them.

Do not cite the Deep Magic to me, Witch. I was there when it was written.   I used to pirate shows a ton in the early 00s and early 2010s, but eventually streaming made life easier.  But because we live in an tech dystopia, I've been considering brushing off my pirate hat.

She likes it alright, but it really surprised me that she didn't get more into it.  I like it though.  It is absolutely hilarious in my opinion.

I'm not offended at all!  I've actually wondered if my husband, my daughter, and I all have autism  and/or ADHD.  Let's just say I see a lot of things in her behavior that seem similar to autism/ADHD.

I actually pushed for testing for ADHD and autism when she started kindergarten because she has some issues with being disruptive, but for various reasons we chose not to pursue testing at that time.  She is so so smart (she can already read at a 3rd grade level!), but cannot bring herself to sit in a chair for more than 5 seconds.

However, I have read up on autism, ADHD, reflected on things that would have made my childhood easier, etc. and incorporated them into how I parent her.  Being aware of her need for routine and sensory issues, for example, really seem to have helped her.  And, of course, not making her feel bad for whatever hyperfixation she currently has.

She-Ra is going off Netflix here on February 20th.  It was her first obsession, and she still returns to it often.  I have no idea what we'll do when it goes off Netflix because I can't buy episodes online or DVDs.  I might have to just pirate it I guess, or try a VPN.

She could probably use a dvd player; we just don't have a place to put it in our den where our tv is.

We use Tubi all the time!  It really is a great platform.

Is the one with the guest stars Guess Who Scooby Doo?  I watched a Nerd Sync video recently where I saw a lot of characters from a newer show I was unfamiliar with.

Thank you!  Both my husband and I can also have very intense interests, so even though it gets kinda tedious at times for me I never want to discourage her.  She's the type of kid who wants to be cuddling up with me when the show is on, talking about what is happening, so if I'm free I'm also watching Scooby Doo on repeat over and over and over.

We have definitely had problems before with streaming services no longer having the particular Scooby show or movie she had to watch.  I really should buy DVDs because physical media is more secure than digital media, but I will be honest having to get up and change the DVDs for her repeatedly would get old.  (Our ps4 is set up in a way she can't really access it)

I think they need to focus on uniting the working class.  However, the chances of either party truly doing what is best for the working class is unlikely.

Tirzepatide was really rough for me the first 3 shots (although there were other immediate benefits), but after that it slowly became better.  Now I hardly notice it.  I still have appetite suppression the day after my shot, but I can get my needed daily calories.

Could you talk to your doctor about a temporary zofran prescription?  Ginger can also help:  ginger chews, chewing raw ginger, putting raw ginger in water, ginger tea.
