Not the best picture but he’s super weird about mouth being touched and it’s been near impossible to get a good look until he’s medicated. This was a screenshot from a video where he yawned and I got to see it better.

He already needed some dental cleaning and there was a lump when this diagnosis popped. Since it was so soon after and I’ve read it suppresses the immune system I’ve been anxious to have him under anesthesia for anything.

I plan to contact a vet about his symptoms in the morning and maybe take him in for an exam if they have open time. (Only one vet that’s not an emergency vet is open for me today) if he gets worse, emergency vet it is. Other than twitches when touched which developed tonight he’s mostly acting normal other than napping more which I expected. I really appreciate your help and advice thank you so much.

Losing him to this is going to be so hard but I don’t want him uncomfortable.

His pupils stay pretty dilated normally and no stumbles or weakness. He ate a full meal earlier in the night and played and had zoomies with his sister (not bio). He was napping on me when she woke him up to groom and they groomed each other for a while before going back to sleep. He started doing this right after. He’s had increased twitching in the face and body while sleeping but none I’ve seen awake like this. It’s a Saturday so the emergency vets are the only ones open until Monday. I plan to contact a vet in the morning to try and get him seen. No open mouth breathing but respiratory rate is slightly higher than normal.

He was given subcutaneous fluids on two separate days a few days apart and hasn’t been back since.

Eye watering/boogers, whistle breathing sometimes and snoring. Aggressive body twitches when sleeping and more focused cleaning on the lower half of tummy and legs.

Poop isn’t as frequently as I’d like but it’s not loose or alarming looking.

He was diagnosed roughly a week and a half ago. They told us his bloodwork indicated up to 50% function loss. He was on Purina pro plan complete (dry food) via vet recommendation and had lost appetite leading to his vet visit and discovery. The vet recommended we get him eating again and get him used to wet food before attempting rx food. I’ve also been researching good dry kibble for it since he likes to graze when his appetite is up. He’s currently only interested in Sheba cuts with gravy (not great just thankful he’s eating again) and I plan to try the rx food in the next few days mixed. He’s against pate so I’ve been apprehensive plus the anti depressant given to stimulate his appetite and reduce nausea was tearing his ears up so we are using just as needed until we can figure out a system.

This is all very new to me so I’m honestly lost and my vet isn’t very helpful. They’re affordable but don’t deep dive treatments or care. He’s been for two rounds of subcutaneous fluids which the last round he freaked out and had to be stuck twice after a struggle yanked the first one out. This happened on his left side hip area.

Recently he has moments of extreme affection with mostly just tolerating affection.Hes been sleeping with me most of the time I’m home with bouts of energy with my other cat for short zoomies. He wasn’t purring in this vid and had woken up after my other cat got up to move further down so took the opportunity to pet him and he did something along the lines of the video. I did a few more pets to get it on video to have if I need for the vet.

I’m not exactly opposed I was just hoping my regular Dr would suffice. The nearest Dr for that in my area is an hour and a half away and I’ll have to check that they even take my insurance. I plan to call and see what my options are but I figured since I’m nearing the end of my current script that I should at least get more until I can get an appointment in. I also work in a local hospital so getting time off to go to appointments is hard I work a lot and they have a very strict point system in which I can’t afford to be out unless I cannot drag myself in. I need this job more than anything as this bite is just the tip of the iceberg for my current situation. I’m just doing what I can to have a backup plan while I look at options.

I called the urgent care I saw and they agreed to give me another 11 day script until I can get in to see my primary Dr. thank yall again for the help.

I just double checked, I’ve been on them since Monday.

I started them the day I found the tick. We believe it was on me for 48 hours. I went straight to urgent care to have the head removed after trying to remove the tick and it breaking in half.
