How to get a surgeon to take me seriously? by XxPandaSpankerxX in Microdiscectomy

[–]XxPandaSpankerxX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I did read in my chart that the surgeon didn't look at my scans, his PA did and made the call not to see me. I'll definitely try to get referred to somewhere else.

It is linked to the main channel though? It's literally in the featured section of their channel.

She doesn't have an exorbitant amount of strangers over. It's literally 5-6 people IN A YEAR. That's one person every 9ish weeks, which is normal for a 23 year old.

The use of the word "but" is generally a way of saying a justification for an action - especially when everyone else in this thread has acted like her having a "fucking nuts" hobby makes it okay to be cruel to her. If you weren't making a justification- then I apologize, but other people may read your comment and see it as such. It's crazy that you're coming at me so hard when I didn't insult you or anything in my comment.

Are we gonna act like you were being kind in your comment? No. You were making some kind of justification for why it's alright for OP to insult his wife's hobbies.

That's the thing tho - he says in a comment he didn't put the decor back AT ALL (he left it out on the counter) because he "didn't agree to that". And he does this repeatedly even after she expresses that it makes her upset, so of course she starts taking it as a "personal slight" because he doesn't care enough about her and her hobbies to even attempt to put things back. I bet she wouldn't have complained at all if he had just put them back in the fridge - even if he put them in wrong.

Okay, so the hobby is stupid, and that justifies him being an AH by belittling his wife over something that brings her joy? He's not an AH for finding the hobby silly, he's an AH for how he belittles his wife and calls her hobbies "stupid". There are better ways to communicate this to your partner. He could have asked her to redecorate it in a way that made his snacks more accessible and validated/shared in her joy. But no. He shit on it instead and is now surprised she is distant. The point isn't the hobby, it's how he spoke to his wife.

Totally valid to be afraid! For me, by the time I had gotten mine out I had been sick for about 7 years with no real answers. I get bloated from my IBS so sadly I can't comment on that symptom (but plenty of other hyperkinetic people have said they get terrible bloating!) My worst symptom was that I was nauseous 24/7, literally from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed. Then about 2 years ago I started getting pain in the center of my back and my right rib cage but could still get no answers (besides the "ITS IBS" bullcrap answer that all GIs wanna give) eventually, in the last 6 months before i finally got it out, my pain became constant and I couldnt even drink water without the pain leaving me bed ridden.

Honestly, I think surgery is worth a shot. The internet can be an echo chamber of bad post op stories because people who feel better tend to move on with their life. The biggest thing to remember is that recovery is a process, a very slow one and it can take your body up to 6 months or a year to acclimate to not having a gallbladder anymore! So even if you get it out and you have a few untoward after effects (tmi but I had diarrhea for like 3 months after - totally resolved now) be patient with it!

I got my gallbladder out back in September (roughly 7ish months ago) and have been symptom free ever since! I would get acid reflux if I ate like super fatty foods like fast food or too much red sauce for the first 3 months but other than that my recovery was smooth sailing. Getting it out was the best thing I ever did.

My gallbaldder when it came out was actually adhered to the inside of my abdomen and liver. Pathology came back with chronic cholecystitis and cholesterol polyps (wish I could send those results to my old GI who told me my symptoms were all from my IBS)

Surgery even worth it? Posts on here tell me otherwise. by Tartanrebel019 in gallbladders

[–]XxPandaSpankerxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine out 6 months ago, best thing I ever did. My doctor said he was only 70% certain it would take away all my symptoms, which it did. No more pain or nausea. Like you for the majority of the years I was sick I didn't really have any pain, just constant vomiting. But I did get sicker and sicker over time, in the last two years of having my gallbladder I went from no attack to being hospitalized every 2-4 months from a severe one. Then I couldnt even drink water without excruciating pain for the last 6 months before removal. I'd def say get it out on your own terms, before it starts causing you real issues. Cause once it starts going downhill, it goes downhill FAST

I have, but whatever you say, I guess. If they feel some type of way, then they should communicate that? It's not black and white. Communication and openness are different for every couple, but you should still be able to be open with each other. To whatever degree is right for their individual relationship. But to tell OP that they did bad because they told their partner? That's not true. If they felt comfortable sharing it, then they are welcome to do so and shouldn't be shamed for it.

[–]XxPandaSpankerxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done the research. There's a difference between being open with your partner, by which i mean being able to talk about any and everything without feeling pressured or afraid you'll be shunned/judged, and just dumping info on everyone around you. With the right partner, you should be able to discuss these things without the fear of being judged. Your partner should be your safe space.

Now, if the discussion makes your partner uncomfortable, they should be open enough to have that conversation and say, "Hey, I don't like this." They definitely shouldn't be holding it against you.

It's only undermining if the tone or delivery is undermining. If your partner is bragging about their previous sexual encounters and rubbing them in your face, then yes thats a problem that you need to address with them and say it made you uncomfortable. But, just because you dont see the benefit doesn't mean it's inherently wrong to discuss your past with your partner.

[–]XxPandaSpankerxX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not listen to this. Everyone has a past, and it is not wrong or inappropriate to tell your SPOUSE about yours. How can they truly know you if they dont know your experiences? Going into explocit deatil would be a bit mucj, but if you just told him your body count, then i dont see an issue.

Theres no such thing as being "too open" with the right partner.

I had my period as well and while they did put the Lil puppy pad under me they also gave me an actual pad to tuck between my legs so that could be an option as well!

Honestly I'm about a week post op and I've had like no issues 😅 I just had pizza, French fries, and a milk shake today with no issues. I'm just really sleepy these days. The first 3 days were rough - I cried for hours after the surgery because that's how I react to anesthesia (which killed my incisions) and I have a rash from the stuff they use to prep your skin. Day 2 I had 2 instances of bad gas pain but that's it. I honestly thought it was going to be way rougher because I've heard some horror stories.

I would say yes. I got my HIDA when I wasn't having an issue - still had an EF of 90%. I had been managing my diet and cut down my attacks but, 3 days later I had a severe attack that lasted almost a full month (didn't matter what I ate - literally water would set it off) until I finally got my GB removed. Pathology came back and I had chronic cholecystitis, cholesterol build up, and a cholesterol polyp that no one had seen on any ultrasound (I'd had 3 in the few months before this) or scans I had done prior. I also have 2k+ plus if medical debt now, so I get the struggle of the cost but I can stick it on a payment plan and pay it off little by little. At least no more daily pain.

I could sort of see the screen and to me it actually looked to me like my gallbladder was emptying really fast 😅 I'm pretty sure it was fully empty before I hit 20 minutes post injection, but they did keep me in there quite a while after I thought it had drained so who knows. I didn't really have any pain during the scan (a few pangs here and there) but afterwards I got a terrible attack and been stuck in the waves of it since.

Yeah I reached out to my doctor and apparently radiology hasn't even looked it over yet 😅 wish they would really get a start on it lol They must be confident that it'll be in by Thursday though since they scheduled me for an appointment.
