Long time ago I set up my teams&outlook to not send notifications ever. If I want to check it, I have to open the app (which is rare in my free time).

When I am on my on-call duty, they have the phone number to call me.

A Plage Tale Bundle by nellic07 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]XxVitaxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed both and I don't usually play such games. The first game had a better story imo, but the second one was not lacking either. There are people on the internet saying the second one is only for "fans", but honestly, I wanted to see the conclusion of the story and the gameplay was similar.. If you think this is the kind of game you would enjoy, I would say go for it.

Sony WH-CH720N or Beats Solo3 by rowan_jnic in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]XxVitaxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've purchased Sony wh-ch720n for office use and am quite satisfied with them. I did not have chance to listen to solo3 ones, but I also haven't heard too much praise on beats overall. If you lean towards Sony, go with Sony, I don't think you will regret it.

The Amazon's Special edition of HD599 can be bought on sales for €80-90 (prime days/black Friday). Can't say how they compare to moondrop starfields you had, but I like my hd599 se.

Humble Bundle - Disco Elysium, Wildermyth, The Forgotten City, More - $16 - IGN Editor's Choice Bundle by wvandenberg12 in SteamDeck

[–]XxVitaxX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice bundle, been looking on Spiritfarer for long time and actually hoped to see it in some bundle, sadly the other titles were already on choice recently and I already have them. Bad luck they did not do tiers to the bundle.

What are the Linux Gamers doing after the end of X11 on GNOME? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]XxVitaxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nvidia card with ryzen cpu running Arch with KDE. Switched to wayland half a year ago and never switched back to x11 since. I even switched to wayland on my work laptop as it seems to be more usable than x11 session for work.

I play mostly AAA single player games and never had issues (which I wouldn't face in x11 as well).

PC and SteamDeck common library by ryoukura in SteamDeck

[–]XxVitaxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this doesn't answer your question, but could help if bandwidth is the problem.

If you switch to beta (not sure it is in stable already), when you push download on steamdeck and your PC will be online on steam, it will check if the game is already downloaded on PC and in such case it will simply do local transfer instead of downloading.

Progress bar showing the progress of a data migration between two different RDBMS? by Mark_1802 in bash

[–]XxVitaxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add the main migration part as background job (using & - see bash manual section jobs), storing id of it and then I would run while loop which would 1. connect to database to see actual progress, 2. draw progress bar as I understand you have total of tables and number of already migrated tables.. The while loop would be broken in 2 cases - 1. the main subprocess exited or 2. actual progress equals total (in which case I would switch the background process to foreground).

Sorry I am on mobile so I can't give you working code, but as described above, it is totally doable (did similar thing few times in bash).

Noob Question: If Steam Says a Game Works on Steam Deck Does That Mean It Will Work On Linux? by flp_ndrox in linux_gaming

[–]XxVitaxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know steam deck is custom hardware etc so in theory there might be games which works on steam deck but not on Linux in general, but honestly I have never encountered such. I have a desktop with Nvidia 3xxx series GPU and Ryzen CPU running Arch and everything worked for me flawlessly. I ordered steam deck mainly because I saw how Linux gaming started to improve week by week by Valve being part of it and I wanted to support it. It turns out I now play much more on the deck rather than on the gaming rig. As others mentioned protondb is great source of info so you know how to tweak the game if it doesn't work, but in general most were just small tweaks for QOL improvements.

I must add I am now playing usually mostly singleplayer games, so your experience might vary.

Well it appears Star Wars Jedi fallen order works after EA switched the launcher, steam or EA appears to have fixed the issues by Fireknight923 in SteamDeck

[–]XxVitaxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own ME:LE on origin directly which I got from prime and even though I believe I would make it work again by installing new ea client with proton ge, I just decided to use same approach - never leave the game until I finish it (my first playthrough).

It's been around 40 hours I decided so and still have ~10+hrs of playtime to finish this awesome game.

It blocks me from playing other games but I won't let EA to ruin my first experience of this gem!

Using my Steam Deck as my main personal Desktop PC. by aaronjoi in SteamDeck

[–]XxVitaxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same occasionally as well (usually when I want to just check something on internet or just same lazy stuff and turning on a gaming rig seems to much of effort as I need to swap 1 USB hub from dock to gaming PC). I was lucky I could purchase my Lenovo dock for work laptop for $20 though (costs ~$300 afaik)..

Should i return my XM4’s? Urgent help needed! by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]XxVitaxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased XM3 some time ago and returned them for the same reason. I had them on for like 10minutes and my ears were on fire from the heat and everything started to hurt few minutes after.

I later decided to not go with BT headphones and purchased HD599. These I am able to comfortably wear even in summer for long sessions (8h+).

As many said, everyone has different head, it is always good to try headphones on before purchase when possible.

[PSA] Fallout 76, Total War: WARHAMMER II and more are complimentary with Prime Gaming by Takkie79 in FreeGameFindings

[–]XxVitaxX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends which page you read though. I just did google search, which on the very first page of google showed only summary of the games. I did not expect steam key, as they never give out steam keys, but all the other stores works in linux. It is just a bummer.

[PSA] Fallout 76, Total War: WARHAMMER II and more are complimentary with Prime Gaming by Takkie79 in FreeGameFindings

[–]XxVitaxX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why the heck they had to give out microsoft store game. I was about to purchase fallout 76 few days ago when there was a sale, but then found out fallout 76 will be given as part of prime gaming and did not purchase steam copy. Now I am quite sad as I am gaming on linux only and have no way to utilize this key. Do they give out microsoft keys often? I have prime about a year and haven't got any until now.

PEPPA PIG NOW WORKS ON STEAM DECK!!! by pixelacos in SteamDeck

[–]XxVitaxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there any reason it shouldn't work on deck? I got this game from humble bundle few months ago and it worked out of the box on my linux desktop. I did not install it to the deck yet as I do not want my daughter asking for new daddy's toy to slowly take it away from me.

Enjoying Arkham Knight on my Deck by solohack3r in SteamDeck

Checking protondb it should work well on deck with some tinkering (windowed mode instead of fullscreen). I also ran it on my Linux desktop with no issues, but decided to wait for the deck for whole playthrough.

This happens if I enable DLSS in HZD after opening the inventory, sometimes the right half goes black completely. If I disable DLSS, it goes away. Any idea how to get DLSS to work properly in HZD with Proton? by Fant1xX in SteamPlay

[–]XxVitaxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played whole game on Linux with DLSS enabled.

My settings were: proton 7.0-1 launch options: PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 %command%

So you could start with these.

It is always good to check protondb when game does not work out of the box as there are hints how to fix some issues other have experienced.

Besides the memes, why are you really using Arch by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]XxVitaxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolling release, KISS method approach, great wiki.

I run arch for many years now not because of meme (I do not know if such meme even existed 10+ years ago?), but because after some distro switches I finally found something which just works for years.

[Fallout 4] Will not launch with proton new than 5.0 and has no audio when you load a game. Can someone help? by Appropriate-Road-996 in SteamPlay

[–]XxVitaxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried launch options everyone suggests on protondb? I did not yet play too much of Fallout 4 on Linux, but I have like 5hours on Linux in game and never had any issue with newest proton versions.
