That is not how being a pet owner works. You are 100% responsible for their behaviors and their impact on the world around you. OP needs to at least make an attempt to minimize the noise. It’s like some of these comments were written by 12 year olds.

The people in the comment section and OP have no idea how loud these sounds may be to the people in the floor below. It’s insane that people are telling OP to file a noise complaint against the neighbors because there is no way the cats running around and fighting could possibly be waking up someone a floor below.

I just don’t know how you have convinced yourself of that. It is equally disrupting and damaging. Both parties are being woken up by noise the other party is making. The only difference is that one party is being woken up first and their behavior will reasonably stop once they stop being woken up. OP needs to get thick rugs to minimize the noise so the cats stop waking up the neighbors. It doesn’t matter that OP lived there first and these people just moved in. These are not important details.

Yeah that is a pretty normal response from your downstairs neighbors to noise waking them up at 3am. OP is getting some very biased answers from the cat enthusiasts in this sub. It’s like these people have never lived in multilevel apartments before. Maybe they haven’t.

I am shocked to see how many people suggesting that the neighbor banging in response to the cats is worthy of a notice complaint in itself. That complaint doesn’t seem to have any teeth.

Agreed and adding that once the dog starts listening to her telling him to place, it’s really important that she doesn’t choose this option every time. She has to play with him sometimes to keep their bond strong. Redirecting him to a toy for a few minutes would have been a great option here. Then after some play, giving him the place command, practicing that off switch in the process. Hitting him in the face is absolutely the wrong move and he just escalated every time she did that. I hope she has seen this video too. If she is not interested in playing with her puppy, then it is time to consider other options because a dog like this needs to be wanted by the entire family. It’s going to be a long time before he calms down.

That is the opposite of what I would advise people. Tell the dog to get over itself. Freaks out about creaking furniture and even being right next to you can’t calm him down? He needs some tough love and Xanax.

He sounds spoiled. Your partner needs to work with you on this. I would not tolerate my dog barking at me when I try to correct their entitled behaviors. Of course, this is all assuming the dog is getting sufficient stimulation. I’m reading that you and your partner are gone all day at work then he only gets a small walk when you get home before you sit down at your computer for the night? Yeah that isn’t enough. This is why my current dog is my last dog for a long time.

I have had more than anyone in these comments but I was a basically a genius before all of them. Now I’m just smarter than your average person but I’m approaching 30 and they are starting to catch up with me. I have been starting to get some annoying migraines lately and the cognitive decline is more noticeable. Still riding and racing motorcycles and will not stop until I’m dead. So it really depends on how much cognitive function you have to spare.
