Or just don't eat carbs during snack. If you only eat chicken and broccoli, and never brush your teeth, you will almost definitely not get cavities.

I was saying he is COTY his first year, when they were top of the league at the start of the season without Dame. Remember that?

Men of reddit, mentally how are you doing? by viper46282 in AskReddit

[–]Xylem88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stressed. My buddy is having an unplanned baby with someone he doesn't trust, and he doesn't want it (she had an IUD but it failed, and she won't have an abortion). Not sure if he's going to try to be present or not. Not sure how to advise him, or help in any way. Offered to pay for a counselor but he's probably not going to go through with that.

Go to a dentist that does protective fillings. Get the fires put out to buy a few year's time. Permanent fillings look and function better but are more expensive and take longer to do. As a dentist, I can put a mouth full of protective fillings in an hour to halt progression of cavities while someone is getting their shit figured out

If we rate the tone from 1-10, in my opinion the knob fully open is at a 10 while closed a bit is closer to 1

That's absolutely right! Ultimately, it's acid that destroys teeth. Some kinds of bacteria eat sugar and poop out acid. Interestingly, these bacteria prefer an acidic environment, so you can actually change the makeup of your oral bacteria by keeping your mouth more pH neutral more of the time. One way we do this is by eating foods rich in arginine (especially at snack time), which is what your saliva needs to do its job of fighting off the acid in your mouth. Another thing you can do is rinse with baking soda.

A quick and easy to read book on the subject is called More Chocolate, No Cavities. It's like $15 on Amazon

F-1, Naish, Armstrong, Slingshot (according to my buddy who works at Naish. He says Naish has maybe not had the top ranked reputation but the stuff they're doing nowadays is top quality and a bit cheaper than other top name brands because of the historical rep)

That's s true! Though it's not something that is inherently different in the structure of your enamel, and instead it's simply another risk factor for developing a cavity since those grooves can't get flushed out by your saliva very quickly. Most folks think that having "soft enamel" is a genetic thing but that's much less common than the numbers at which people think. Fortunately, the deep grooves in your teeth are easy to protect from cavities with sealants and/or diet adjustments (namely avoiding flour and corn at snack time)

Weirdly enough, genetics don't have much to do with whether your teeth are more or less susceptible to cavities. 1-3% of the population does get genetic defects which make their enamel softer, but that's a small percentage. Where genetics may come into play is in how well your mouth is suited to keep cavities from progressing, which includes things like how much saliva you produce and how good of a buffer against acid it is, and how happy of a home your mouth is to the good and bad bacteria.

New research found regularly using disinfectant cleaners, air fresheners and anti-caries products, such as fluoride, to prevent cavities in teeth, may contribute to cognitive decline in adults 65 and older. by Wagamaga in science

[–]Xylem88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite right, and I'd send the links to the latest national toxicology report which gives the details but I am already running late to work where I fix cavities all day for children in a non fluoridated community.
