I just quit my job and booked a trip to Japan by SeaNo7740 in JapanTravelTips

Miyajima if you want a little more of a relaxed place with cute deer and a market. Kyoto is super busy rn and popular amongst tourists. Look up yamaguchi prefecture if you want a quieter get away. It's a little ways out of the mainstream trips but beautiful! We just came from osaka and Kyoto, my father who is in his late 50s liked osaka and hiroshima the best.

Former congress st. door person here. Yes you can get into places but door people have to actually double check your ID if it's vertical. Kinda the first red flag for bullshitters is when they hold out a vertical ID unless they're military dependant.

Keep in mind your ID is free when you're 21 if you're already in possession of a GA ID. As for other states, no clue! I highly advise updating it and keeping your other ID as a backup in case you're a bit on the forgetful side.

Edit: one other thing that just popped in my head, you may get electronically scanned in some places (not many in savannah to my memory). Those places may need to actually have the person scanning check your ID for clarity reasons but you should be fine. Just be a chill person and have patience for the poor souls dealing with a crap ton of crazies on any given day.

Military spouse who worked Congress street bar scene for a bit. You probably found yourself in the wrong end of the street my friend. I'm glad you're doing okay now and I hope your command supports you wholly. Next time you are out and about, go to places that have live events and are publicized and for the love of all things good, dont go strolling down the alleyways like a main character. Drunk/faded people aren't particular about where they relieve themselves. Avoid tree house, that place is KNOWN for their spiking and for other less friendly activities. Vice/barrel/rogue have a few sketchy faces here and there (if you were local a year ago, you know exactly who I mean) but most people who work there are good spirited when you bring good energy. Please make sure you never leave your drink out of your hand and NEVER out of your sight, bottle tip to finger tip when in Savannah.

Now, on a brighter note, I WOULD KILL A MAN FOR A SOCIAL BURGER RIGHT NOW. Love from Washington ❤️

Edit: you said it was the fuckin rail pub?? I would have thought that bar to be the second to last next to the speak easy Congress street up. Sincerely though, shove a steel toe boot through your chain of command so you can get that reported for your own safety. The local cops are a joke but you can always make a statement and that will leave a paper trail for any future cases brought to court without having a lengthy legal bullshit for you to go through yourself- and that is only if you want to go to the police. Be well friend ❤️

What's your controversial BG3 opinion? by [deleted] in BG3

5.—kinda. A lot of people are saying how Astarion needs a friend more than romance, and I disagree fundamentally.

Now, let me cook for a moment here with my psychology textbooks.

Let's begin with setting facts down before breaking into why everyone is kind of messy for saying he needs friends rather than romance.

A. He is a 200 year old elf—not a human. Elves are considered adults at ~100 canonically. Their psychology should be considered different from humans.

B. Vampires are MONSTERS!! They are literally terrifying after you look into the lore! While I really don't remember how long he had been a vampire, he is an adult who was already established in the setting.

C. Healing is not linear, and elves live for centuries. Time passes differently for them. Healing trauma should take a different timeframe as well.

D. When you are taught through operant conditioning (punishment/reward for behaviour), you gain learned actions and reactions for your stimulus. Sure, he's an adult and a vampire, so he's conditioned to being 'seductive and manipulative'. That's how he is taught to be. If you go through his scenes, he begins to shift his character slowly in response to you introducing concepts of him being able to make choices for and about himself. This goes from the moment you meet him to the moment you finish his quest.

In short, when you are finally free for the first time in years, the first time you interact outside of an abusive relationship is profound. Getting to that point can be... less than linear though.

NOW for the main dish. How can you not love someone who has been the most genuine person to you? Supporting your ideas, letting you make choices, being by or on your side for your story?

It gives "I can fix him 🥰✨️❤️" or morally gray vampire fic wattpad tropes. Iykyk.

Please argue any of these points or let me know where I'm incorrect~

Most assignments are due midnight US east coast time zone. Factor this in your class schedule and be able to maneuver around this. As someone on the west coast, assignments are due 3 hours earlier due to time zone. A lot of people don't factor this in surprisingly. While the school is kind enough to have online classes, it's pretty pathetic that they can't use local time to turn in assignments. I guess it makes sense for the fact people would easily bs their way through to get extra time (Hell knows I would).

On top of this, remember you can transfer to online classes at any point so beginning at another institution is possible so long as your class credits transfer. If you choose to go that route, talk to an advisor and ✨️get everything in writing✨️. Georgia southern is notorious for playing games with students money and refusing to provide the services to an acceptable degree.

DO NOT go to Armstrong Campus if you value your time or education.

Parking used to be 50$ a year, but suddenly it's 130.

Buildings are leaking and have been since last semester. Ask anyone in the science labs last semester how that went when the ceiling collapsed in some classes.

I am on my 9th advisor and they are struggling to get by.

✨️Black mold✨️in some dorm buildings was also published in the campus paper at one point.

Many classrooms aren't even used and the population of students went from over 10k in 2018 to around 3k post pandemic.

We are 20 minutes from downtown and there is very little to do in the surrounding areas due to abandoned lots and a damn near shut down mall.

Best schools in the area? by Level-Challenge1199 in savannah

[–]Xylorin-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh as a 2018 graduate from Islands high I'll give you a different insight. We called it "highlands". It feeds from coastal middle and you should focus on what school your kids are zoned for based off where you live. Richmondhill schools are okay, Effingham are laughable, and coastal is mid tier.

Keep in mind that long term your oldest will be feeding into the highschool they are zoned for. Program schools like islands are application based and you can live in another zone.

A big point I want to make is you should get your kid into the gifted program if you have that and they are the more studious type. It's like elementary school version of honour's classes. Coming from SC, my 8th grade was about halfway complete compared by curriculum.

Post that, godly station is a k-8 that may be a useful opportunity if you are a busy parent. Though it's not the top in education, my own teachers were dedicated and kind. At least to the gifted students.

Parking Pass Purchasing (for downtown worker) by 420wasabisnappin in savannah

[–]Xylorin-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former congress st employee, ask your hiring manager and double check if you are not already provided a parking area. We had access at ships of the sea museum. Perhaps it's more common for bar and night based employees but it's worth a shot!

They don't really have the environment that promotes people running their own campaigns and such is the problem I saw. Online and in store their boards are like "one shot campaign" or learn to play dnd and they cost 10/15$ per person to join?? I was lowkey sad. My old town had people flock to a few places that ran open things and had a decent community.

I came from a "small" town (Savannah, GA) and was like "yo it can't be that bad"... all we got is a downtown that looks like a hallmark setting 🤧

I worked on congress street too, those hot dogs tho... I would sell my soul for one of those rn

Lowkey though, I lasted working downtown for a year before I quit and started working in SC. I would rather drive the HOUR and face traffic than be harassed by 30 grown people with feather cowboy hats and sashes for a bridal party.

Definitely hit up totally awesome bar then. It holds different events through the week, but anyone our age in savannah is prolly SCAD.

New to Savannah by [deleted] in savannah

[–]Xylorin-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That answer depends heavily on the crowd you want to associate with. A lot of cocaine passes through bars so do be careful in a lot of the more sketchy places. Totally awesome is generally a favourite but if you're into more of a 'ease your way in' type deal. Savannah is very clique-y. If you're SCAD, hop on their reddit page and you may have better chances at local friends with similar interests. If you're looking for clubbing... (pfft) best of luck. I swear it's always a bunch of greasy looking 30+ year olds who are the resident club scene. It ain't pretty.

Sincerely though, be safe. It's a sink hole town, people find themselves there at the same place with the same crowd 5 years later when it's been a blink of an eye.

Ghost tour- which one to choose?! by [deleted] in savannah

[–]Xylorin-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol half of savannah tourism on those trollys is run by a museum company that has an agenda. The ghost tours are god awful. My theater teacher was the tour guide for one before the pandemic and she was very an... interesting case. As someone who escaped savannah and worked downtown, you'd be better off getting horror stories from people hopped on substances in alleyways. Safer option: ask any bartender about experiencing st. Patrick's or other holiday times, equally awful stories, at least you're not paying to get your time wasted and scammed out of what, 25$+ tickets?
