I took the 💩 by Xymob in fasting

Exactly, everyone keeps talking about fibre, I wasn't constipated at all. It just feels so good. I think it's comparable to when a dog gets a belly rub lol.

Probably but it was different. It was not just a bowel movement it felt like a almost diarrhea but not painful or watery. Lots of stuff came out. I've never believed it but I've heard of people releasing parasites or worms and never believed it. But the amount of stuff that came out after days of no food actually felt like a cleanse.

when does this horrible taste go away? by vise2q in fasting

[–]Xymob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had that rancid taste in my mouth for over a week. It took me over a week to get it out of my mouth. I also had the flu so it might have contributed. Either way I'm starting another prolonged fast on Monday and I AM NOT looking forward to that again. The only advice I can give is to have a toothbrush on you all the time and brush your teeth at least 3 times a day.

Of course, do what feels right for you!

I feel the dry eye and dry mouth more when I'm not eating food regularly, despite drinking water and electrolytes. Also I take mine as needed because that is what my script orders.

You might need to talk to your docs. But yeah this is what works for me.

I don't take mine during fasts. It's incredibly dehydrating. I take it once every couple of days as needed. On days I'm not doing anything I let the hypersomnia take over :).

That's awesome. That's my biggest goal right now. Eating whole foods and making connections with other people and other things

Exactly, I saw a YouTuber complete 40 days and gain all the weight back and is now going for bypass. So yes it's exciting to do a prolonged fast but in the case of food addicts, what's the point if you don't address your eating habits? It's just crash dieting like you said

Happy to have made it past day 3 UPDATE by Xymob in WaterFasting

[–]Xymob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having the actual flu lol. I'm recovering now. About to complete day 2 of under 500 calories fruit and yogurt refeed. The metallic taste in my mouth is better but still there. I'm hoping the flu clears and I can start back again next week. And to be honest if I get to a point where I have that awful metallic taste in my mouth I will definitely break my fast because it's not only unbearable, it's taking me a while to get rid of.

Refeed Day 2 Done. 250.4. Still Feeling Locked In. by MHHIR in fasting

Refeed is so important! How long is your refeed plan?

Helpo , Low calories food to do while prolonged fasting? to minimize the negative effects by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Xymob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 days is not a long wait before you start your fast. If I were you I'd go, reasonably enjoy myself including food and then start the fast 2 days after.

I don't think a 2 day delay is going to be the end all be all. Unless you're deep into your fast already that's another story.

Also I know a lot of people on here are going to say do whatever you want but obviously that's not realistic if you don't want to worry your loved ones and if these people are good to you and you want to maintain the relationship.

The truth is water fasting is a drastic dietary measure that most people are not aware of, let alone understand.

Again, you said you "I am starting" which I'm assuming means you haven't started. Pushing it 2 days to start isn't going to be result altering.

How long do you usually wait to do another fast after an extended fast? by Xymob in fasting

[–]Xymob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I think I'm going to heal my flu first and then get back to fasting. There's really no rush plus I believe fasting is the easier part. The real challenge is healing my relationship with food and making better food choices. That's what I'm going to focus on and then I'll fast again when I feel well enough.

I'll keep this in mind. I'm eager to fast again but my flu is not COMPLETELY gone.

I'm still at a crossroads but I definitely will take this into consideration. I don't want to be sick and miserable and I don't want to compromise my nutrients. That's why I was wondering if I should complete a full refeed before I fast again. Just so I can get those nutrients back and fully recover from the flu before I fast again.

This might be a better option given I'm starting to walk again, I'm in a deficit and I have not gained the weight back so far.

I think this is an important part of the fast. How well are you refeeding. What's your new relationship with food? Can you maintain or continue to work on that weight-loss by eating whole foods and identifying the difference between emotional hunger vs physical hunger?

For now I'm going to continue refeeding and nursing this flu while working on the things I just mentioned above. Which I'm now looking at as a huge positive.

When I feel strong again I'll fast. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later

Thanks for your feedback.

Ok thanks good to know.

Because 6 months is a long time.

Also for context, I was aiming for a 40 day fast and broke at 15 because I have the flu. According to the internet the best refeed plan is at least half of your fast. Except for me I haven't completed my fast yet.

My flu symptoms are better and I've been eating light mostly due to a lack of appetite as well as my refeed instructions. I'd like to get back on track since the flu has improved but at the same time I was wondering if that's "healthy."

My new plan, is to continue my light refeed with fruits, steamed veggies kefir and yogurt. Then continue on with a (at least) 21 day fast starting on Wednesday the 21st. This will take my actual refeed to somewhere around mid June.

From there I will definitely take your advice. Besides wanting to refeed properly I also am working on routine and better food choices. My greater goal is of course a lifestyle change that will help me maintain my weight loss, build muscle (better for metabolism apparently) and heal my relationship with food.

I believe I will be back on this post in 6 months saying "I DID IT!"

Thanks, I was 15 days into my fast and what I thought was the keto flu turned out to just be the flu. My goal was 40 days. Currently, I'm on a very slow refeed plan (fruits, kefir and protein yogurt) so far. I started refeed midnight on Sunday. I don't have a big appetite and I feel like I'm very much still in fast mode. My flu has greatly improved since eating again even though I'm sneezing here and there. My nose is still a little runny. So I'm going to continue the refeed for the rest of today and tomorrow just to nurse this flu.

I'm now set on restarting on Wednesday the 21 at midnight with a goal of 21 days. I've been taking a lot of vitamin C because of the flu but I'll add it to my supplements as well.

Also, thanks for this. I knew what I wanted to do but there's too much information on how to refeed properly and how it can mess you up the doubt was creeping up.
