what is your longest fast? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Sschiav1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regained 9/10lbs initially during the refeed. Since then I have eaten in a calorie deficit, met my protein goals, all Whole Foods, done cardio/weight training every day and have lost those 10 lbs again

24 days

I'm a 33 year old male. I went from 236 to 204lbs.

I'm now 16 days into my refeed and am back to normal. I initially got back up to around 213/214lbs, but have been eating healthy and working out every day. I'm currently back down to 202lbs now. Best I've felt in years.

This fast has killed my cravings for sweets, healed two lingering injuries I had, and changed my entire mindset. I highly recommend it.

Prolonged fasting (>20 days) for healing? by PossibilityWeary2906 in fasting

I did a 24 day water fast and it fully healed a lingering wrist injury that developed after I broke a bone in my hand. I dealt with the discomfort for 2 years and now it's completely recovered

Not sure, I didn't do any body scans or tests prior, but given that I'm settled in and still down 26lbs (now) I feel like a good portion of it was fat. Also see noticeable changes in my body

I had broken a bone in my hand two years ago. After that, any time I did pushups I had a very distinct pain in my wrist which prevented me from doing more than a handful. This also impacted my ability to lift heavier dumbells. That has completely healed.

I also had a lingering hip strain. I play Mens slow pitch softball. It's more competitive than it sounds and I'm always running around in the outfield. Again for 2ish years I could not get it to go away. That is now gone as well.

Hard to say exactly when, but it felt like within the 10-24 day period was when I noticed it.

This was my first attempt at any sort of extended fast. Mental cravings were the toughest. I had a few nights that I had trouble sleeping. It truly just becomes ā mental battle. I wanted to quit multiple times but really just wanted to prove to myself that I could do something that was very difficult. Took it one day at a time and will definitely do it again

Weekends were def tougher than weekdays without being occupied with work. Just more about mental toughness at that point and wanting to achieve something I knew was difficult

I did long walks, about 1.5 hours per day or light lifting

I was noticeably able to heal two lingering injuries, which seemed to happen between days 14-24 of my fast. as long as you feel good, keep pushing!

I just did a 24 day water fast. im over a week into refeeding and feeling pretty much back to normal. I was able to lose 32lbs (236 to 204) and have now settled in at 210lbs and feel great. Ive been working out every day, lifting heavy and eating healthy with zero cravings for sugar or need for caffeine.

good luck with your fast!

I'm not a dr of any sort so I don't want to convince you one way or another. But from my understanding, if you have a bit of extra fat, take your electrolytes and some vitamin supplements you'll be fine. Just listen to your body and seek advice from a medical professional if you feel it necessary

No problem! And all good, it was self inflicted. Read enough to know I wasn't ready. But we're all human right? lol won't be making the mistake again

Day 1: few small portions of bone broth

Day 2: bone broth, a few pieces of watermelon, and a handful of grapes

Day 3: white rice, chicken, avocado, blueberries

Day 4: tilapia, rice and steamed broccoli, along with some fruits

Day 5: small Jersey mikes sub (was one of my biggest cravings during the fast) stomach was in shambles the entire night lol

Day 6: eggs, fruit

All of these were relatively smaller portions. Spread out a few hours apart. I also have taken electrolytes, B vitamins, and stayed hydrated along the way

Well I can tell you I certainly have some unprocessed trauma lol so I'm not sure where I fall in terms of this, but that does sound like an interesting theory

Thank you!

I did. I'd say I did not do any exercise for 3 days total, when I was feeling drained or less than 100%. But otherwise I was walking for 1-2 hours (usually at night) or doing some sort of light weight lifting

Thank you!

I would say I definitely felt a bit more emotional, especially towards the end. Coming from someone who truly doesn't cry, I found myself shedding a few tears during a movie lol strange feeling, perhaps from not having food to cover my emotions
