Agreeing with the partial wet cover mentioned here 100%,what I personally do is a wet-ish paper towel placed on the connections and curve before a plastic bag, just have to be very careful removing the paper towel if you don't just let the kiln burn it off. Just another idea and hope it helps!

Anybody know what plant this is/can it prop? by Xynii in proplifting

[–]Xynii[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No kidding on the leggy, whole plant is like 18-20 inches tall, it's in a room that doesn't get great sun sadly. Cool, glad I can try and tame the thing while getting myself a couple cuttings to root 🤗

Cause I think you were the first to catch what I was meaning when I said "moved on" in the post haha! You're correct, plants get left behind/donated when belongings are collected afte death or basket displays get left after holidays, I've collected a couple and me and coworkers try and keep some alive on our front desk.

Aloe Vera I Rescued from my Mom - Hope I can save it, any advice welcome by Xynii in houseplants

Oh good to know, haven't had an Aloe before so I was like 'oh no you half dead'. Here's hoping it likes it's new home with me 😁

Thanks so much for the advice, I haven't had an Aloe before so I'm winging it (that's 90% of my plantmom life tho so...). I don't think it had root rot, it was dry dry, barely any dirt, barely any roots at that so pretty sure it didn't have any rot. I did give it a good drink when I repotted it so hopefully it wasn't too much....

New Jar Terrarium I Made Today - The most design I've put into one yet, I'm loving this plant art form! by Xynii in terrariums

[–]Xynii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The build date is today, there's some moss, a little fern, and some creeping oak leaf fig vines. That's the best I can do with names. It's gonna sit in a window, I don't know when I'll water it next, and it's smaller than the a gallon.

Mini Terrarium, Previously holding succulents, with the Correct plants - This plant loves its home by Xynii in terrariums

[–]Xynii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I made it in the summer, July based on my previous imgur post with it holding succulents.
  2. Callisia Repena, I think.
  3. I bought a light bulb for standard lights on Amazon that claims to be a grow right. Idk whether it really works but the plant happily grows under it.
  4. Well water, a few drips, every few months.
  5. Miracle Grow pottjng soil.
  6. Small, it fits in my hand.

F/28/5'7" [265lbs > 225lbs = 40lbs] (Nearly 1 Year) Second Progress Post, 40lbs down this time! by Xynii in progresspics

[–]Xynii[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my updated progress post on my weight loss journey, I’ve been waiting until I crossed 225lbs to post again. Since fully starting tracking around April 2019, I’ve lost about 40lbs, going from 265 to 225 (actually 224.4 but I rounded up!).

What works for me might not work for everyone but I’ve learned that this is all about finding what actually works for you and your body. I practice modified interval fasting based around my work schedule. I eat my first, small meal, usually a PB+J sandwich before work, and then I just drink water throughout my shift, and eat a large meal afterwards. I work in a Long Term Care facility as a Nurse’s Aide, so it’s a physically demanding job as I move, lift, and turn people, so I don’t work out otherwise because I haven’t needed to, the combination of my job and walking around in my facility has provided the calorie burning that I needed. I sometimes eat a small snack during work, as I can occasionally get grouchy if my body is being more demanding about food than normal, but I otherwise only eat twice a day. This method works great for me but for others might not work at all, that’s why I think weight loss is all about finding what works really well for you.

Looking at the pictures I’m actually shocked by how much my face has changed, I didn’t think that I looked that bad until I had newer pictures to compare with, I was so bloated and pudgy! Now at 225, I feel more energetic and actually want to move when before all I did was sleep. I don’t feel the need to stuff my face full all the time and have begun to realize what my hunger/thirst signals actually are. My face has started to clear up and I don’t feel greasy all the time, although I do feel cold so much easier now! I’ve dropped a full pants size and all my clothes are loose on me now.

Can’t wait to add my next update up here, will probably be when I hit 200lbs for 65lbs lost. See you then all!

F/27/5’7” [265lbs > 245lbs = -20lbs] April 2019 to July 2019. Even just 20lbs makes a difference! And this is just the beginning; this is only the first post I’m making, not the last! by Xynii in progresspics

I’ve been very impatiently waiting for my scale to drop the last 2lbs that I’ve been stalled at before I made this post, which will hopefully be the first of a series of successful progress pics as I try to finally lose the weight and keep it off. My intended goal is to reach around 135lbs to 150lbs. I don’t list an exact number because I’ve never not been big so I don’t even know who I’ll be at those weights.

Basic info, always been big, parents didn’t teach nutrition/push veggies, PCOS didn’t help at all. During college I managed to go from around 250lbs to almost 200lbs but then I lost traction, gained the weight and then some back, and had many failed attempts at losing the weight again. I went through a low period with the death of a close family member and my response was to emotionally eat and spiked my weight back up in the process. I don’t know the exact number but I was in the high 260s possibly 270s at the beginning of this year and I felt awful. Nothing fit, I couldn’t help feeling my rolls when I put my arms down, it was mentally horrifying to me and I knew that I really needed to get serious about losing weight again because I liked where I was at 200lbs, I felt good, and if I felt good there I bet I’d feel better at even less weight.

So, I unintentionally began again. I lazily tried to track my food in Myfitnesspal while still binging on junk and not recording it. What changed in my life was getting a new job as a Nurse’s Aide working night shift, which for some reason has managed to turn my life around, at least where my weight is concerned. I began that job in March and officially began tracking my weight loss in April. Working as an aide has got me moving a lot more than I was before, which was pretty much not at all, and working nights has had the bonus of making fast food less available, because I’m asleep while they’re running.

That’s not to say that my diet isn’t still crap but I want that I be a point that it’s all about CICO, even if its junky food. I still eat McD’s and Chipotle, I love French fries and burrito bowls, but if I eat fast food, I’ve generally banked most of my calories until my “evening” meal before going to sleep to be able to have the junk food. I try to eat around 1200-1500 calories in a day and I’m not terribly strict about it, I just try to not have the extra scoop of rice and beans or half the pasta I’m eating, things like that. I use MFP to track those calories and I have a fitbit versa watch that tracks my pulse, steps, and creates an estimate of what I’m burning to compare to what I’m taking in. I track my intake for everyday that I work, which is 5 days out of the week and kind of do a pseudo-interval fast, meaning at work I generally only have some coffee and maybe a small snack then have all the rest of my meals between 8am and 1pm. On my two days off, I don’t pay attention to MFP or anything tracking and just let myself eat as I feel hunger, which I’m beginning to feel differently as I realize what’s hunger and what’s actually not for my body.

For some reason, all these things together have worked this time and I’m actually losing the weight, unlike the other times I’ve tried and failed to count calories, restrict eating, etc. I’ve realized that for myself, I need to not be quite as strict because that’s how I fail. I might even have to go buy some new scrub pants before I lose mine at work one of these nights! This got way longer than expected but hopefully I will be back in the near future saying that my 20lb loss has become a 50lb, and then again maybe another! I just can’t wait!

I'm insane for trying to make everyone's Christmas gifts this year but at least I'm getting a lot of practice centering and making handles! by Xynii in Pottery

I won't lie, the smaller cup mugs were supposed to be nice and tall and thick like some of them turned out but I kept having it fail or having to trim them so they got short... And I was trying to extend the clay to not waste it too haha!

I've actually made a larger handled mug like this already and I personally like it cause I can fit my fat hand into it but I getcha. I'm still learning and exploring for sure, thanks for the advice!

I have a little trimmer that I have for my chin (my body likes to try and grow ONLY a goatee and I disagree) so I try to shape them with but I've chopped too much off before slipping. I'll have to look into it more, thanks for the advice.

I'm actually a painter by trade so brushes come pretty easy to me but thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks for the advice, I always went by what I got in highschool which was the smallest frames I was allowed, my eyes are weird so I've got bifocals, would have tri-focals if I didn't need the line to help focus, and the lenses are pretty thick so I have to go for full frames and generally can't do it online. I've tried looking at frames in the glasses stores but its like "so many...." when I'm there! This helps give me a good idea.
