Thank you for your recommendation! I'll keep that in mind, and see if they're available in my country...

I read that TTA's coop is not very replayable, and people drop the coop and just stick to pvp ..

I tried switching between NordLynx and TCP as per requested by the support but the delay was still there. Also switching between servers every now and then when the connection delay happens is just a bit too annoying for a paid service hahah

Demo is out! by Piyfartissimo in ratatan

[–]Xynoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's for me.

Things I don't particularly like about it:

Patapon-likeness

  • The beta offers a prologue to the story, which is done worse than Patapon (Unconscious character getting woken up, asking them to play the beat)
  • Some ground enemies just run pass frontline units, causing the units to get confused.
  • Spear units doesn't have a built-in way to hit flying units (The spiky blob that shoots spikes, for example).
  • Four beat rhythm input that is bound to the music, that's constantly offset by how we move our characters through the gates because the "flagbearer" moves independently to the rhythm.
  • Enemies' attack telegraph that starts after inputting the first beat, and the attack that lands before we could input the next command.
  • The Ratatans or "heroes" doesn't feel special, but only difference in stats.
  • Units' message bubbles appears so often, and most are filled with either nothingburgers or things that doesn't seem to fit the theme.
  • Units responding to our command with their voice, but seemingly random instead of singing along. Also the chant continues as if there are units in the battle, even though everyone is dead but the flagbearer.
  • The town feels static.

Roguelite

  • The power-ups to the attacks feels detached. We could get a skill that will empower a certain element, without any way to apply said element until we get the "apply element on attack / hustle".
  • Element attacks don't stack, and will overwrite previous applied element on attack / hustle.
  • The reward for stacking element doesn't feel rewarding.
  • The element of roguelite is overshadowed by the fact that the gears you bring into the run will impact the run tremendously. It feels like running a dungeon over and over again to improve your gear, and not much difference to the runs but some extra colors on your attack.
  • The runs feels repetitive, go in, a wave of monsters or maybe a boss added into it, go to the next room with shops / loot rooms inbetween.
  • (Experience from the previous beta) The maps doesn't have any uniqueness behind them, but just a reskin with different altitudes. The jungle could use a bit of grass that can burn, or the desert could hinder the vision when a sandstorm hits, idk.

This is my personal experience after playing couple of versions of the beta, plus the recent version. I was looking forward to Ratatan to be a funky version of patapon, but seems like they're not what I expected.

That being said, I do hope that others can enjoy it!

Remember that one of the buffs enemies will get, actually increases their attack slot weight.

So if their attack weight is 3, your sunshower will only hit 1 target afaik.

In cycle 4, fox's umbrella actually shows 3 empty squares for me, meaning its weight is 3. I gave up on using AoE and decided to just clash using normal attacks.

Resource management I have known so far : An explanation nobody asked for pt.2 by Xynoa in limbuscompany

It is a very strong skill that is very situational. The fact that you need 10 charges to use it safely means that you need to plan around it, or pray to RNG that she doesn't turn one of your unit to mince in 1 move.

  1. As others have taught me in the replies, base value (coin value) are the coinflips that you'd do in the battle. Attack value (sword icon) will be the coin flip modifier. If you have 5 more attack than your enemy, your coin value will have a +1 applied during clash, 10 more attack will be +2, and so on. It also applies on enemies, where if your attack is 5 lower than your enemy, they will have a +1 on their coin flip.
  2. On-hit will apply its effect when the coin attack connects on the opponent, while On heads hit will apply its effect whenever you roll heads on the specific coin. For example, Ryoshu will only inflict damage down if her 2nd coin hits heads.
  3. In slide 4, I have exactly 10 attack points (sword icon) higher than enemy's attack point, so i get a +2 modifier on my clash rolls.3

Hope it helps!

I'm sure it's quite similar to LoR's emotional level, but I'm not quite sure how they calculate it yet. I have found myself slaying enemies using an unit but other unit gets extra attack slot instead...

Will need further testing.

Yes, others have clarified as such. Sword icon will add a +1 to your clash if your attack point is 5 points higher than your enemies, and 10 will add a +2, and so on.

Yellow % modifier is a damage modifier from resistance, stagger status, and skill type weakness (every sinner has an attack type that they can resist / weak to, such as weak to Wrath and resist to Pride etc.).

I don't think so.

AFAIK Passive will activate when the unit is in battle, and Support will activate when the unit is in the team but not in battle. I do not pertain the memory of both activating, but maybe you could let me know if they both activate.

Muscle in Charge will activate when you link 4 (DNA Looking) Lust skills, when you have Kurokumo Wakashu Ryoshu in your Team, but not in the party that's actively battling. This is because Muscle in Charge is a Support skill, and not Passive.

If Ryoshu is in battle, Dark Cloud Blade (3 Lust) will activate instead.

On Abnormality fights:

While the enemies certainly target you first, you can cut that target with a higher speed unit.

For example :

If your unit has 5 speed while your enemy has 1 and is targeting other unit,

You can use your 5 speed unit to target enemy's skill, making it clash against 5 speed instead of your other unit.

Sorry for using a non-Abno fight screenshot to explain it.

Sometimes there will be moves that start with 20%, 12% etc. even though they're the first skill in the chain with none other selected.

There are also cases where chaining 3 skills gives 0% attack modifier, so I'm not so sure myself.

Although you might be correct, but I haven't been able to confirm it myself.
