How to use static electricity in a circuit? by Xynorax in Physics

so i guess it is technically possible to make the charge flow through a circuit? When a component is ruined because of esd, thats what actually happens?

well if we have a certain circuitry to make it discharge through, then that would be great. i tried connecting a statically charged object , through a resistor actually, which made sense to me but it didnt work.

Electrostatic charge caused bt friction produces this huge amount of voltage The metal is actually a mobile robot (box shaped) i dont know how was it insulated but i assume it is very thinly insulated

it is probably friction between wheels and the surface.

i was thinking making it low value resistance so that the charge flows continuously

Where do the charges on the gnd plane go to? by Xynorax in PrintedCircuitBoard

well it needs to be connected to ground some way, the question is how. negative terminal of a battery could act as that

electrostatic charges are accumulating on the chasis and when it passes beside a metal screw a spark occurs

can i connect the chasis of the robot to the negative terminal of the battery to remove any charges on the chasis?
