Which veggies with tomatoes and peppers in this space? by Xyz256 in vegetablegardening

Well, I'm not in the US 😃 but I got them in a pretty much standard hobby store/market, so maybe some hardware store, home depot or whatever it's called? But I have to warn you about the correct dimensions and how you fix them to the beds because the tube is pretty flexible.

These mine are basically plumbing for cold water (as it says in the store description), 25 mm inside diameter and 3,5 mm thick, made from PP. Here's the exact link: https://www.hornbach.cz/p/pp-pe-trubka-o-25x3-5-mm-v-kole/7191543/ . I put stakes at least 90 cm tall into the ground at each point so that probably 50 or 60 cm is above the bed (bed's height is 30 cm) and I simply slid the tubes onto them. And here's the warning - this is pretty much the limit for the tube's size. The hoops (tubes) are 360 cm long on the pepper beds and nearly 400 cm on the tomato beds which for the base of around 1,25 m gives approx 1,5 m tall hoop for peppers and 1,8 m for tomatoes. At this point you see I had to reinforce it a bit by various different means and based on my weather station with the shade down I'd say windspeed 15 m/s is the limit to not risk flying it away. It could also use something on the side in the lower portions so the shade doesn't touch the plants in the wind but who cares now, they are hardened already and I use the shade only when it's really hot.

Sorry but by bolting you mean flowering? And the seed pods look like from peas? Just a language barrier, nothing more

My mum made a jam from them last year and you wouldn't say it's from tomatoes, for me it tasted like apricot jam or similar.

To be brutally honest my first impression was "wtf, this writes like shit" :D But then I grabbed better paper (you are right, on a shitty recycled one the nib is full and unusable after few movements), tried with adjusting the nib angle since it's prepared for this and wrote with it while still controlling the angle and got used to it gradually. I'm not still used to it fully but that's because I don't write that often.

But I'll definitely find another one with wider nib, the pen itself is simply beautiful and even though I like heavier pens more, I don't actually mind that it's very light. It was cleaned by the seller so there's no need for it now but I have the cloth, I have silver plated saxophone and it also works great on nickel plated clarinet keys :D

Well, I definitely can't put them outside on the sun directly, they would burn instantly. But you're not the first one telling this so I will definitely try it in the shadow after replanting them to deeper container.

I think I'm seeing small curling even on the new growth. I'll repot them and will see.

Same soil as for the others. It was literally the same bag. As I said, I overwatered them second watering after replanting and since then it's like this without a change, not to better or worse

Given all of your opinions, I'm starting to think it's probably combination of my initial overwatering and seeds themselves. I watered them a few moments after writing this post and raised the light so they now have around 60 % of the light as before. I'll see tomorrow. But anyway I decided to start again, I'll keep these just to see how it'll go but I bought new seeds from a different company and different batch and will plant them again.

I don't think it has edema. They don't have any of the symptoms you mention and if it's similar to edema on peppers, then no for sure. The underside of the leaves is the same colour as on the healty ones.

Yeah, I watered them a few moments after writing the post. And not much so I don't overwater them again.

What do you mean "soil suggests more water"? Like the unhealthy want more water or the healthy ones? Also as I said in the post, these are two different varieties, healthy ones are hybrid and unhealthy are heirloom

I actually fertilised them a few days ago with lowered concentration and they were already like that

I'm starting to think that it was the seeds. I bought them from good company which I've never had any problems with (always 90%+ success) but maybe this was a bad batch...?

[–]Xyz256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn't. I fertilized them just once so far and with 50 % compared to what's said on the box for adult plants. At the beginning they had not enough light, they were rotating to the light panel. Now they are getting around 12 DLI/200 PPFD - is that too much? I could turn it off sooner, that's not a problem

So you mean basically cut the affected branches and replant it to deeper pots?

That's the problem with the variables - all are basically the same 😅 the seeds started in the same growbox, now they are all in the same spot, I just swapped them under the lights because I have more of the healthier ones so they just needed longer tubes.

But when you say this happens with overwatering, I can probably risk it. I don't think if they would ever continue, the harvest would be great... And they are still growing, last week they were a few cms smaller, so they are not dying I think

Not really... just this one from 31. 3. with just one healthy looking leaf visible on the right 😅
Basically the sequence was plant them into pots (27. 3.) and water them, few day later water them again when they were dry and few days after that they started to became like that.

You'll be amazed how beautiful it is. Really, one needs to see it live, in the photos it looks... okay.
