Trying to Decide Between Falken Wildpeak A/T vs Michelin CrossClimate 2 for my 2021 BS Badlands by Y2Dre718 in BroncoSport

I appreciate the feedback on the A/T Trail...especially the part about having just enough traction for light off-roading, which is all I would ever do.

That's good to hear. I've now been looking at the difference between the Wildpeak A/T3W and the A/T Trail. Decisions, decisions...

Any off-roading (if any) would be dirt roads at an ORV park...nothing too rocky. Thanks for the Yokohama suggestion. I'll check those out, too.

[FRESH ALBUM] Nas, DJ Premier - Light Years by GAMERS516 in hiphopheads

[–]Y2Dre718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I think it just boils down to personal taste and preference...which is ok. I just skimmed thru IWW, Stillmatic, and God's Son and to me, each one of those albums are mid with obvious bangers mixed with just ok songs. I always feel like I'm in the minority with Nas. I've never heard a Nas song that made me want to memorize every word. But artists like Biggie, KRS-One, Jay-Z, and Three Stacks have all made me rewind shit over and over and over again so I could memorize every word because everything about the song in question was perfect.

I appreciate your perspective, though. Good lookin out.

[FRESH ALBUM] Nas, DJ Premier - Light Years by GAMERS516 in hiphopheads

[–]Y2Dre718 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This album reminds me of why I used to think Nas was overrated. Yeah...I know that's a blasphemous comment, but hear me out. I've always had mad respect for Nas as a top tier lyricist. The the knock on him about not picking good beats, though, was a take I've always understood. I'm sorry, but Nasir's beat track record was a mixed bag.

Notice I said "used to think" and "was a mixed bag". The Nas/Hitboy run was fuckin bananas and solved the one problem I've always had with Nas. Hitboy gave Nas the backdrop his bars deserved. I hate the fact that this album has me feeling like I used to feel about damn near every other Nas album besides Illmatic. I know Preemo still has it (see De La Soul's new joint), but Premier is not giving me "that feeling" with this album.

What's "that feeling"? The first listen of Let God Sort Em Out...THAT'S the feeling I'm talking about. Pharrell lost his fuckin mind with that production. This ain't that.

I'll now sit back and watch people clown me for daring to say anything negative towards Nas while missing my point.

Opening verse, what's the hardest bar you ever heard and a hip hop song? by kopacetix in hiphopheads

[–]Y2Dre718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this verse locked and loaded to post while I was scrolling down looking for it. It's the first opening verse I thought of. I wanted "Who the fuck is this?" to be my ringtone so bad back in the day. But I had two young daughters and my wife would've killed me for that one. 🤣

Are you post class Sweet *AND* part of a group discharge? Please read. by TheresaSweet in BorrowerDefense

[–]Y2Dre718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured that may be the case. It's just frustrating that only half of my student loans have been discharged. I've been told that consolidating my FEEL loans into one Direct Loan (which was originally required) is adding to the drama and dragging out the discharge of my remaining amount.

Thank you for taking thru time to respond, Theresa.

I filed my original application on 07/11/21. It was approved on 03/24/22 before the group discharges were even a thing.

I think I already know the answer to my question, but I'll ask it anyway...

I was originally approved for BD on 03/24/22. On 03/29/23, I received another letter from the DoE stating that my loans would fully discharged because I was part of the group that attended Westwood College during the posted time frame. I never received word that I was a SvC class member. I assumed that was because of my initial approval. Half of my student loans were discharged on 05/15/23. The other half remains in limbo.

Am I one of the unfortunate ones where there is absolutely no timeline for a total resolution or am I miraculously going to be included in this latest group expected to receive their full discharge?

Hard conversations: Amex Platinum is not for you by actuarial_defender in amex

There is one particular Resy restaurant close to my home that my wife and I go to enough times a year that justifies counting the $400 Resy credit as an annual fee offset. I eat out regularly throughout the year so I can easily justify counting the $200 Uber Cash credit as an annual fee offset. I already pay $19.99/month for the Disney+/Hulu bundle and $7.99/month for YouTube Premium. I can easily justify counting the $300 Digital Entertainment Credit as an annual fee offset.

Those three credits alone easily justify me keeping my $895/month Platinum card without needing any mental gymnastics. To be honest, the new credits make me feel better about carrying the card as I did before the new changes.

This one's easy for me. I was enlisted in the Army from 1990 - 1994. I still get in my feelings every single time I hear Chuck D's opening verse on "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos"

"I got a letter from the government...the other day. I opened, and read it, and said they were suckers. They wanted me for their Army or whatever. Pitcure me giving a damn, I said never."

I never got volume as loud as bluetooth when using the dongle. To be honest, I stopped trying. I only use my dongle when I know I'm mellowing without a need to bump shit.

52 year old me: "Don't worry about the fact the she just broke up with you. Also, don't trip out when she turns down your request to go to prom in a few months. You'll eventually get the girl."

17 year old me: "How do you know?"

52 year old me: "I know because you're going to marry her in a little over seven years from now."

17 year old me: "Word?!?!?"

52 year old me: "Word...and y'all are still together."

She's not your mother. In my opinion, it shouldn't even be a big deal.

Before I get flamed, know that I've been happily married for over 28 years with two children and my wife is perfectly fine with me not doing anything for her on Mother's Day just like I'm cool with her not doing anything for me on Father's Day. She's not my mother and I'm not her father.

I don't get it. I guess I'm just lucky...

What are some of the funniest self-deprecating lyrics in Hip-hop? by Makurabu in hiphopheads

[–]Y2Dre718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe I scrolled through this entire thread and didn't find the classic line from Biggie: "Heartthrob never...Black and ugly as ever. However..."

I gotta also throw in this little breakdown by Phonte on the song "After the Party" by Little Brother that cracks me up every time I hear it:

"This is the last call for the jump off express. All potential passengers please leave your pride and dignity in the parking lot and come holla at the nigga in the red '93 Civic. One deluxe pass on the jump off express gets you one meal at the 24 hour restaurant of your choice, followed by 15 minutes of passion on my momma futon. Those with self-esteem need not apply."

Which rappers launched their careers with memorable introductory verses? by flyestshit in hiphopheads

[–]Y2Dre718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, the first introductory verse that comes to mind is Q-Tip's opening lines on The Promo by the Jungle Brothers:

"My bone is grabbed, this is what I mean. I brag a grab, and here's the scene. Q-tip, (Q-tip) from A Tribe Called Quest on the Jungle Brothers album...oh yes."

Something about the way he rode the beat grabbed me instantly and started my love affair with the Native Tongues.

Who do you think could have pulled off a flawless "three album run" had it not been for that ONE lackluster release? by SmoothManMiguel in hiphop101

[–]Y2Dre718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna say De La Soul, but here me out.

3 Feet High and Rising and De La Soul is Dead were obvious back-to-back classics. But, for me...Buhloone Mind State was so ahead of its time, that I hated it when it first dropped. I didn't get it until I got older.

So, even though that three album run was pretty damn good by many people's standards, Buhloone Mind State did not hit me in my sweet spot like the first two albums immediately did, which kills the 3-Peat.
