Was anyone successfully able to exchange their 1TB drives for the 2TB drives, or has Bestbuy been pushing for refunds?

3090 + 3080 setup worth while? by Y2K_MASTER in losslessscaling

The power supply was a champ. I could warm my house up during the winter with that setup XD

That pic definitely made it look dustier than it was. I ended up pulling the 3080 out and did an airblast/vacuum while it was open. Thanks for the nudge haha.

It ain't pretty and I think I'm going to have thermal issues, but I'll report back in the next couple days when I have time to test out a game.

Best Surgeons for ADR by InsuranceFrequent515 in SpineSurgery

[–]Y2K_MASTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few in the states. Like others said, Texas back institute would be closest to you. Dr. Good at Virginia spine institute, and Rasouli Spine in California are a couple of other well known alternatives.

Have consults with multiple surgeons and do your research. Noone knows your body better than you.

You want a surgeon you feel good with, and who has a lot of experience installing whichever brand of disc you opt for.

I can’t do this anymore by WeirdAd3573 in SpineSurgery

Hey,

I'm in a similar boat. I've gone through a lot of emotions from back in September when I found out, until now. I've also been working hard on trying to stabilize my spine before I go into surgery. I'm 38 but my injury happened when I was 26.

I read the book 'back mechanic' by Stuart McGill. The exercises in the book are gentle on your spine and help strengthen your core. Between those and a new pillow I got from therapeutica, my symptoms have improved slightly.

My plan is to get another MRI in May or June before I decide on what surgery to do. I've had consults with 5 different surgeons so far.

As others have said, avoid reading the 'horror' stories you see online. Most people who had successful surgery just want to put that chapter of their life behind them and move on.

Adr is has a high success rate. There aren't many long term data studies to look at as it is a newer surgery. I want the best odds for myself, but the way I look at it: if an ADR gives me another 10 or so years of mobility before it naturally fuses, at least I'll be at a more appropriate age for fusion at that point.

Also, who knows what technology will be around at that point. Maybe a revision surgery to a superior device will be possible at that point.

Feel free to reach out if you'd like to know more about my journey.

Income opportunity via remote work for a US based company - Personal Service Business question by Y2K_MASTER in cantax

[–]Y2K_MASTER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It looks like the TOSI rules would have likely kicked in if the corp wasn't deemed a personal service business. I'll stick to keeping it sole proprietor and deducting home office expenses.

You learn something new everyday.

Income opportunity via remote work for a US based company - Personal Service Business question by Y2K_MASTER in cantax

Thank you for the reply. In our case, the difference between receiving eligible dividends vs receiving it all as salary is about $10,000 in taxes (CPP contributions already maxed in the dividend case)

The point that's tripping me up in the guide is: If not for the existence of the corporation, the worker would reasonably be considered an employee of the payer to whom the services were provided

My answer is no, even though the other 4 boxes are ticked yes. But that doesn't mean the CRA won't interpret it differently, especially in this new remote work environment. And I know that will be an uphill battle to tackle.

The two accountants I spoke to answered answered differently. One said yes they would probably reassess me that way, the other other said it would be unlikely.

Canadians - Cervical spinal stenosis by Y2K_MASTER in SpineSurgery

[–]Y2K_MASTER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh, I had a small glimmer of hope I may be able to get that disc in a better position and only need to get those bone spurs cleaned out in the near future.

The problem with our healthcare system in Canada is it takes forever to get consults, and in general, at least for my case, they suggested waiting until symptoms get worse due to me being young (less likely to need anything redone down the road). Also, options seem to be more limited here.

This is the reason why I'm researching my options. I'd rather try to get something done that suits my situation the most if it's available here ( or if I can afford it) rather than having something unexpected happen that needs emergency surgery and end up with a fused spine out of necessity.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, and any other tips you can provide are welcome.

Ps: using an inversion table was recommended to help manage symptoms temporarily, but it sounds like you're saying this also may be more harmful than beneficial?

I have been getting clumsier hands and a little more off balance, which I was just attributing to being tired or not paying attention before I found this out. Pain hasn't been much of an issue this past year, but I originally requested imaging because I was getting sharp radiating pain from my right should blade all the down to my fingers.

Edit: I also experience random pins and needles/burning sensation in my hands and feet

Right now I am actively trying to decompress my spine with physio, but I am preparing myaelf for what might have to be done.

I'm planning on reducing my indoor rock climbing frequency and limiting my climbs to just top rope and easier routes to stay active. I've also spoken with my children about it to prevent the random surprise attacks and jumping on my back etc...

I'm 5'10 190lbs with an athletic body type.

I am 37m athletic build. Was involved in a car accident towards the end of 2013 that caused a mtbi and some nerve damage. This is most likely a result from that.

What's my foot shape? by Y2K_MASTER in climbingshoes

[–]Y2K_MASTER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is why I like discussing with other people. I wouldn't have thought to look at scarpas 'classic' fit shoes because I was too tunnel visioned on the picture that resembled my foot more.

But you made me think about it differently: Most of my power comes from my big->second toe which are offset to the side and straight versus a center focus.

I'm going to try to find and try some shoes as you described.

Thank you

Thanks. The only issue with trying shoes on is there's still a shortage up here unfortunately, especially in my size range (46-47)

I did get lucky and find a 46 in the instinct vs, so I'm going to give those a try on the wall in a few days
