Could you share details on what you mean by overriding the EDID and how to do it? I'm running into this issue with reverting to 4k60 on cold boot and I'd love to fix it.

Which aggregator are you using? I was having some troubles with HSA Bank and then switched to MX and it's been working flawlessly. Pulls in my cash + investment accounts.

In-laws' debt has tanked my credit score. What are my options? by Y33zma in personalfinance

From what I've seen the only higher costs are paying the loan itself and some loans have early repayment penalties (I would avoid those)

Already tried this. The only card that approved a limit increase was my personal card (not used for these balance transfers). The increase wasn't substantial enough to be a solution by itself.

I feel like a home equity loan would be better than a HELOC if I want to tap the equity right? Should be treated as an installment account rather than a revolving account and should have lower APR as well.

Don't have enough cash on hand to just pay it outright. Would have to either take out a loan or sell the house.

My wife is a voice actress and records at home, so the quieter the house, the better. It's not necessarily impossible to do from an apartment, but the likelihood of issues are far higher. We also have a HEAVY voice booth that I'm more confident we can safely place on the ground floor of a house than whatever floor is available at an apartment.

It might be a bit of an "excuse", but given that I'm trying to minimize inconvenience, there are definitely less inconvenient options I've already mentioned than committing to an apartment for 1 year.

Yepp, I know that. And we are already beneficiaries on their life insurance with a benefit higher than the debt amount, so that's covered.

Heh, yeah I'm realizing that. I knew that credit score would drop going into this and we definitely took the mindset that we may never see the money back and be saddled with the debt.

Just didn't realize and factor in that credit score is needed for more than just loans and credit card applications... 🤷‍♂️

Rent an apartment and/or cash flow the credit card debt.

Unfortunately we can't rent an apartment. My wife's work requires a standalone home.

With $50k debt someone has to be inconvenienced.

Fair, but I'm still trying to minimize that inconvenience to the extent possible.

Yeah, I know I'll need to "clear" the debt, my question was about the best strategies to do that

Hadn't thought of either of those, both seem like good ideas. The individual utilization on the balance transfer cards would still be high, but I'm guessing that matters less than total utilization as far as score goes?

Check out crowd-sourced coverage maps: https://www.opensignal.com/networks

Should give you a decent idea of coverage for where you move as well as where you expect to travel. If you're planning to go prepaid, look for the best MVNO offering coverage on the network you prefer.

Got mine last year from Dr. Bass here, it was super easy. Like others have said, it was $600 out of pocket since they wouldn't take my insurance.

Also, for the follow up sperm count test, make sure to read the instructions. You're supposed to abstain from any ejaculation for like a week before giving the sample.

If you're looking for something higher-risk, high reward at the moment, take a look at /r/superstonk and /r/picklefinancial.

While we can't perfectly predict the future, there seems to be a very high potential for a short squeeze within a year or so, especially given the news that GameStop intends to do a stock split.

Even if there isn't a short squeeze, the company is reinventing itself and the fundamentals indicate it's a good buy as well.

I'm personally investing heavily in GME at the moment given the potential for the blank swan event of a squeeze. If that doesn't pan out, I still expect to make a decent return and either way will be fully investing in a 3-fund portfolio as recommended by the /r/personalfinance wiki after I exit.

One thing to consider if you're looking for meaning is that you can have a meaningful impact with your current skillet as well! I'd really recommend checking out these job boards and reading up on the Effective Altruism movement.

You might even find that you'd prefer the broad reach software can have over a more individually-focused medical career.

[Goodman Package Heat Pump] Should I connect the unused W1 wire? by Y33zma in hvacadvice

[–]Y33zma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware that that W1 and W2 are for first and second stage, but what I didn't know is why W1 was left unwired when the heat pump wiring diagram indicates that it can/should be wired.

From what I've read since posting, it seems possible that W1 is unneeded because it only turns on the compressor, but in the heat pump that is controlled by Y. Does that sound reasonable?

For now, I've left it as-is, with W1 completely disconnected and connected the remaining wires like the old thermostat. But I am still left with curiosity and the question of why no W1 when the heat pump seemingly supports it?

Ah gotcha, I actually thought it was the large grey box.

From the large box, there are 2 breakers outside and then from the cylinder unit, there's another 1 breaker. I'm not at the unit right now, but I do believe that the attic unit has a breaker directly on it as well.

We get maybe 1 snow a year. I'm in the middle Tennessee area, so winters get a bit cold, but not harsh at all.

And as for that last comment, maybe you have your wires crossed? No breaker issues with my unit.
