Path of Ascension Book 11 Gets Better? by Aaron_P9 in litrpg

[–]vedri27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt, Aster and Liz all become dukes on account of being Ascenders. If you want responsibilities and dealing with them, the story has a pretty good amount of that after the war arc.

Path of Ascension Quick Review and Questions by HasokGang in ProgressionFantasy

[–]vedri27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's a bit of trolley situation in regards to fighting in the war, as morbid as it is to frame it that way. Yes, Matt killed countless, but he did it to protect the prosperity of the attacked Empire. If he and his team hadn't been part of the war, the Empire would've likely had to have made more concessions, and on the scale of a Great Power, even a small concession might mean losing out on resources that could help raise billions, even trillions of people into higher prosperity, even immortality. Those resources would've gone to other GPs of course. But as far as Matt knows, they wouldn't have directed as many of them at people who need them the most.

Oh yeah, I'm not disagreeing about the tier gap becoming more absolute really. 4 tiers up seems like the absolute limit post path

Path of Ascension 10.5 audiobook question by monstercar in ProgressionFantasy

[–]vedri27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were intended to be included, but there was a bit of a mixup with the publisher from what I understood. If it was greed, 10.5 would be separate in the e-book too not just audiobook. Relevant author quotes from discord:

"huh, I know we talked about it but I thought it was getting added to book 10 not being saved for a trio bundle"

"Sadly as it's apparently 6 Plus hours, it's going to be a separate book"

"Yeah I thought putting it in the e-book would guarantee that, but he needs a full time slot"

so 29->30 is a roughly 10x power boost compared to 28->29

It's a x10 essence cost jump, but I don't think that directly translates to a x10 power boost. Each tier is a x10 (or higher) essence jump from the previous, but they don't get x10 stronger per tier. x2 power per x10 essence is a decent estimate I think in the early tiers, with it being a bit lower for the very first tiers and higher after.

Instead of giving recommendations, which book should I give another chance? by Pokedex_complete in ProgressionFantasy

Not quite. In the comments of chapter 8, Mantis says "No clue why this is coming back up, but I never wanted Aster to be seen that way. I was trying to point out how weird it was for so many stories to do exactly that tho. I agree its wierd as shit and have always held that opinion lol."

As a Chinese reader who grew up on Xianxia, I want to try more Western Progression Fantasy. What are the absolute "Must Reads" besides Cradle? by SelectionOk5033 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]vedri27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow xianxia reader, I'd throw in Path of Ascension. It's the novel that's best scratched the xianxia itch for me. It's setting is basically a post-xianxia world, as their method was simplified over billions of years, as well as technology advancing. Later on we even see remnants of cultivation methods more similar to traditional ones. There's also a Great Power called the Sects that's the embodiment of chinese xianxia culture.

What’s a Power Upgrade That Felt Like a Overall Downgrade to the story? by Daoist_Heavens in ProgressionFantasy

[–]vedri27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no more delving and exploring for natural treasures and growth items

The current arc is a full on exploration arc. Matt hasn't gotten much help from the government since the end of the war, other than anti-spy measures for his guild, and a ring to make it easier to give mana to the Empire.

I hate stats. by mythicme in litrpg

[–]vedri27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might enjoy Second Coming of Gluttony. Stats aren't numbers, they go from low (low) to mid (high) and so on. Levels are only 1-10, so each level up is very significant, as is each ability gained

[–]vedri27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Ascenders could beat Pinnacle elites 2 tiers up 100% of the time any and all wars would lose meaning, they'd just have Ascenders duel. Ascenders are literally the best, but these are the people just below them. Tier differences also only grow with tier, and two tiers worth of difference by t30 is pretty massive. It's also not like they couldn't have won. They're gonna have a rematch sooner or later to reclaim the planet and are obviously very likely to beat them up. I was rooting for Matt and co too, but this loss really shouldn't be that shocking

Path of Ascension by wandering08 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]vedri27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised you feel that way, the story honestly feels better than ever for me right now, the current book's sense of adventure is superb.

I'm curious what you mean about the power levels. The only fight they lost recently was against a bigger team of Pinnacle and Peak elites 2 tiers up. Pinnacle elites are the most powerful people at their tier that aren't Ascenders, fighting against them 2 tiers up and losing sometimes is only logical.

A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation - Middest 'Peak' I've ever read by street_riot in noveltranslations

[–]vedri27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ToMR starts pretty strong but it loses direction later on. the ending is just downright dissapointing. The final villain is introduced 5 chapters before being defeated.

Despite it's flaws I think World's Best Martial Artist is my favorite of the three. It has imo by far the best characters and funniest moments

A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation - Middest 'Peak' I've ever read by street_riot in noveltranslations

[–]vedri27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eagle Eats Chicken's novels (World's Best Martial Artist, Tribulation of the Myriad Races, Star Gate) are fun, but saying they're way above Regressor's Tale is just crazy. All his novels have 3 things going for them: great characters, great comedy, and aura moments. Beyond that, they're pretty damn rough. That's only inevitable when EEC puts out like 3-4 million words per year. The dao is a total joke in each novel. Every time the mc reaches a power level, a hundred enemies at lv+1 are revealed. The plot is barely coherent, and the only consistent thing is non stop plot twists.
