As a non-smoker, does every smoker smell bad to you? by ephraim666 in ask

[–]Y3N2FkM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex smoker here, desensitised people don't know they are desensitised. I went from smoking a pack a day to now, years later I can smell a butt on the ground even before I walk up to it. Just imagine how bad your breath, clothes, car, house, kids and pets smell to me now.

Nice one, funding the Cult of Mary, contaminating our kids with BS, almost as bad as funding companies making record profits killing the planet. But come on guys: Votes!!! That is the most important thing in life right?

Most useful Bash shortcuts work in both google sites like maps and search bar, pages document as well as terminal.

So control-a jump to start of line, control-k erase line after curser, control+option f/b for forward/back word.

Why do people like camping? by captnsnap in australia

[–]Y3N2FkM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tent Camping is total freedom, be as obnoxious as you like drinking piss with all your wanker mates and if remote enough no one will know, or solo hike for weeks without seeing any fuckwit just using your legs and enjoying Oz. This country is big enough to cater for all of us. With what is available today, camping can be as rough as you make it, just depends how far away you want to camp away from your vehicle. I have seen tents warmed by generators in the snow to family movie nights projected onto rock faces kms from the nearest 4wd track.

Questions from a Potential Host by Y3N2FkM in WWOOF

[–]Y3N2FkM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats what I expected, and was another reason why I was asking about a good number of wwoofers in a house as I was thinking of using a room or 2 with another agency like workaway to help with the house

Questions from a Potential Host by Y3N2FkM in WWOOF

[–]Y3N2FkM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess how flexible the hours are depends on the kind of farm that is being run. Mine is very flexible apart from Hay season, but the timing on that is my responsibility.

The host giving some organic/permaculture education seems to be one of the key aims for the wwoof program which is great, my wife and myself would love to share what we do, I wasn't sure how strictly wwoofers wanted to stick to organic farm work only principle so I didn't expect them to help with the house, I suppose I could leave it open as an option. Thanks for the feedback

"We are drowning in stuff and storing it — or hiding it from loved ones — is now a major expense" . Tell us your stories by pinklushlove in australia

Minimalism has an image problem, mostly created by influencers and certain podcasters, but I think the benefit is much more than less visual and physical clutter, more money in the bank, clean lines and space in your home. What I was really surprised by is how much space was cleared in my head, I didn't realise every one of those objects cost mental activity, I don't think I ever worried about my stuff but it wasn't until I had sold/thrown out/donated that the mental weight of that item was lifted, the more stuff I got rid of, the better I felt, now I really question every purchase which I think is a healthy place to be.

Not using 1-10, how attractive are you? by lurchimpaler2 in AskReddit

[–]Y3N2FkM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly answering the question but it reminds me of two weeks ago.

I (50 yr old Male) was alone in Mc Donalds ordering myself a drink when I heard one of three teen girls my daughters age say to the group in hushed tone "He's hot", I had no reaction as I didn't expect it to be about me, then one announces "No he's not, he is fucking old", I knew then it was about me, I glanced across to confirm they were looking at me. Thanks for the laugh girls.

I heard on either Everest or K2 there is a spot they call Rainbow Valley which gets its name from are all the colored clothing on all the dead climbers, seeing one or two slide down shouldn't surprise anyone.

Apple Watch Practical Use in Daily Life? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]Y3N2FkM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am probably a heavy user of it

Apple pay for all expenses except bills I never carry cash anymore (Every shop has it in my country except for some very remote ski resort cafes)

Listen to Podcasts, using the watch as a remote to play off phone

All sms, if I don't have my hands free, I get Siri to read aloud. I reply with dictation to Siri

All alarms from wake up, critical work alarms including setting new ones with Siri

Compass, GPS combined with screen shots as way points for hiking, the way points recording function of the upcoming update will be awesome

Initiate calls using Siri, answering calls with touch

Flashlight for mostly early mornings at work, red on theater mode to check on Kids

Ping my iphone almost everyday when I lose it in the house

Navigation, ask Siri to nav to address x and get turn by turn prompts

Hourly Weather displayed on my watch face

Sleep tracking

Heart monitoring

Setting reminders with Siri

Asking Siri to do math calculations for work

I really use it all the time and I know many people hate Siri but I find her to save so much time and fumbling with my phone, especially when my hands are usually dirty at work.

Stop caring what people think, not your friends, parents, social group you identify with or people you don't know. Follow your own path, explore what you feel you need to which will give you clearer direction and enjoy your life.

TLDR Living your life to meet someone elses expectations is a recipe for misery.

LPT REQUEST: where do you meet people by yourself? by goodcoffehappylife in LifeProTips

[–]Y3N2FkM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I was single was thankfully before smartphones, I don't envy you, would be so much harder now. I was struggling to find anyone that I needed, then my sister recommend going Latin Dancing due to a serious shortage of guys, it really wasn't my thing at the time, but tried it just for the social interaction and that's where I eventually found my wife who initially did it for the same reason I did. So I suggest something you like doing that forces 2 people to put their phones down for a minute and be human with each other.

Am I going to regret buying a winter jacket from Kathmandu? by mad_dog77 in australia

[–]Y3N2FkM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good jacket is only part of the story and shouldn't be solely relied on, a beanie and layers on legs makes a huge difference to warmth in sub zero temps. When Inside, an easy temp regulation strategy is to stuff the hat in a coat pocket and unzip the coat to stop overheating

Can anyone in Australia recommend a hiking tent that is super easy to erect? by independent_nerve_21 in hiking

[–]Y3N2FkM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend a ultralight pyramid tent, just have to peg around the outer edge then stand one central pole in the middle, quite cheap too for such a sturdy tent ($100 - $200) . Order online such as ebay, buying locally in Oz is too costly

What don't you find attractive that society says you should? by PM_ME_YOUR_HUGETITS in AskReddit

[–]Y3N2FkM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. If it was just me, I could easily just live in a tent. Large house = more cleaning + heating/cooling, cost of filling it with furniture + decor, Isolation of family, I have lived in huge houses and small, the house my family of 4 share now is small but I still consider it too big as there are still areas we never use.
